Clarity left the door open. That would be all any person needed to know, to find how this situation began.

She was staring at the area of the room, 403 in the girl's dorm, and trying to figure out what she was supposed to do for her items. Did she get her own designated area, or did everyone in dorms just let things go in the places they fit best? And what if, when the girls who lived there came back after classes--her first day was not until Monday, as she just barely made it to the school by 10--they decided they hated the person taking up more space in their room? She began to worry far more than she thought she would have.

And what if, Clarity thought, I totally fail at this school thing, and I can't master this power thing that I've got? And what did she have, any way? What was she now... A mutant? The lady told her to call it Meta-human, even if she was one. It was supposed to be more... politically correct? The only time Clarity used to worry about anything like that was on internet forums. Who even cared about that?

She was staring so intently into the room that she did not even notice the person approaching until, heaving a sigh, she turned around to close the door. Her heart just about jumped out of her chest, as she hadn't noticed that it was after school time. She had been just standing there for--she quickly checked her phone screen--thirty minutes already. Wow.
