Ginny peered out the window of the second story classroom she and Kat had commandeered, pile of very green water balloons stacked between them, ready to be used as projectiles upon any unsuspecting person to cross the quad. The balloons had been left over from Thursday, remnants of a St. Patrick's Day celebration her father would never learn the full details of; she was fairly certain he wouldn't have approved of the drinking that celebration entailed.
The beer had been 'donated' to the fraternity hosting the party, but the balloons had gone home with her and she'd needed something to do with them. Not that this had been the first thing to occur to her; tossing them at people, yes. With the help of a teacher? No, that hadn't crossed her mind at all.
But then she'd met Kateri.
Kat was, in Ginny's mind, supremely cool. First of all, she was a math teacher. It was unusual for her gender to admit to a love of math, and to teach the subject to whiny students -- even meta-human teens were still teens, sullen attitudes and all -- elevated her even higher in the college girl's esteem. Second, she was willing to toss water balloons from the top of the school onto her students and fellow teachers. If that didn't make someone awesome then Ginny didn't know what did.
They'd first got to talking over Ginny's math homework and then one thing lead to another and...here they were, preparing to attack people with water balloons on a Saturday afternoon.
"Here comes someone..." Ginny whispered, peering over the window ledge at the person waltzing directly beneath them.
