General Appearance: Elena is pretty tall, standing at roughly 5' 10". She's pretty slim since she's an athlete. She loves to swim and go for a run in the morning, so she has an athletic build. Her hair is long, just going past her shoulders. It's pretty curly and she usually leaves it like, but sometimes she'll straighten it. Usually she only does this for a special occasion. She's most commonly found with her hair down since it's a lot easier that way, but sometimes she'll throw it up in a messy bun. Lena has bright blue eyes that are usually sparkling in mischief. Elena has no actual sense of style. She likes to wear whatever is comfortable and still nice looking. She doesn't like to wear heals because of her height. Her most common combination of clothes is a pair of jeans, any tee, a leather jacket and a pair of Converse. Other than her aversion to heels, she'll wear pretty much anything. That is, as long as it isn't absolutely ridiculous.
Personality: You can really sum Elena's personality up in one word: blunt. She has no filter so most of the time whatever pops into her mind slips out of her mouth. It's only very rarely that she can hold back the flood of words. She's quite sarcastic and loves to have a verbal war or two. She delights in finding someone else who's fond of sarcasm and uses it on a regular basis. Lena is a friendly person and always tries to see the best in people. She knows that not everyone is good, but she refuses to believe that a person is entirely bad. There simply have to be some good qualities to them, even if they are used for not-so-good purposes. She'll try anything once which has gotten her quite a few spots of trouble in the past. Whenever the opportunity to do something new arises, she'll do it. When it comes to hobbies, other than swimming and running, she's quite flighty. One week she'll be obsessed with writing a book and the next she'll be attempting to do karate. She does consistently write in her journal, though. She usually writes a new entry weekly, even if it's only to say that she's had a really boring week. Elena is a rambler when you get her talking about certain subjects, so just try not to mention Harry Potter or Twilight around her. An hour later when she's still chattering away in your ear, you'll regret it.

History
Elena was born on the 3rd of December in Prince Charles Hospital in Wales, UK. She was an easy birth and three days 'late'. Her father was delighted with his little girl, but her mother was obviously unhappy. Whether she had been beforehand or not, Lena doesn't know. All she knows is that barely a month after she was born, her mother left her and her father. She's never heard from her since, and she's unsure if she wants to. Growing up, she was generally a happy, easy-going child. Her father doted on her, treating her if she was utterly precious to him. She, in turn, adored her father and practically worshiped the ground he walked on.
She had no idea that most kids her age had a mother and a father. When she found, she wasn't that bothered by it. She was completely satisfied with her life with just her father as a parent. It wasn't until she started school that she heard the whispers of not being good enough for her mother. She was filled with self-doubt after only a week of hearing these whispers, and when she confronted her father he explained that her mother was simply unhappy with her life and that it had nothing to do with Elena. Still, the doubt always lingered in her mind. It was never anything major, but sometimes she would be overcome by longing for the mother she never knew. When she was little, Lena liked to pretend that her mother was a spy and had to leave on a mission. When she turned 9, the fantasy faded away.
Other than the scandal about her mother's departure, Elena lived a mostly quiet life. She was well liked by her peers, she did well in school and she rarely argued with her dad. There were no big turmoils in her life. When she was 10, she and her dad moved to Ohio for a change of scene. They got settled in quickly and Elena quickly made some new friends. The doubt that came with her mother abandoning her had mostly faded away. And then she hit 11 and puberty started. Other than finding it terribly inconvenient, Lena didn't really dwell much on puberty. Her dad was a doctor and she knew quite a lot about the processes humans went through while growing up. It was only when she had to go for a full medical check that something appeared... odd. Her blood was different, the doctors said. Within a week of hearing this, she had received a letter from the Hammel Institute and had been visited by a staff member. She was told that she could shape-shift and though skeptical at first, she was quickly convinced when she accidentally turned herself into a giant teddy bear. The process had been extremely painful and the form had faded back into her normal shape before five minutes had passed, but it was enough to make her believe it as true.
That summer, her father and she moved to Pilot Ridge. When school started, she began attending Hammel and quickly got caught up in life there. She progressed quickly with training her abilities and can now hold her form for up to an hour. She still gets stuck and it hurts like hell, but she really enjoys the training. She loves life in Pilot Ridge and Elena is having a lot of fun with shape-shifting. Life so far at Hammel has been pretty quiet for her. Well, as quiet as life as a meta-human can be...
Roleplay Example
Rhosyn was bored. While not exactly a new feeling, she never handled it very well and often ended up doing something ridiculous, like going bungee jumping without the harness. Admittedly, it had been fun but not something she was going to do again. After all, she was never big on repetition. Sighing to herself, the vampire walked out of the living room she was inhabiting and into the hallway. She walked over to the old oak door, snatching up her keys from the side table and clenching them tightly in her hand. She eyed the numerous jackets hanging on the coat hooks before picking her usual, trusty leather jacket. She slipped it on and then opened the door, shutting and locking it behind her.
Stuffing the keys into her jean pocket, Rhosyn meandered slowly down the path to the street. Gnawing on her lip, she wondered where she should go. She didn't fancy going anywhere far, so it had to be in Mystic Falls. She didn't particularly want to stumble upon a group of teens high on drugs, so a walk around the forest was out of the question. Somewhere in town, then. The Grill sounded like a good idea. Decision made, Rhosyn started walking the familiar path to Mystic Falls' town center.
As she walked, Rhosyn briefly considered what had brought her to Mystic Falls. For almost her entire nearly 400 years of life as a vampire, she had been traveling the world without a companion. She had never given thought to settling down; she had always been a free spirit and that had amplified after she was turned. Of course, she was also distracting herself from the guilt of killing her brother. So maybe she wasn't a traveler, maybe she was just running from a past with too many dark times and not enough good ones. Yeah, that sounded about right.
Sighing morosely, Rhosyn shoved the thoughts to the furthers pits of her mind and forced an easy smile on her face. She always, always had to keep up her facade. Letting it fall would bring too many questions, because letting her act dissolve was the same as screaming to the world that something was very wrong with her. And that, right there, was completely unacceptable. It was the reason she didn't have many real friends. She couldn't be honest with them about her life, about her very nature, but expected honesty back? No, that was hypocritical and Rhosyn refused to be a hypocrite. Sighing once more, she again shoved the thoughts away and walked into the Grill.
It was packed with teens, half of them drunk and the other half acting like it. Rhosyn wrinkled her nose ever so slightly as she side-stepped a lumbering football player who looked like he was going to be sick. Ugh, no wonder adults are always moaning about teens, she thought as the adults conversation reached her ears. Shaking her head ever so slightly, Rhosyn strode up to the bar and asked for a vodka and coke. The bartender didn't mention her age and she assumed he was the one selling beer to the numerous drunken, hormonal balls that were the teens in the room. Smiling when he handed her her drink, Rhosyn gave him the money and wandered off to lean against the wall near the pool table.
There was a boy there, playing a game by himself. He has nice arms, she noted idly, sipping her drink as she leaned casually against the wall. There was something almost familiar about him, though she was sure she had never met the guy. No, something about his mannerisms, the way he held himself. Almost as if he was holding something back. It took her a moment to realize it was how she had acted in the first few weeks after change. So, he was a vampire then. Quite a new one, evidently. She tilted her head to the side and let her hair cascade over her shoulder. She righted herself when the boy looked up, eyes roving around the Grill. She assumed he was looking for a partner to play with. Pushing away from the wall, Rhosyn set her drink down on a nearby table and walked up to him.
"Mind if I join?" she queried, a friendly smile on her face.
