Name: Mayu Nami Yoshiko
Nicknames: May, Mahlyenki Dyavol
Age: 16
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Telepath- Mayu is not the strongest of telepaths, finding her range to be considerably less then that of others who have the same power. She can hear the thoughts of anyone within a 30ft circle around her, though it is easiest to do when she is in contact with the person. HOWEVER, there has been only one exception to this rule. The exception being that she is able to read the thoughts of someone that is essentially screaming in their heads.

General Appearance:
Mayu is a small girl who barely stands to a height of five feet and two inches. She is the kind of person who can be easily overlooked as another face in the crowd. This does not make her unattractive, just easily forgettable. Being so short she weights very little and is very slight in frame, or what the french call petite. For an Asian girl, Mayu is abnormally pale with unblemished skin that never seems to have any blackheads or pimples. She has her daddy's dark chocolate eyes with a thin caramel colored ring around her iris.
Mayu wears your average clothes, nothing to stand out too much unless it is a holiday or party. Her standard "uniform" is jeans, some different kind of silly shirt, and ankle covering converse. This makes her look the reverse of her current family, who all stand out constantly. She is easily mistaken as a wallflower sort of girl, just by judging on appearance.
Personality:
Mayu is a very quiet girl who doesn't express herself as often as she should. Yet that doesn't mean she is a complete walkover, in fact if you push the right buttons she might just blow up at you. Like every person she has her moments where rational thought does not come into play, such as whenever her brother is around. Times like that means that she is quite louder then normal and will say whatever enters her mind. Any other day she is a quiet and docile individual who spends a majority of her time with her nose in a book or her head in the clouds.
She is an air headed person who can easily forget what you just said, or thought. This means Mayu will be constantly writing things down in her little black book to record everything she had heard that day, just so it didn't slip out of her mind within five minutes. May is a romanticist who would much rather believe that two people are thinking loving thoughts together then what they are actually thinking of one another. This means even though her power gives her a pass into peoples minds, she would much rather be thinking up her own story about people.
Mayu doesn't believe in using her powers to harm people, which might be impossible since she is only a Telepath. But she still tries to respect peoples privacy for the most part. However anytime a stranger comes up to talk to her, she finds herself meeting a stranger she can't help but to read their surface thoughts to make certain she is not in any sort of danger. May doesn't mind her ability anymore, but still only likes to use it to communicate with her brother when he's in cat form. This acceptance is helped by the fact she has been attending the academy since she was thirteen, a relatively young age for someone to have discovered their powers. Her like of the school is greatly increased since this is one of the few places on earth she feels accepted and not resented, her homes with Uncle Kent and Antosha being the other.
Atheism is Mayu's first and foremost religion, despite her strict Catholic upbringing. She believes that the universe exists, period. There is no great god, if there was then why would this said god allow them to live such an unhappy life? This doesn't make her totally oblivious to all other religions, she respects quite a few of them but she would never truly believe them. However Mayu loves to dabble in the Pagan arts, mostly their usage of various herbs and crystals in everyday life. She loves their codes to live by and keeps some for her own life. This is probably the extent of her religion practice as is and it would take a lot of convincing to bring her to any other frame of thinking.

History
Humansville was a town that thrived on the equality of every member of the community, and anyone who stood out could be rejected fast enough to make their head spin. This kept the couple constantly striving to fit in with all the small town country folks, which wasn't helped by their lack of a son, or their lack of any sort of child for that matter. Joshua was a construction worker, and Kaya was a tiny Asian woman who worked as a maid at the local motel. Yet however hard they worked to keep their heads down, the town already was against them just for on of their own, Joshua, marrying an outsider, Kaya. Now you might have asked why they called her an outsider, or why they didn’t move to another town. Well it was simple; Joshua had owned this house for all his life. Just as his father had, and his grandfather, and their great-great-grandfather who built it with his own hands. The family wasn’t going to give up the land until they were well and truly dead. Kaya was an outsider simply because she was not born and raised in Missouri, she wasn’t going to be accepted just on the basis of where she was born.
Finally it would seem life might get easier for the two when Kaya's monthly check up showed a positive result, they would have a child in December. So like every expecting father Joshua hoped for a son, and spent his hard earned money accordingly. Everything they bought for a child was for a baby boy, from the blue wallpaper to the ducky crib. Joshua had all his heart set on a son so maybe, just maybe, the towns people wouldn't hate them as much. One December 24, around 3:45 in the morning, a little girl was born.
Now, Mayu could never complain she wasn't loved by her family. Even from day one she was loved. Sure, her father had been expecting a boy. Sure, he was devastated that it wasn't a son. But that didn't make his love for his first daughter any less. The second Joshua had found out he had a daughter rather then a son, he put in an emergency phone call to his eccentric brother in an attempt to find the money to pay to fix the entire nursery. Kent was all too happy to comply and sent over the money to help. So yes, Mayu could never complain she wasn't loved.
Mayu went to school like a normal little girl; with a smiling face and no thoughts that life wouldn’t be perfect. She made a few friends, loved to play with her dollies, and worked hard in every aspect of her life. Nothing bad ever happened to the little girl, everyone seemed to like her and she could always be seen smiling. Smiling but not really talking, ever since she was little Mayu was the quiet one and as she got older it never seemed to disappear.
Mayu loved her birthdays to death, and would always be counting the days until she got to turn older. It meant her Uncle Kent would be coming to visit her once again, despite whatever attempts Joshua made to stop him. In this small a town he stood out like a sore thumb and didn't even bother to tone down his arrival. So any time she got to see her crazy uncle the better. However one year, just before her twelfth birthday, Uncle Kent arrived with a new face for the dinner table. It was an older boy, three years her senior, with plaster skin and deep haunting eyes. Kent introduced him as Antosha Vikenti, an orphan that would be staying with him. She didn't know at the time, that Antosha was a shifter that attended a special school which would become her future home.
Antosha was her friend even though they rarely saw each other. They were like twins to each other, connected at the hip, and never apart. Now some people thought this was a bad idea, seeing as he was already but no one dared to try and separated the two. Uncle Kent became a permanent feature in her young life throughout the next few years, secretly discussing Mayu's future without her knowledge. Though few in this town but the two brothers knew it, Kent had the ability to sense growing talents in young children. This made him slightly valuable in the meta human world, or at least at the school where he would help out at.
But you see, this year was different for Mayu. It was her twelfth birthday and Kent was aware that her power would be manifesting soon. He spent the next six months convincing them that she should go with him so that she might be able to go to school as soon as her powers showed themselves. Finally Kaya and Joshua agreed, letting Kent take their daughter back to his house in Pilot Ridge. Mayu lived here until her power manifested itself and she was sent to Hammel Institution almost immediately after her thirteenth birthday.
In the past three years Mayu has made very few friends and learned the control of her power, to some extent. She kept her head down and kept herself quiet so she never had to deal with other people besides her older brother. But as time progressed she slowly came out of her shell to try and meet new people and expand her views.
Roleplay Example
Andrew had no reason for why he left his dorm room to head out among the streets of Whitley. Absolutely none. Except for the fact his brother had work that night. And 'Drew was feeling lonely. Very lonely. So could you blame him for telling his roomie to shove off? No, no you couldn't. It would be as hard as telling a puppy not to wag it's tail. Or poop on the floor.. But that was totally besides the point.
He was out here, freezing off his butt for a brother who didn't even have work. Markus's boss had rudely shut the door on his face, not even bothering to tell Andrew where he had went. So now he was cold and had a rather large red mark on his nose. Like Rudolf the stupid reindeer. Andrew breathed life into his cupped hands, which get protected by the cold by a thin pair of fingerless gloves. Yes, fingerless gloves because he was so smart.
The streets started blending into trees as he walked, slowly loosing sense of where he was. Yet, not five feet ahead, was a very familiar figure. "Marky!" Andrew giggled ecstatically, racing over to jump on top of his sprawled out brother. His black and white skull scarf was wrapped around his neck as he leaned down and nuzzled his brother's face. "Found youuu!"
