Don't turn me away [Zaeric]

Anette stood outside his door. This was it; she was really going to do it. Her heart was beating faster, thumping against the hard cage of her ribs. You’d think he’d be able to hear that. But she knew he couldn’t, she could feel that her “gift” was running wild and when she was anxious and excited, the weather tended to be windy and sunny at the same time. She raised a hand to the door and put it back down to her side.

What if he didn’t want to see her? Her mind was playing tricks on her. Of course he would want to see her, they spent hours on the computer talking and he always seemed sad to let her go. Sighting, she turned to face the wall, taking a couple steps from the door. Her stomach was knotted up and her brain kept telling her to get it over with.

She had extracted Teddy from her suitcase, hoping his furry presence would make her feel better. It did very little, but she still had him in her arms. She knocked on the door and anxiously waited for the door to open. The wind outside was howling, she didn’t need a window to see it. She could feel in within her soul.

Zaer was doing homework. Actually, when he wasn't talking to his little sister it always seemed as if he was doing homeowork. He got up for a moment to check the computer. It was after school, for both him and Anette. He was checking to see if she was online. Nope. She hadn't been online for hours, which was really really odd to him. Usually she zipped right to her computer to talk to him on his shiny laptop, but no, nothing today. It kind of made him really worried. He had called his mom, but she had said everything was just fine! So why did he feel so....worried? Maybe it was the fact he never really went very long without talking to his sister.

He went and sat back down to finish his homework, when he heard a knock on the door. Well, the others weren't here, so that left him to answer the door. It was probably someone coming to bug the girls. Well, he would set them straight now wouldn't he. He put on a jacket and shoes and walked over to the door, opening it just a crack. Once he saw who was standing there though, he flung the door wide open.

"Anette!" His voice was full of excitement and love. Zaeric scooped his little sister up in an great big hug, almost in tears. " I've missed you. I was wondering why you didn't answer on facebook. Now I know why!" His excitement was showing all over, like he was going to explode into a million pieces of excitement.

“Zae Zae!!” she yelled returning his hug and grinning at him. Her brother had grown taller and he was still cold, but she didn’t mind. It was him and that’s all that mattered. “I got a ‘gift’!” she said trying to sound proud of her self; but in reality, she didn’t know if the ‘gift’ was something she wanted. Anette shook her head and continued to smile at her brother.

“Dad doesn’t know I’m here,” she said playing with a loose thread on her skirt. “In fact, he thinks I’m in England at an expensive boarding school.” Tears started to form in her eyes, she wasn’t really one to cry, but to think of her mother alone with that bastard was a bit much for her.

“I...I left her all alone Zaeric!”

He patted her shoulder and smiled. He knew the feeling. Zaer wouldn't want their mother to be there alone with that evil man. He looked into her bright blue eyes and immediately felt better. His sister was here! Here at the institute of all places! Zaer was so excited he could hardly contain himself.

" Annette, its okay. She'll be just fine. I got a letter a few days before you got here saying that he's probably not going to talk to her anymore. They're not together so it's okay." He wanted her to be comfortable and not worry about thier mother. She would be okay.

" So what's your gift dearie?" He asked her. He couldn't imagine. He had ice and kind water if he worked at it. Thier mother didn't have a power really, but there were tons of people on his mothers side who had a power.

Anette sniffled and grinned at her brother. “Well, that’s good I suppose,” she said in a small voice. She didn’t want her mother interacting with him either and it helped that they were splitting up. It was amazing how such a sweet guy like Zae would come out of such an evil man. Maybe most of his genetics weren’t passed on towards him and Anette.

“I can control weather,” she said brightly. “Well, not really. It fluxuates with my moods, so it can be pretty dangerous at times.”

“Zae,” she said looking at him, “are we adopted?” She looked exactly like her brother, but she couldn’t help but think that the evil man couldn’t be her father, he just couldn’t.
