General Appearance:
Dominik isn't ugly. He also does not look like a Greek God, strutting out of a pool with droplets of water curving around his navel as he throws his golden locks behind him. He is simply Dominik. He has chocolate brown hair that is always in need of a trim, as it always seems to be a bit too shaggy. Never the less he still keeps up a fairly respectable appearance. Being a working man and all. He stands at a lanky 6'1. Neither too tall for his body or too short. He seems to be 'just right'. Well that would be in his own opinion. He is very deceiving in appearance. He seems lanky and scruffy to a T but he is actually fairly muscular and fit. He has an athletic body hidden under suits and all sorts of sophisticated wears. He never seems to shave when he actually should, he always has a scruffy appeal to his face. Whether it be a five o'clock shadow or a moustache and goatee ensemble. This could be either laziness or the ability to not care. You be the judge. His eyes are a dark brown, yet they almost blend with the iris. He likes to think that makes him mysterious in some way. His appearance gives off an educated yet bookwormish vibe. But his smirks and looks could also say he was a deviant. His skin is fairly tanned but nothing outright orange or gross looking. His hands are callused and use to work. Even if he holds a paintbrush more then a hammer. He doesn't have a willnilly sort of vibe and he likes that. He isn't battle scarred nor deformed. He isn't outright amazing either. No gary sue here. He has random scars from childhood and bar fights on his body. But no outrageous number.
When it comes to dress and everyday attire there is nothing feminine about his choices. Suits, ties, dress shirts. Anything goes with this man. He wears boots or fancy dress shoes. His jeans are rarely seen inside the school as he always wants to keep a good appearance up. He may not shave every day and he may not see a barber constantly but he does know how to dress himself and he believes he does it quite well. The most noticeable thing about this man is the fact that he almost always has his arms covered. Is he a psychopath? No actually it is quite a good reason. His falcon has sharp claws, and sharp claws means cut skin. Now that hes older he doesn't really notice it anymore but the marks on his skin prove quite readily that having a bird come in from a landing on to your arm can scar quite a bit. Aside from those obvious marks there is truly nothing about him that would tell you he isn't really ordinary. He comes off as a run of the mill nice guy with a dark secret. Or a perverted side. Really that much is up to you, but regardless he hides himself very well.
Personality:
As far as personality goes Dominik can be quite the stick in the mud unless you can prod him in to being a more social creature. It isn’t that he is dull in conversation, its just that he is a workaholic and doesn’t seem to realize you need to find time to do other things. You know, enjoy life and all. No Dominik likes to get everything done that day and it will be a cold day in hell that he has unfinished pieces. You’d think being an artist would make him more laid back. Or a pothead even, as some labelers would like to say. No Dominik is not calm and laid back. He is brimming with intelligence and loves to see the world in a beautiful way. He likes to paint scenery and people, sometimes. He has no patience for people if they won’t sit still. He is obviously quite comfortable in his own skin and never seems to worry about his appearance, aside from how he dresses. He has an average amount of self esteem and could care less what you actually think of him. He is friendly and can be amusing when he absolutely feels like telling a joke. Though he still is always friendly. He is mature enough to say ‘penis’ in a conversation and not giggle. Unless he has been drinking, then he might offer a chuckle. He is enthusiastic with his students and with almost everything he does. As I said, he is the epitome of a workaholic. He is trustworthy and unbiased. He cares little for material things aside from his art supplies. And maybe that leather jacket hiding in the back of his closet. He is efficient and eager to learn and try new things. He has never felt fear or worry when he thinks about his power. As his family was very accepting towards him. He is a little strange at times. Sometimes randomly babbling ideas to himself while staring at you, or a window, or a car for that matter. He has a unique sense of decor style and it is usually obvious by the weird sculptures in every room of his living quarters. He is entirely way too obsessed with birds, powers or not.
This does not mean that Dominik is always happy and a little strange. On the contrary, the man has a dark side. One he rarely shows to other people but its there. He can be arrogant when provoked and cruel when he feels it is necessary. He doesn’t like people going through his things and will reprimand you if you do. He isn’t always secretive but there are some things you don’t need to know about. He can be combative and irritating when he feels he is right. He will stand up for himself and others. He can be obsessive and possessive, which can be good or bad depending on whose considering it. His workaholic tendencies get in the way of relationships but helps him accomplish much. It also doesn’t help when he loses his ability to form words and actually speak. So really it could be considered a lose/lose situation. The only time he seems to ever go on a killing rampage is if you hurt his birds or mention hurting birds. Or touching Gunther. For some reason Gunther is the world to this man and he will literally have your face for breakfast if you touch his bird.

History
Dominik technically grew up in Washington. He lived around the Seattle area yet was always in Seattle with one parent or the other. He had a simple life in his youth, a younger sibling was born three years after him and he seemed to have a simple albeit normal life. That is until he hit age 12. For some reason life just wanted to throw another curve in to the mixture. At 12 years old puberty was kicking in and getting started, and something else started. It wasn’t right away of course, but ever so slowly Dominik seemed to always have a bird near him. Or with him even. For his parents this was very odd. His mother merely accepted it and said he had a gift with birds. His father was entirely creeped out but never said anything to his young son about it. It was closer to his 13th birthday that Hammel got ahold of him. Truthfully Dominik was happy to go. He hadn’t felt frightened by his abilities but empowered. He wanted to learn more, experience more. The artist inside him was literally tingling. So after much work and information Dominik left Washington to attend Hammel.
His first few years at the institute were quite tough on him. He was excited to be away from home and see all the new sights but he was scared. Being in a new place without his parents was very troubling. He talked constantly with his parents, almost every night actually. For the first few years up until he was 15 he would be considered a brat at times. This was simply a way to show his fears. After his 16th birthday he seemed to mellow out. He did well in his courses and worked harder on his ability. He never seemed too interested in bringing it out to other animals. Birds seemed to calm him down so he focused on strengthening that bond. To this day he still was never any good at Math but he worked hard at Art. Sculpting, drawing, painting and sketching was the many activities that he always seemed to love to do. Dominik worked hard on his art, constantly striving to be better.
He graduated Hammel’s high school portion at 18, just like he would have if he had never attended. He completed his training with his abilities at 19, as he didn’t seem too interested in expanding his abilities though he has complete control over it. After finishing up his schooling with Hammel he attented an Art University nearby. He had been pining for a position at Hammel since he graduated and he worked hard to complete those efforts. He graduated college at 23 with an AA degree in Art and design. Once he cleared that hurdle Dominik turned around and took three years away from Hammel merely to discover the country he lived in. His 25th birthday landed him with a close companion, a Peregrine Falcon named Gunther. He has the license and required paperwork to prove that. After his 26th birthday and his second exploration he applied for a teaching position at the school that started it all. Hammel accepted his application and he now roams the halls as a Teacher, a very dedicated Art Teacher.
Roleplay Example
[Setting: Returned home from another exploration of the United States, Sent in his application to his old school Hammel, considering the notion that he is actually nervous about going back]
Dominik sat perched on his apartment’s roof. Long legs stretched out before him, a soft breeze brushing his hair. The letter beside him stated his application had been accepted. He was a teacher now. And not just any teacher, an Art Teacher. This was good news for him but as it turns out the place accepting him was even better news. Hammel would allow him to be free from the burden of hiding. He wasn’t worried about what his family thought, as they accepted him, but he disliked the idea of being so quickly judged. Or called a witch. Actually that last part would probably amuse him. He felt his eyes glance up at the grey sky that Seattle seemed to favor. He had only recently returned from another adventure of his. His mother would be so upset that he was leaving again. Hopefully for good this time. His trench coat was his only shield for the gentle drizzle that erupted from that dreary sky, his brown eyes glanced up once before ignoring it. Was it a sign from the Gods? He almost laughed at that thought.
His gloomy thoughts were interrupted by a quick shadow that darted over him. He waited for a second before something sent a gush of wind against his face and dug sharp talons in to his shoulder. The large Peregrine falcon seemed to know what he felt, for it had given up it’s morning fly to sit with him. Large eyes peered at Gunther and small noises erupted from its deadly beak. Dominik felt his eyes roll once before he gave the bird of prey a once over. “Gunther you look positively outrageous.” He murmured to the bird, raising a free hand to stroke his head lovingly. Out of all the birds Dominik could communicate with he seemed to favor the falcon above all else. Naming it and keeping it as a companion was an easy thing to do. Their bond truly knew no bounds. The falcon seemed to regard him for a moment, as if pondering what to say. Most people would have laughed at such a thought but Dominik waited patiently. “Are we going?” The voice that touched his mind was always welcomed. He felt a smile tug at the corners of his lips as he lazily stroked the bird. This time his words weren’t spoken aloud but through a link that connected man to bird. His power, if you will. “Yes I suppose, we should like it.” His mind replied calmly back. Though his stomach felt nervous for once. Maybe they wouldn’t like it as much as he hoped they would.
He stood then, and adjusted his arm so the large bird could hop down to rest in front of his elbow. Dominik was oblivious to the claws at this point, though when he was younger they hurt like the dickens. The scars on his arms probably made people think he was a cutter, but alas Gunther didn’t clip his nails. Dominik turned and grabbed the letter up. Moving swiftly to the door of the roof. He would force himself to like it, and if he didn’t he could always just come back home. Yet he wasn’t so sure why that thought actually bothered him. Normally he was glad to be home. He gave the falcon a last look before dismissing any negative thoughts and making his way down the stairs. To his apartment which he would begin packing. And then on to a new adventure. He entered the apartment quietly. Most of his neighbors didn't appreciate a large bird such as Gunther near their cats. He pushed in to the small area and shut the door behind him. Brown eyes surveying everything he had ever acquired in the world. He let Gunther off on to a large perch made of pine. His form moved slowly from room to room. Looking out every window he could squeeze himself in front of. Taking in the view for what he hoped was the last time. His small apartment was cluttered with drawings and paintings. Random sculptures decorated the apartment throughout. He would be bringing them, no matter the size of his new living area. Just like he would bring all of Gunther's things. He glanced over to see the falcon watching him with a keen eye. The bird was far more intelligent then humans seemed to think he was. He could sense the unease and discord in Dominik's bones. But for now the bird was content to watch and see what would happen next. They would look out for each other, as they always had.
