The Basics
Name: Phoenix Phineas Phillips
Nicknames: Fee, Nix, Phil, Phillips... Actually, just about anything you want to call him, he'll respond to it. Especially if it starts with a "Ph" sound.
Age: 17
Orientation: Heterosexual, but many suspect otherwise
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Animal Control, particularly canines (Primarily communication rather than control). Also, Shape-Shift into a Border Collie. Shape-Shifting is his primary ability, but he doesn't let many people in on that secret. Most think that Animal Control is his primary ability and that he's just not very good at it.

The Details
Hair Color:Brown, brown, brown. He keeps it cut long - but not GIRL long, just enough to look wicked cool.
Eye Color:Brown, brown, brown! Puppy dog brown, one might say.
Any Piercings?Both Ears
Any Tattoos?Not yet...
Any Scars?DUH! Phoenix is a rambunctious teenage boy after all! Of course, pain isn't nearly as memorable as frickin' rockin' good times, and so he doesn't often remember when or where he got his scars... But he'll be happy to make it up if you really want to know!
General Appearance: Phoenix is a pretty typical teenage boy in appearance: his limbs seem to have grown faster than his mind can process and accommodate for, faster than the massive amounts of calories he takes in can fatten them up. As a result, he's tall and lankily lean. And clumsy. Very clumsy. Along with his long, flailing limbs is his long, wispy hair. It's always cut long - but not GIRL long, ew no, he LIKES girls but he doesn't want to LOOK like one! It frames his face well, coming down over his forehead almost to his eyes, sweeping around down over his ears.
There are a couple of things which might as well be considered part of Phoenix's appearance even if they are not, strictly speaking, fixed attributes. First and foremost is his large smile: few people in the world have the ability to catch him NOT smiling. One of those people is the second part of his additional appearance - his counterpart, his partner-in-crime, his best friend forever, his... well, you get the point: Faith Featherly. The only thing harder to separate from Phoenix than his smile is Faith.
One more thing about Phoenix's appearance must be noted: as a shape-shifter, he does not always appear as a human. Though few know it, Phoenix can morph into a border collie. In this form, his hair is just as shaggy as normal, though now it is black and white instead of brown. Black is the predominant color with white chest, white "socks", and a thin white line coming down his face then widening to engulf the end of his muzzle with a couple spots of black on the right side.
Personality: Phoenix Phineas Phillips is a Grade A Goofball! It's not that he likes playing jokes on people - unless they're fun-spirited and no one could get hurt, he doesn't pull pranks. Rather, he's just a silly goof who likes to have fun whenever possible. No, seriously; the boy doesn't even seem to understand the meaning of the word serious. According to him, everything in life is sunshine, rainbows, unicorns, and... um... things that are more manly than sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns while still being totally cheerful. The eternal optimist, Phoenix doesn't just see the glass as half-full, but he sees the empty half as a great opportunity to get a bit more! Indeed, he can find the positive in everything in life - at least, he hasn't yet found something he couldn't spin positively.
Another word that Phoenix doesn't seem to know the meaning of is stranger. If Phoenix encounters someone he doesn't know, he jumps on the opportunity to make a new friend, and within moments the stranger is no longer a stranger. Friend, however, is a very strong word in his vocabulary. Once he's introduced himself and learned your name, he will consider you to be his friend. What's more, he is always searching out opportunities to make new friends or mingle with old ones. If Phoenix is alone in a room, he'll find another room to be in that has people. He is a member of almost every club that Hammel has to offer that will have him. At parties, he is the ultimate social butterfly, bouncing all around to make sure he gets to talk to absolutely everyone.
Phoenix is actually a rather intelligent boy, even though he doesn't always show it. However, he's not much of a reader and he usually needs someone to TEACH him in order to learn. Part of this is because he's a people pleaser to the extreme; he's likely to learn from others simply because he knows it will make them happy.
In many ways, Phoenix is actually a very demanding personality. He is constantly energetic - so much so that one might think he was manic depressive if he ever had depressive swings. He is a person in need of constant attention, constant activity. His body and mind are both in constant motion, making him very hard to keep up with. Fortunately, though, since his mind is so busy he's likely to be on to the next person by the time he exhausts you. Like the typical ADHD child, he can't sit in a chair without fidgeting, can't keep from touching and playing with everything in sight, rarely stops talking long enough for anyone else to get a few words in the conversation, and will even talk to himself to keep from having to sit in silence.

Secret: Truthfully (no pun intended), Phoenix doesn't keep much to himself. The closest thing to a secret that he has is that he's a shape-shifter, and while most of the students don't know, it's far from something that NO ONE else knows. Even if he wanted to keep secrets - which he doesn't - he wouldn't be very good at it.

History
Phoenix Phillips was born at Massachusetts General Hospital and grew up in Boston. His parents, Bob and Sandra Phillips, are fans of alliteration, thus the name Phoenix Phineas Phillips. In the next room, born just a couple of hours after he was, was his parents' best friends, Alex and Tracy Featherly - also fans of alliteration, thus newborn Faith Featherly and her older brother Felix. The two grew up on the same street - Tufts Street - just a few houses down from one another, and their parents made sure they had the same teachers at Harvard/Kent Elementary School. The two were the best of friends, never apart if they could help it, and intending on living their lives that way.
Felix Featherly, as close to Phoenix as he was to Faith, was found to have Flight powers. This was hard for the two youngsters, partially because they truly missed Felix when he moved to The Hammel Institute, and also because from then on they worried that Faith would also manifest powers and Phoenix would not. Indeed, no one was surprised when Faith was found to have Power Mimicry powers at age 13. More surprising, however, was that Phoenix was concurrently found to manifest Animal Control powers, with canines.
Still the best of friends, Phoenix and Faith - FeeFee as they like to refer to themselves - take all the same classes at The Hammel Institute except for those specific to their powers. They are members of all the same clubs - almost all of them. And they are about to turn 18... Watch out world! This history is only just beginning!
Roleplay Example
Libby and Linny had been best friends practically since before they had been born. Their parents had been best friends, the two had been born just a few hours apart, and prior to Linny's injury Libby couldn't think of a single entire day that they had been apart. They loved almost exactly all the same things, belonged to all the same clubs, took all the same classes, and had even been named Prefects together. Libby's entire life had always revolved around Linny, and his around her. Sometimes she hated even having to sleep in a separate room from him because while she lay in bed she thought of a million and one things she really wanted to tell him that she knew she wouldn't remember in the morning. Indeed, they regularly wrote each other middle-of-the-night notes that they exchanged in the morning.
While she knew she couldn't even begin to compare her experience to his, Linny wasn't the only one who'd had a hard time coping with what had happened in the wake of the Astronomy Tower explosion. For weeks while she'd been barred from the Hospital Wing (and thus visiting Linny), Libby felt as though a big part of herself was missing. She had cried more than she had in her entire life. The only thing that kept her going, kept her from slipping into the darkness like Linny, was the thought of being reunited with him.
I don't want it. All of those hopes were crushed by the four simple words he spat at her. Those four words - the tone they carried, all the underlying connotations, the blank way he glanced at her - reached into her chest, curled around her heart, and ripped it out. For a moment she was frozen to the spot and speechless for one of the first times in her life. She may not have been in the Astronomy Tower when it came crashing down, but she knew exactly how it must have felt. Her entire world was crumbling to rubble around her, and nothing in her life had prepared her to deal with it.
Finally, after what felt like hours though it had only been a couple seconds, Libby slowly walked towards this stranger who looked like her best friend. She sat down in a chair near his, scooting it even closer.
"What are you talking about?" she asked in a tone she didn't recognize as her own. It was slow, imbued with pain. "He's yellow. His name starts with an 'L'. He's big, slimy, and gross!" She removed the snake from around her neck and put it around his. "He's perfect for you!"

How Did You Find Us? Oh shoot... The proboards directory... gave me some RP directory? Which I have already closed.
Ready To Play? HECK YES! (...Or I will be once I finish this app lol) FYI: In case you can't tell, this app is done in semi-first person. While I AM a total spaz, I am fully capable of controlling it in my writing. Phoenix, however, is not. So, like, "Brown, brown, brown. He keeps it cut long - but not GIRL long, just enough to look wicked cool." is really more of Phoenix speaking than me!
