Jethro, Moral Compass (Literally)

Alright I'm trying to generate some relationships here so my first IC post is not all lonesome and stuff. This is mostly to get his face out there and help me keep track of the friends/foes/etc that he has. You can find his profile by clicking the name.

A quick synopsis would be that he is an old-fashioned guy, despite being a mere seventeen. He has a strong sense of right and wrong, coupled with a rather pragmatic nature. As a rule he tries to avoid conflict but is not completely averse to it, especially when someone is doing something that goes against his moral compass.

Something of a nerd-jock hybrid. He would be the last person to identify himself as such but he does have a certain amount of physical aptitude (You should see him in archer mode). He often goes into town for various errands and because he likes the food there better.

Compatriots:
Generally, as long as you are a nice person, Jethro will generally get along with you. He is a decent enough guy if a bit of an odd duck. Anyone younger than him might find themselves with an adoptive older brother.

Antagonists:
This is a wide ranging category. Mostly anyone that can be deemed a prick. One of his favorite pass times is deflating egos, which means he is not exactly the most popular among the egotistical.

Intimacy:
Jethro is completely heterosexual but is actually rather inept when it comes to women. He can be a charmer and act very sweet but sometimes he has a bit of difficulty reading some of the subtler cues leading to many missed opportunities.

Current Relationships:
Annabella Rae - Friend, makes a habit of breaking into her dorm room to beat her Xbox games before she can. This may lead to certain rumors being spread.

Cole Kessler - Friend, can be counted on for video games and assisting in annoying Bell.

Zachary LaRousse - Foe, Jethro is engaged in an organized assault on his ego.

Jethro & Kou: I could imagine Jethro and Kou meshing. Since he moved a lot because of his father's work, so they could bond over that, especially if some of that time was in Japan. Personality-wise, they seem compatible... Jethro might find Kou on the cocky side but maybe he needs someone to bring him down to earth. Maybe they could be buddies in class or something? But there is a HUGE catch here. Can he control his ability? If it's constant or accidently goes off I can imagine that Kou would hate him if he mucks up any of his gadgets (and depending on the strength of the field, he could)... actually, that might be the one thing that determines if he considers Jethro a friend or enemy, haha.

Pretty much Jethro has a constantly shifting magnetic field around his immediate person unless he concentrates hard enough to shut it all the way down. It is not strong enough to haul bits of metal up to smack him in the face but there are some other effects. He can control and ramp up the effects to do things like lift steel girders and wrap pipes around his hands if he wants to.

I did some research into modern electronics and the effects of magnets on them. What it boils down to is that most modern electronics are mostly immune since they no longer rely on magnetic tapes to store information. However, things like screens and sophisticated communication devices would likely have some problems around him. Screens, especially ones he touches, will probably pick up dead pixels until they are reset. Cell phones would have a harder time picking up a signal, and experience interference. The battery would drain faster as it tried to find a new signal as well. All of this would require close proximity to him.

Personality wise, Jethro is very down to earth so he would be a good restraining force on Kou. He'd make a good rock that could deal with Kou's various personality facets and force him out of his comfort zone as needed. If Kou needs a swift smack to get him out of cocky or nihilist streak, Jethro would be more that happy to provide that, or to threaten his precious electronics.

Thanks for the clarification! A few of Kou's gadgets are rather intricate and most (if not all) of them would be connected to some kind of network. That could be a blessing and a curse, as being near Jethro would probably make it impossible to do the online stuff he finds refuge in, which would force him to interact with the people actually around him.

I'd suppose that Kou would resolve to keep his more precious electronics away from Jethro -- for instance, he'd never invite him to his dormroom since most of his complicated stuff is there. Kou'd also have to make him swear that he'd never ever touch any of his gadgets (even if that's a paranoid notion). Lastly, he'd just have to get used to his stuff not always working correctly when Jethro's in the vicinity.

The other stuff sounds really great! I can totally see Kou as regarding Jethro as that one guy he won't admit is a friend, but actually comes to appreciate a lot. Hopefully Kou will be able to contribute something to Jethro too?

Well, Jethro does have a little faith in mankind but it wavers from time to time. Having a chance to subject Kou to a social life would do him some good in reaffirming his beliefs that people have the potential for growth. That and it would give him a reason not to go on a scorched earth campaign whenever the jerks of the school pulled some BS or other.

Since I basically suck at all the weird intro shiz, I figure I’d go and start my (possibly crappy) plot idea for Jethro.^^.

Jethro and Zac
Zac is an asshole of a brat, rich and spoiled beyond compare. He’s one big bully, his ego only matched in sized by his vanity. It really doesn’t help that he has the talents to back most of his bragging, from his academic record to his wealth. :3.
That being said, I figure Jethro will be quite the constant thorn up his side. They’re roughly the same age, with Zac entering Hammel only a year before Jethro, so I figure they’d have met each other by now. Not to mention they’re both part of the swim team (Zac thinks he’s the best swimmer around; it’s the only sport he does anyway). He has some serious problem with his morality (as he loves manipulating people around him) so I would really love to see Jethro try to calm the boy’s big ego. XD.

Oh please, don't let Jethro just lurk on the sides. Zac needs someone to stick it to his face that he isn't really helping and, well, Jethro's not too bad of a candidate really. Hopefully he can do something with Zac's I know you hate me, so what? You're just jealous outlook with his detractors. =P.

Also, black-eyes are <3. Zac needs to be shaken off his perceived throne after all. Though all hell might break lose should Jethro touch his hidden stash, just a warning. XD.

Haha, okay, fair enough. I'll quite happily engage in a vendetta against Zac. It involve a lot of baiting Zac's ego into challenges that he probably won't win or ruining moments with a well placed insult.

Some rules for triggering a black eye:
- Go after someone else in order to get to Jethro
- Manipulate someone with authority to get to Jethro
- Put Jethro in a situation where he could get physically injured
Those all set off his 'You've got a problem with me you deal with me' reflex.

I'm inclined to bother you with my one student. Heeeeere's ROBBIE!

He's like this big ball of derpy energy. Who's a weather manipulator. Most of it is just an act to be honest since he knows that if he goes overboard with his emotions, his powers would get triggered and DISASTER! But that doesn't change the fact that he's a pretty happy and friendly guy ^^ If Jethro even so much as smiles at him, Robbie would consider him a friend. Since they've both been around awhile, I figure they musta been friends before IF Jethro doesn't mind the annoyingly loud and flirty blond ^^

My plot ad is also very ready to be filled with connections so hit it up any time you wish ^^

Yeah, Jethro is a little more subdued and if they've both been there for a while then Jethro probably does know him pretty well. From his profile, I'd think it would be the kind of friendship where Jethro would likely be one of the first to call him an idiot but also one of the first to lend a hand. Expect noogies for particularly derpy moments.

Robbie's used to people calling him an idiot ^^ I think he started out faking it until he actually became one lulz. And he thinks people only give him noogies because they're secretly jealous of his pretty blond hair ^^
