General Appearance:
Imagine warm sand, crystal blue oceans and foamy tides rushing in, and then hesitantly fading back into the sea. Think of clear skies, maybe a hint of a cloud here and there, but the sun shining bright, big and bold. Welcome to Ventura, California, mates. This here Dylan Evans was born and raised a California beach bum. There's no mistaking her for one of the OC girls or even a stuck up Beverly Hills rich kid. Nah, it would be much more likely to get her confused with a long haired surfer guy instead. A tomboy, Dylan doesn't try to look much like the primped and pampered. Instead, she prefers to go al natural. You can spot her donning a wet suit most of the time, as she lives in a beach house literally less than ten minutes from the ocean. Long, sun bleached wavy hair and a long, lean and fit body accompany her board, a pair of aviators, Sanuks, a loose tee and short shorts or just a bikini bottom. As every day is paradise to her, she sees no reason in dressing up.
Personality:
The surfer's life is simple. Eat, sleep, surf. There's no need for the extra days filled with shopping, getting your tanning hours in, or window shopping for the latest boy to add to her strew of accessories. Instead, she prefers living life in the moment, and trying to enjoy every second of it that she gets. At the beach, she's one of the best surfers out there, but enjoys competing with the guys her age as well. Dylan has a handful of mates over on the West Coast, all who love the craft just as much as she does.
After the shark attack which manifested her powers, she still doesn't seem to be that much different, minus the fact that she's a lot more daring now. She usually won't say no to any challenge, considering her accelerated healing. She loves to sky dive, bungee jump, cliff dive, and do a whole lot of rough-and-tough activities with her friends and family.
For the most part, she's a laid-back, nature-loving individual. She's openly honest, and sometimes that can even get the better of her. She's also been considered a hippy or a tree-hugger of sorts. Many people asked her if she now hates sharks or is afraid to go in the ocean, and if her renewed spirit doesn't show enough, she explains to them that the shark that attacked wasn't really well..attacking. She was in its domain in the first place right? Sharks existed way before humans ever did, and were certainly in the water before them too. He was just checking her out, and that was its way of doing so. Plus, it let go after the one bite, and didn't go back for more. It was just its rather fierce way of saying hello.
Other notable characteristics include the fact that she's a vegetarian, but has a huge appetite. Usually she'll go for lots of raw fruit and smoothies, but her ultimate fix is endless veggie and extra cheese pizza. Since she's always trying to stay fit, she can basically eat whatever she wants, and sometimes even has a bigger appetite than the guys. She's sarcastic, down to earth, playful, and a comic, not only does she love to make people laugh, she loves to laugh as well.

History
The beautiful county of Ventura, California was her sacred homeland. In the late spring of 1992, May 22, Dylan Kai Evans was born without a single girly bone in her body. You could just tell from her name that that was exactly what her parents were going for. It probably was because of her mom's love for unisex names, so that the child didn't feel like they had to conform into what their name was.
Her mom, Molly, never really did like her name, as she always thought of some vintage pinup in a polka-dotted dress and lots of makeup on to fit that name instead of her. So she had always gone by her middle name, Alexandria, which she shortened to Alex. Her parents were sweethearts for almost five years before they married. They were beach-goers, both surfers from different areas (Rex was from Santa Cruz and Alex was from San Diego). But both settled in Ventura because it was less populated, with far fewer undesirable people and a lot more simple folk like themselves. They were friends for three years, and then were dating for two, before they were married on the beach, soon after having their first kid, Brett, Dylan's older brother. Two years later, Dylan was born.
Although they were young, they were beach bum babies. Whether Dylan and Brett were building sand castles with moats or splashing around in the water, everyday, without fail, they were at the beach with their parents. This not only built a strong relationship in their younger years but it built a very close knit bond between all of them for many years to come.
Even though she's a teenager, she really never had that 'Oh I hate my parents and wish they would just butt out of my life' state. In fact, as the baby in the family, she really misses them, and wishes rather that she could relocate Hammel to much warmer destinations than in the middle of nowhere Vermont, just to be closer to her loved ones, her friends, and ultimately, to get her life back to normal.
At sixteen, she manifested after what some people might consider a bad fall that could have been potentially fatal. It was late afternoon, nearly evening with the sun beginning to set in the sky. Dylan had been with her best friend, Skyler and they were enjoy the solitude of the few waves that they had. The wind was pretty stagnant and the tide didn't really seem to be pulling, so the waves were ultimately small. Skyler would paddle out, Dylan behind her, and each would take turns as the waited for a wave to emerge, and then watch as the other would ride one after another. That's how many evenings had passed throughout their child- to teenhood, but that night seemed to have other plans. It was Dylan's go, and as the wave rose up, she paddled, popped up, and began to ride through it. All was well until she went to finish up, and felt a bite down. She was knocked off her board, and dragged under. Of course, she was panicked, but had been trained how to act in situations of an attack. She needed to focus on stopping the bleeding, which was coming from her ankle, defend herself, and get the hell out of the area. First, to defend herself, she punched the shark in the gills and near the eyes, which are said to be the most sensitive of areas for a shark, finally kicking its nose with her other available foot, as the nose is the sensory organ for the shark, and inhibiting that would be the best for your own survival. Luckily, that seemed to work, and the shark let go, as if frozen in space as it tried to regain its focus. Next, she swam and pushed herself back towards the surface of the water to call for Skyler. Luckily, her best friend had managed to catch what happened for her, and was already looking for her. When Dylan managed to call out for help, Skyler was there within seconds, and did all she could to lift Dylan onto her board, and paddle back to the shore as fast as she could. But while Sky was working on that, Dylan needed to make sure she was doing everything she could to stop the bleeding.
Unfortunately for her, she wasn't wearing a wet suit that day, and instead, board shorts and a bikini top. She used her own hands to press around the area, hoping that would do something to stop it, but as that didn't seem to be working, and she was indeed in a lot of pain, she didn't have much else. When she got to the shore and was laid down on the board, Sky grabbed a towel and yelled for help. Within minutes Dylan was starting to go into shock, although people were surrounding her. She didn't want to look at the bite, but knew she couldn't feel her right foot, and wasn't even about to try to move it. Worried, confused, and in shock, she fainted at the scene.
When she woke up again, she was in a hospital room, attached to all these tubes and machines and the sort. She leaned forward, noting she was a bit lightheaded, but otherwise fine. She looked down at her leg, which was wrapped up in what looked like enough cloth bandages to make a sail for a boat. Curious, she touched the area just above the wrapping and pressed down, to see if she could feel her leg. Interestingly enough it felt just like that, a normal leg. She wondered if that's how it was supposed to feel. Her curiosity continued, and as she made a glance towards the closed door and nearly empty hallways, she went to unwrap the bandage. After she unrolled the whole thing, she took off the gauze, which came off willingly. Perplexed by this, she closed her eyes as her raw skin came into view, but not fast enough to see her ankle. She opened her eyes again to reveal a smooth, healthy skin layer on her leg, without any sign of scars or the attack. Just to make sure she wasn't dreaming, she went to touch the area, and even press down on it. It felt normal, no pain whatsoever. She wriggled her toes on her left foot, and then her right. All ten little guys moved. Now was a the time to test the waters, although at this point in time, she was too elated to talk. Had this really happened? Was this really happening right now? She ripped off the tubes from her hands and arms and face, and tried to get out of bed and do the unthinkable from someone with that sort of injury; she was going to try to walk. She plopped down off the bed, and then balanced herself. Dylan started with her left, and then right, left again, and right. Within only a few minutes, she was able to walk again just like normal. Now this was just insane. It was like..she couldn't get hurt. With that boost of pride, she grabbed her bags, left the room, and peaced out, calling her parents to let them know.
Needless to say, when she got home to see her brother there, here parents not yet home, she nearly made him topple over the couch and fall backwards, but that only won both of them a laugh before she explained the situation. He was a little weirded out at first, but it wasn't long before he started laughing about it and hyping about how awesome that was to have. When her mom and dad made it home, she showed off her dance moves and showed them her leg, professing that she'd miraculously been healed. They were amazed by it, and thankfully not freaked out at all, being the loving parents that they were. The night had ended with a trip to the surf.
Unfortunately, this fun couldn't stay long enough. She was soon 'discovered' by these guys who called themselves 'Recruiters', telling her she had 'meta-human' abilities. She'd heard of that before, but always assumed they were talking about people that could do huge stuff like weather control or reading minds and whatnot. How did this healing stuff count? But evidently they wouldn't take no for an answer, and she was practically forced to leave her life behind and head up to Nowhereville, Vermont where it was on average at least 30 cooler than back at home on the Coast. She was told that she'd learn how to 'fully control' her ability, but Dylan really didn't know how that could be. Maybe she'd be able to learn to recoup a lot faster than before? Did that mean they'd be throwing pointy sharp stuff at her trying to see how fast she could heal? Dylan knew for certain she wouldn't accept being a lab rat, and made that perfectly clear to everyone of authority she came by.
Needless to say, she was definitely a problem child during her first year at Hammel. She questioned authority and was extremely disinterested in any of her academics, after all, how were these normal classes any different from back at home? Her lethargic and lackadaisical attitude landed her in detention on more than one occasion during her first year, but after summer break and returning back home for a short while, visiting her friends and family and getting her life back, she realized something: it would be much more beneficial if she tried to be good, got passing grades, and didn't give the teachers sass. She would do what she needed to to get out as soon as possible, and then bust that joint and run her butt back to California as fast as she could. This year at Hammel had to be better than the last. She would be more open, make some actual friends, you know, try to live with what she had instead of only longing for what she had before all of this.
