Rati found it pleasant to know that the dorm she was assigned was a co-ed dorm, just as she had requested. It did not excite her very much though, for it seemed like a sure outcome. She was old enough to make it a non-issue, and her parents trusted her enough to avoid trouble. Although if she were to adopt their definition of trouble in the given context, their faith had been misplaced.
Her reasons for coveting a co-ed dorm had nothing to do with potential sex partners, however. She always felt that it was most proper to have a balance of masculine and feminine energies. As she slid the key into the keyhole, Rati began to worry about the type of people her roommates would be. She was willing to turn a blind eye to usual teenagers, but Parvati help her if she had to live with drunken louts.
She took a deep breath and turn the key, pausing for a second to hear the acknowledging click. The dorm will be her new home for some time and it seem proper to be slightly ritualistic about her inauguratory entrance. Satisfied, she pushed open the door and slid in, two large articles of luggage in hand. She was well aware of the lack of elegance, but function was the priority for the moment.
