General Appearance: In all honesty, Aternity is a rather bland body built around a lightweight chassis, but if you look closer, you may find that he has more in store than one might initially think. By face, you may think of him as some sort of hipster. He wears glasses, has his hair generally cut short, his facial hair cut rather the same way, although not completely. His look is clean, stylish, but remaining utilitarian. The quickest thing you'll notice is height. He stands at a rather incredible six feet, five inches, a good deal above most other men, much less women.
On another note, Aternity is of course, of foreign origin, and carries many of those traits as well. He has a fit, albeit not muscular body. He's got a flushed skin tone from living in Russia and Iceland for the first 17 years of his life, and is something that hasn't changed even with the exposure to a moderately warmer climate. In this, he still tends to wear lighter clothing going out, given that he prefers the colder weather. Oddly has an affinity for deeper colors, generally black, red and green. The last bit about him is the probably the most outlandish about him. His left arm is completely metallic. Cybernetic if you will. It works as a normal arm, but it's just not made of natural material anymore. Portals cause accidents. Simple as that.
Personality: Aternity's personality has undergone quite the change through his history, from snarky and cynical to flat out affectionate, to his demeanor now, which is actually a rather happy medium between the hostile and loving extremes. It's difficult to gain both Ternie's trust and respect, given that most of his positions have been based around quantitative data and programmed algorithms; he's a smart guy, and first and foremost relies on solid data to create interpretations of things, and on occasion, people. Of course, a lot of this is observational. If he sees you being a jerk, or that you have ignorant tendencies, he is quick to dismiss and distrust.
Despite having these bad sides of his, Ternie is more human than he might let on. He does enjoy a good drink with friends, he loves going out, and he grants that there are indeed some awesome people, many of whom he does allow into his life given their proof they aren't completely ignorant or terrible people. In the most general of sense. Attempting to get a favor out of him is still difficult without an exceptionally good reason, although being a friend certainly does make things easier. Aternity understands the value of trust and relationships quite well, and is often hesitant to enter any situation that may compromise either. Overall, he's someone to trust, and while often seen carrying a higher purpose, is generally down to earth, realistic, and not a bad conversation. Don't by shy.
Your Vices

Dislikes: CRT television, drummers, rap & country, Mohito...usually.
Strengths: Playing bass, his job as a teacher, programming, trolling, cooking.
Weaknesses: Swimming, dealing with any more than three people at a time, organization, baking, drumming.
Fears: Swimming pools, that Lunari may get angry with him at some point, and surprisingly, being alone.
Secret: Aternity used to sell encryption software to business clients as freelance work during his doctorate studies. One of the clients was the NSA. Even he doesn't know this. They're tricky like that.

History
Early Childhood: Born to the Russian, Arkady Awren and his Salish wife Aurora, Aternity is the last born of four children, and the twin partner of his sister Terrene. Like the rest of his siblings, Aternity was born in a small town in west Russia, and lived roughly six years of his life there before moving to Switzerland. This would have rather seriously implications later on, but thankfully would save Ternie from a terrible education in his homeland.
Abilities Manifest: Aternity has always had an affinity for spacial relationships and distance. He could guess how far one place was to another with rather good accuracy, and it was rare that he ever felt vertigo. The reason for this would become manifest in Switzerland, where somewhere between the ages of twelve and thirteen, Ternie would find some difficulty with even walking. No longer could he judge distance versus time, and yet other things looked...out of place. His parents, also possessing powers or abilities were quick to point out what was happening. He was developing the power to make distance meaningless. Portals and teleportation were part of his being, and knowing what was coming earlier, had already spoken with an admissions counselor at Kocher. Almost overnight, Ternie's routine changed to a school filled with people like him. Man, was that going to be a fun trip.
Kocher: Aternity's studies at Kocher would prove to be a huge defining time period for him, among other students. Not only did he manage to control and even master his power, but many of his teachers found him a prodigy for computers, math and music...specifically in the bass for the third. Aternity was also an accomplished runner, although he had always had difficulty in studying English, finding it to be incredibly boring, and far too subjective to actually communicate. That said, he spoke well...but hell be upon anyone to make him write about something that he didn't otherwise enjoy.
Welcome To Life: Ternie graduated Kocher at the age of eighteen with excellent grades in quantitative subjects, and not quite as good grades in those writing subjects he didn't enjoy. Even better, he had learned to control his two...one ability, although he had lost an arm in an accident. It wasn't particularly fancy, but instead incredibly useful. Aternity, while holding a driver's license, doesn't own a car, and will probably never need to. Immediately after graduation, Aternity attended the University of Iceland for four years, meeting Matrim Gallagher along the way during an internship at a local high school. Aternity's first bachelor's was in computer engineering. On another note however, Aternity found that he was gaining more enjoyment not in programming for a living, but in teaching. He used the first for his livelihood...but that would slowly change.
Going Professional: Hammel would not be Aternity's first full time teaching job. For the next couple years, he would spend his time achieving his doctorate in computer science and security from MIT, although it would take much, much longer than normal due to a huge range of subjects he had interest in; nanotechnology and robotics included. 6 years actually. During this time, he would live the most of his life studying...playing bass as a studio musician, and teaching high school mathematics courses. Part of his studies however involved something special. The study behind meta-human abilities, their analysis and uses. It was an incredibly broad range, and at the end of six years...professional qualifications in hand, Ternie moved to Vermont and the Hammel Institute, knowing full well of the meta-human education system. There, he would become a professor for meta-human studies and abilities training, while doing his own personal research.
Life was starting. Now...where was it taking him?
Stuff That Didn't Quite Fit: The story behind Rory the Goat is a special one. Matrim Gallagher, a friend from university served some time in the military in Afghanistan. During this time, Aternity was recruited on several occasions as a civilian contractor programming security software for the military. During a field test at a local village, the team he was assigned with came under attack. Aternity was responsible, being without a gun, to get civilians into shelter Doing this successfully, the village credited him with their lives, (although the attack was over a mile away) and gifted him a goat. Denying a gift from the people is an insult, and so, now in Vermont, Aternity's house includes a pet goat, along with a cat named Jenkins.
Science Behind Power: Aternity's power is two-fold, granting him the incredible ability to warp space to his whim. In manifest, this grants him the power to teleport, and create point-to-point portals. The ability to teleport is simple enough, find a point to warp to, either by picture, or by having been there, and warp. It's that simple. He's mastered the ability of moving himself almost anywhere on Earth in an instant. The transport of more than one other being is possible theoretically, although sadly, the stress of this means that the thing Ternie that teleports with himself doesn't come out whole...including himself. It also expends enough energy to knock him clean out. He generally wakes up, but because of the danger, relies more on his second ability to move larger objects. (And create some safety for others around him.)
Portalling is different from wormhole use in that instead of instantaneous transportation, Aternity can open sustained, man-sized portals on flat surfaces that are large enough for such a doorway to be opened. He doesn't need to be around for these doors to be open, which means he can open one, travel to a new spot, and open another. However, teleporting to that new spot warps the portals in such a way that they will collapse. Only a single pair of portals can be opened at once, and although the limit is untested, usually only up to an hour at a time. During this time, anything barring other living beings can pass through. Those that do attempt simply run into whatever the doorway is mounted on.
Side effects include a sense of vertigo, a feeling of going 'down the drain for those going through portals. Aternity's blind jumping ability is not perfect, and while safeguarded against appearing in solid objects, he has been known to end up inside bank vaults, inside prisons, and occasionally out in the middle of the ocean. A picture, or his own knowledge contributes to a safer landing.
Roleplay Example
Aternity had told himself it would be easy, and sure enough, it was. Now what would the crazy lady have in store for all the students this time? Would it be what was in the bag? Or would it be something much more devious and sinister? Aternity had his mind set on a combination of the two. What was in that bag was to be the devious and sinister plan she had thought up, and as they all lined up, the boy did catch a glimpse of what the game would be.
Crud. Blindfolds?
So not cool. As explained, they'd all be running through the forest pretty much blinded and bound. Which meant because Aternity couldn't see, he couldn't jump, and with nothing to touch, this was going to be a very bad day, unless he once again called on a little help from the brother he so desperately DIDN'T want to call.
College students too, now what the hell.
After Natasha yelled 'GO!' the boy was reluctant to get started...he needed eyes, and soon enough, he'd get them, maybe.
Solly, I need you to find a student away from the group I'm in, about, hell, I don't know where, I'm pretty much blind.
Alright, 45 degrees left and...
*Thump*
Oops. I meant 50.
SOLLY!
Sorry, just keep walking, you're doing fine.
That punk. he was going to bite it after all this was over.
