The fitting [Sidra]

Hanging up the phone Avery smiled. Sidra had just called and it was time for the final fitting. It had been awhile but she was just so excited to get her own corset. After everything that had happened between the day she met Sidra and now, Avery almost forgot about it. However Avery had a surprise for Sidra. She liked Sidra's designs so much she got extra money from her uncle. Avery had told Liam all about Sidra and how happy she was that she made her a corset. At first her Uncle was made but she explained that girls wore them now and wore tank tops and stuff under them. After that he left her alone and gave her extra money to give to Sidra. That was one of the things she loved about her uncle. He seemed to understand quickly and help out fast.

Grabbing her purse and fixing her tank top she headed out towards Sidra's dorm. Thankfully it wasn't very far. Avery liked not having to travel very far when she was really excited about something. Over joyed and excited she knocked on the door. Unfortunatley Avery was acting like the typical stereotype today. But only because she was overly excited. Hopefully once she started talking to Sidra she would calm down.

The typical unce, unce, unce of techno goth was muted by the walls and door, but the sound was a sure sign that the resident elitist goth was in. Somehow, some way she heard the knock and pulled the door open allowing the sound of music and smooth male vocalist spill into the hall. The usual pale face with it's cosmetic accents stared out at the blonde.

"Come in." Two words, but they weren't as clipped or cold as her first words have been to Avery so many weeks ago. Shifting to the side, Si allowed the girl entry and closed the door behind her. The room Sidra claimed as her own was, in it's own way, a goth's dream. Living Dead Dolls lined shelves, spine candle holders were staggered around, black and burgundy bedding--everything Sidra approved of. In the section she dedicated to her sewing needs was the usual paraphernalia and an adjustable sewing form with the pastel corset.

"We can fit this on over the shirt you have on, since you were concerned about straps." Personally, Sidra didn't care one way or another, a corset was a corset, but there were some people who didn't believe in wearing a shirt underneath. Either way she made money. Unzipping the front of the corset, Si removed it from the form and loosened the bilateral lacing in back. Holding it up and out she instructed, "Go ahead and zip up the front, I'll lace you in."

So far she was being pleasant.

Avery smiled. Going into the dorm she heard the blare of music. She really wasn't too familiar with techno but Avery liked it. She bounced along following Sidra. Once she got in to her room Avery grinned. "I like the music and your room. Its pretty cool." Nodding as she zipped up the corset. Avery had no Idea what to make of Sidra yet. She would like to consider her a friend but it didn't seem that way to her yet. "Thank you for being so nice and making the corset for. I know I'm paying you but still thank you." Avery nodded mostly to herself in acceptance of what she said.

Without being laced, the corset hung around Avery's mid section loosely. Unsure of how to take the appreciation of her kindness from Avery, Sidra simply bobbed her head, and toyed with the bridge of her fangs while considering the implications and down fall of the descriptor "nice" getting around school.

"Turn around, your back to me. Stagger your feet. I'm going to tighten the laces."

When Avery obliged, Sidra gathered the two loops at the waist of the corset's lacing and pulled. Keeping in mind that this was the blonde's first time wearing a corset, Si managed (barely) to keep from jerking the lacing into it's tightest setting on the girl. By the time she was done adjusting the laces so the corset hugged Avery's form without being limiting. Twisting the length of lacing into a bow and tucking the ends into either side of the corset, the goth corseteir stepped back. The lines of the corset were exacting, the laced back two inches apart, so there was still room to lace tighter if Avery ever decided she wanted that.

As much as Sidra disliked pastels, she had to admit the color worked for the poptart, and it'd be good advertising around school. With Avery and Stella both wearing corsets, note to self: finish the green underbust for Stella, then the customer base would be delightfully expanded.

"You look great," As simple as those words were for most people, Sidra rarely had to say them aloud to anyone other than her sister and brother. She was out of practice. "Have a look," Si pointed to the full length mirror hanging on the front of the closet door.

Avery smiled as she went to the mirror. Looking at herself she tilted her head. "Wow this makes me look so amazing. I really like it Sidra." Avery was amazed at how well Sidra had made the corset. It was perfect. Running her hands up and down the sides of the corset she smiled. "It makes me look skinny too." Nodding to herself mostly. "Sidra you are very amazing. You should really start your own business. I bet you would have many people coming into your shop to get a corset. Maybe even rich customers would pay extra to have custom made ones. Like this awesome one you made me." Avery turned around and smiled again. "So how much do I owe you?"

There was always that moment of absolute pride when the person fitted into a corset pet themselves. It was pretty standard, but the pride never stopped popping up whenever Sidra watched it happen. It was total justification for what she did. Well added justification. The true justification (beyond a means of making money) was gothing everyone up a little bit at a time. First it would be a pastel corset, then, little by little, Avery would see the how much better life was when you weren’t trying so hard to make everyone happy.

The pop-tart was already one step closer to not being a sheep. There was that teeny bit of hope for her yet.

“I have a store. On Etsy. I take pictures of samples, and people send me their measurements and money for a custom made corset.” She couldn’t have a physical store. Not yet. Stupid labor laws and the like. What she could do was make stuff on the side and sell it online. There weren’t rules against her selling online (that she’d read, but then admittedly she hadn’t exactly read the TOS). Either way she was making money and no one had said anything to her about it yet.

“They sell pretty alright. I keep myself in supplies and music at least.” Crossing her arms over her own corseted chest, Si studied Avery. “You can get away with a lot in that corset. Jeans, a skirt. Add some leggings, high heels, flat boots, up-do hair, down and curly or straight. Corsets are super versatile. Though the pastel there won’t work in the winter really. It’s more a spring maybe summer look.” Maybe she got that right, who the hell knew.

Avery smiled as she looked up and down at herself. She wondered how attractive she would look to guys in her new get up. "I Like it with these jeans. I can picture it with some acid wash jeans wavy hair and some sparkly hair things."

Avery sighed remembering who she was talking to. It was cool to have a friend like SIdra, well Avery guessed she could call her her friend. "I know sprakly bright things isn't you thing. So I very much appreciate you making a brighter corset for me."

Reaching in her pocket Avery sighed. She was happy to spend money on pretty things and she was glad her uncle didn't mind. He seemed to always let her do things she wanted. That made her happy. "So how much I owe you again?" Looking and counting the wad of cash in her hand.

Avery already knew she was going to give Sidra more then the asking price. She figured it would help her with her product line and maybe she could get a store up and running when she was able.

"Just because it's not my thing doesn't mean it doesn't work for you." And though she'd never admit it out loud, Avery had done Sidra a favor. A huge favor. She'd opened up the door to a whole new world of people who might wear corsets if they were colorful. While it was far from the goth's personal style the way Avery described wearing the corset made sense in a pop-tart kind of way. Well, the sparkly things anyhow. It wasn't as though Sidra hadn't worn her own work with jeans and boots, and the like before herself. Her idea of jeans weren't acid wash, though. Just torn up and patched with darkness.

"We'd agreed on $160 for the corset," which was about $40 lower than what she normally asked, and at the time it was because Sidra had said she knew Avery. Which had been more or less a way of saying buy my stuff and I'll be nice to you. Through the course of working on the Corset and chatting with Avery about how she wanted the lines to fall, Sidra had grudgingly grown to like the blonde. This, however, was also something she'd never admit out loud. Her reputation hung in the balance. Though with the friggin huge wad of cash the pop-tart held, Sidra couldn't help but feel the envy.

What was it like? To just have it laying around. Hell, she didn't know if Avery had earned it or what, just that she was holding it now. "You probably shouldn't just have all that on you. People might find out and who the hell knows what would happen after that."
