The Basics
Name: Caden Jules Cameron
Nicknames: Jules, Pixie
Age: 21
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student Teacher (Foreign Languages)
Powers: Language Adaptation: This involved the ability to change languages to fit the situation or environment. Take for example, a trip to a different country. If Caden was to visit China, she would be able to speak the language perfectly without any prior education in the field. There are side effects to all powers, though and hers would include: tongue twisting, the inability to switch back to your native tongue (especially in the more juvenile state of power control), and of course, confusion.

The Details
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye Color: Green
Any Piercings? Nada
Any Tattoos? None as of yet, maybe as a birthday present?
Any Scars? Few nicks here and there from falls from her bike or skateboard, nothing too serious though. She does have a scar that looks strangely like a dolphin on her left elbow though.
General Appearance:
The 'All-American Girl' takes on a whole new approach. Gritty nonchalance is the movement these days, instead of your ribbon-tied pony tails, polo shirts and tennis bracelets. Caden is a girl with guts and gusto, a tomboy at heart. She finds herself wearing whatever she first touches after she groggily wakes up, doesn't try to really do anything with her hair or makeup, at least nothing too special and spiffy. She goes for more of the 'IDGAF' look than the 'well put together and organized' kind of person.
In all honesty, looks are the least of her issues, but she does like the culture behind her appearance. Here genes come from some very interesting lines, and her birthplace means more than you'd assume. From that, you can gather that her appearance is based on her life experiences, and her future endeavors; taking one day at a time. Life is chill and relaxed, just like how she tried to be.
Personality:
Despite the overall rough appearance, Caden can be a down-to-earth and fun-loving student teacher. An adrenaline junkie, Caden has been skateboarding for seven years now. In addition, she loves anything that will get her heart beating, including doing seriously crazy things that most wouldn't think about: cliff diving, cave diving, crazy stunts that seem pretty much impossible, and now has just gotten into parkour, but don't tell her insurance agent that.
She's got some hidden talents as well, some things that according to Johari's Window, would be in sector three, known to self but kept intentionally from others. She's a cellist, but not a performer in the least bit. Caden is a bit too self-conscious for lack of abetter word about her ability to share her love for music with others. That such thing she keeps to herself, and most likely will until the day that she dies.
In addition to the grungy and rather alternative style that Jules shows off, she's found in herself a bit of an inkling of dar behavior. Normally a goody two shoes, especially in school environments, such an emotion has yet to be discovered or experimented with. This might be a side effect to her rebellion and adrenaline junkie behaviors, but she's taking it with stride, some days devouring parts of this newfound emotion to see what comes of it next. It never hurt to mix things up, if for just a little while.
Still, as 'diverse' as her family is, split in two completely different directions, Caden stays as close to her family as she can, considering the distance. She was always closer to her father and Mama B (her name is Beatrice, and a nice compromise between mom and Beatrice was such), Caden still tries to keep in contact with her mom every month or so. From what she knows, her mother wants to get engaged to Chuck and move on out to California, so she'll be even farther away, making communications even more difficult, but its up to Caden, at least in her mind, to keep everyone one big, happy group of people.

History
Trailer Trash. Grungeball. Weirdo. Outsider. Those words ring a bell? For most of Caden's childhood, she was considered such. After all, she was born in a trailer, her father failing to get the car started in time for her mother to have a panic attack as she was giving birth in her own home. An only child, Caden was a summer baby, born in the sweet, sweaty Osceola, Arkansas. Her childhood was sweet and simple, with all the lovin's of country life; homemade peach cobbler and french vanilla ice cream on her birthdays instead of cake with far too much frosting, swimming and tire swing jumping at the lake a few miles off, and even some rodeos. Raised in the 4H club, Caden considered herself a master animal caretaker, and was obviously a lot cooler than those hoity toity Girl Scouts and their cookies. Who would want to buy cookies when you could buy ducklings or chickens?
After the split of her parents and her mother's new 'lifestyle' things started to get confusing for little Caden. Not only had she lost that bond between her parents, she was even starting to question who she was as an individual. Did anything she said matter to them? It didn't seem like she could make one bit of a difference either way. At only the age of eight, Caden's life seemed to be whirl winding backwards and upside-down.
Luckily though, her strong personality made it through to the end of that rather gloomy season. She knew that she could count on both of her parents to be there for her, even when her mother was out living with her new partner, and her father decided to remarry a nice Christian lady who had a green thumb and a great sense of good home cookin'. Life started to go back to a little bit of normal, if you could call it anything like that.
She found out after relocating to her Mama B's house (after her father proposed and married the nice young lady, they moved into her suburban two-story in Little Rock, and her mom stayed in the trailer with Chuck, her new love.) And from there, Caden relocated to a new public school, leaving her old friends and everything else she knew behind to start new again.
But as we all have surely experienced in our lifetime, life isn't always greener on the other side, and this was surely the case for Caden. Peers soon learned about her mom and her birthplace. These kids didn't like girls that had too many mommies, or girls that came from 'trailer dumps' as they liked to call them. To boot, Caden had begun her rebellious stage at around twelve, preferring combat boots to sporty tennis shoes, the skinniest of skinny jeans that she could fit her little legs into instead of flares or ruffled skirts. At first, these insults hurt her, but she knew that if she let those girls get to her, then she'd be miserable, and start questioning herself again. Did she really want to go through all of that again? Certainly not.
So in turn, she ignored them, and marched to the beat of her own drum. In school, she succeeded with flying colors academically, despite what appearances gave her teachers and later on, professors. They were astounded that she had a GPA of a high-running 4.0, adn as a present for her fourteenth birthday, Caden was given (in a joint program through her school for 'gifted' students) a trip to anywhere in Europe or Asia that her heart desired, for one week's stay, and within two weeks, she had her passport processed, her bags packed, and was being flown over to Thailand, the country of her choice. It certainly was a shot in the dark as to where she'd go, Caden was always spontaneous like that. Plus, who else in Little Rock got to go to Malaysia? Suck it preppies.
The course curriculum for her and about two other students from different schools in the same program, plus a teacher and a translator was quite simple: they were going to visit the illustrious city of Bangkok, the capital of the country, visit the Phi Phi Islands, go explore in the Nam Nao National Park, and go see and take pictures of the Ayutthaya temples. Their first stop was Bangkok, and they were to meet their guide in a small building off of one of the main streets. The group of them woke up early grabbed their map, and headed out, looking for this place.
Unfortunately, in any city, there is a chance of getting lost or losing your sense of direction because of the tall, vertical buildings. Just the thing happened. One moment they were on their way, about a half a mile away, according to the highly-creased blue and green map, and in another then minutes, they must have lost their turn or street-crossing, and now couldn't place where they were. The teacher was trying not to show any bit of anxiety, but who wouldn't be in a totally different place where their main language wasn't anything remotely close to English?
The teacher started to get in a squabble with the translator, trying to explain exactly what she was looking for, asking the translator to go look around for someone, anyone to help, although their translator was assuring her teacher that they were indeed on the right path, or just needed to backtrack. This left two of the three students, herself included, looking down at their shoes or up at the buildings. And then at the people. Maybe she could go and talk to them and figure out how to get to their designated location. She smiled at the idea and walked up to an elderly gentleman. She remembered herself saying, "Please help us, we are lost," but according to the man, she had indeed spoken to him in perfect Thai: "Kruṇā ch̀wy reā reā ca h̄āy pị." Of course, the old man was taken aback by her perfect language use, considering she certainly didn't look like any Thai he'd ever met, but still, as they had language symbiosis, he was able to direct them in their path. With that, she thanked the man politely with a smile, "K̄hx k̄hxbkhuṇ sexr̒,"went to go tell the adults what she had found out.
Oddly enough though, when she was hearing herself speak in a perfectly good English, her adults and the other two students were giving her the strangest expression, half of curiosity and the other of bemusement. What was so confusing that she was saying? Frustrated she grumbled and pouted. If they weren't going to listen to her, then who was?
She nearly stomped away, after overhearing their translator remark, "I never knew the girl knew how to speak Thai! Why didn't you tell me this before? She is remarkable for her age. How many years of training does she have?" And although the translator was most definitely enthused, Caden's teacher knew better, and knew for a fact that Ms. Cameron had never taken another language in her life, other than one semester in French. How could it be that she knew the language? No one in her family or her family's family knew it. No one in Little Rock probably knew it. But there she was, a now-fourteen year old girl speaking it like she'd been living in Thailand for her entire life. How could such a thing happen?
Well, they had their theories, and after looking into such abilities, and finding no normal homo sapiens DNA results for this, it was assumed that Caden was a little more special than they originally thought. She was smart, adventurous, spontaneous, rebellious, and now had a neat little skill called 'Language Adaptation'. Researchers figured that this gave her the ability to conform to any language in her environment, even without any previous knowledge. She thought it was awesome, but so did news stations. After all, something like that was big news in a town as small as hers.
Lucky for Caden, special people in tuxedos came to see her dad and Mama B a day before she was being pressured into being interviewed and shown off like cattle at a fair. He told her that he was from a school where people were like her, and had awesome abilities too. He told her that no paparazzi could get to her there, and it would be in the backwoods of a small town all the way up in Vermont. Maybe she should have been a little anxious, but the last minute plan thing was what she did best, and after agreeing with her dad and step-mom that it would be the best for her, she left her biological mom a phone message letting her know where she' gone, and not to expect as many calls from her (which mostly went to voicemail anyways).
Caden spent a good four years at Hammel, learning how to control her power, at least to an extent. She learned how to control her ability to recognize when she was speaking another language, and learned how to get out of the foreign tongue (for the most part) when she was finished using it. In addition to that, she developed meaningful relationships with her professors, keeping her grades up in the A's all four consecutive years to boot.
When it came time for Caden to choose where to go to college, it was a no-brainer. Although she loved and dearly missed her hometown, Caden had grown out of it, and was headed for bigger and greater things. She was accepted with a full ride to Bennington College in Vermont, pursuing a BA in Teaching, and a minor in Foreign Language studies. After all, although she was a natural, she would actually have to learn the grammar and linguistics behind the languages so that she could teach them to the students, otherwise, her degree amounted to squat.
As of now, Caden is a junior in college, and is an intern at her beloved school, Hammel Institute, as a foreign language student teacher. She'll just be starting off this semester, and hopefully it should run for two separate semesters in total before she has what she needs to graduate early. Perhaps after that, she will be able to teach at Hammel permanently, or head over to Australia or Europe on a whim and teach there. The world is her oyster.
