Five a.m. swimm. (open)

Theres something exhilarating about the cold mist of the morning. It was just cold enough, just early enough, 5 A.M., for one of her favorite things. She stood under a tree, stripping off her T-shirt, and her jeans, to reveal a dark purple two piece swim suit. Yes it was that time of year again, the time where on nice saturday mornings Bell would go out and feel the cold air on her skin. She lifted her head up and took a deep breath of the air, feeling it sting on her skin, letting it fill her lungs, smiling at the sensation.

She turned to the pond and made a running jump into it. She felt the sudden shock to her system as the cold water hit her skin like a wall of ice. It felt amazing. Her arms cut threw the water, leading her to the surface. As her head broke the surface she took a quick breath then dived back down. She opened her eyes under the water, and while it stung a little she kept them open, exploring the world that was different from the one she was forced to live in. It was so beautiful and calm. The fish all staying a distance from her. She spent a long time down there before her lungs instead that she go back up for air.

Logan walked slowly down the path leading to the lake. In front of him was what appeared to be a remote controlled toy truck. He had made a few little modifications to it though but right now all it was doing was rolling along in front of him with no remote in sight.

Watching it roll along, he tried making it speed up and slow down, turning suddenly, and doing all sorts of little tricks. It was too early to test his modifications but Logan had been working this one late last night and he hadn't slept yet. He might be able to control it a little but the hardware had to be good enough and there were limitations on what he could piece together himself.

Getting to the lake, the truck moved along nicely, doing a couple of little flips as he carefully kept it away from the water. Hearing the splash had caught him off guard and he looked up forgetting his truck for a moment as it fell over. A girl emerged from the water but Logan's eyes widened at the truck as it came close to falling into the water. Leaning down he grabbed it quickly.

"That was way too close," he said out loud as he picked it up and cradled it like a baby as he checked to make sure water hadn't gotten in it. The thing wasn't water proof and although Logan could move it around, drowning it would certainly be too much for even him to fix.

Bell looked at the boy who’s toy had almost gone into the lake. “Arn’t you a little old to be playing with toys?” She asked. She floated on the surface of the water. She loved swimming in here on days like this, but what she didn’t love is how people stared. She knew most people wouldn’t be able to stand the cold, but her power was ice, cold never seemed to bother her. She wondered what if felt like to be so cold you shook, she hardly ever even got goose bumps. She figured she was lucky, and that it must really suck to actually be effected by the cold.

Bell didn’t stop looking at the boy, she wondered what he was doing up so early, most people were still asleep, and even if they weren’t asleep they hardly ever came out here. She was normally alone, she had only ever been interrupted two or three times, and most people just kept walking staring at the odd girl in the pond. She wished this boy would do the same so she could go back to swimming, the world under the water was so beautiful, so different then it’s counter part above.

"It's not a toy," Logan said, feeling the need to get a little defensive over his little creation. "He has a memristor-based fuzzy neural network and genetic algorithm-based problem solving," Logan explained like it all made perfect sense. "Cobalt's practically alive and he's about as smart as a ten year old," he told her, still holding onto the blue truck protectively. "He's got a quantum electromagnetic vortex hard drive, do you have any idea how much stuff this little guy knows?" he asked, kneeling down as he put the truck back on the ground. He was just trying to prove its worth cause he didn't want the girl thinking he played with toys.. Cobalt was definitely not a toy.

"Why don't you tell her about some of your features, Cobalt?" he says to the truck whose headlights flash as it rolled forward an inch before it starts to speak, "Hello my name is Cobalt, I am equipped with voice recognition, autonomous pathfinder, gps-based mapping, vocal pattern matching as well as a heuristic-based multi-lingual translator," the truck said in a clear but slightly robotic voice before beeping at her to indicate the end of its little speech. Logan just looked at it with pride. He loved his creations.

"My sensors indicate that the water temperature is 39 degrees Fahrenheit. The average human can survive at this temperatures for a maximum for 20 minutes. I would suggest immediate evacuation," the blue truck informed her, beeping again.

Logan looked back at the girl then the truck. "I don't think she's exactly average," Logan said. "Please specify," the truck said. "No, go away," he told it. "Please specify," it asked again in the same robotic tone. "I'm really sorry about this," Logan told the girl.

"The subject shows no signs of adverse reactions. I require more data," the truck spoke, causing Logan to look at it funny. He didn't remember giving it that kind curiosity but then with artificial intelligence he wasn't all that surprised. "Several experimental methods may help evaluate the properties of the subject." he said, beeping at the girl. "Your assistance required for the betterment of science, please cooperated," it said before driving toward the water only to be stopped and picked up by Logan. "Whoa there Hannibal," Logan grabbing the truck as its wheels continued to spin for a moment. "I might have to go back to the drawing board with this one," he said as he flicked the switch to turn it off. "Sorry bout that," he told her with a sheepish grin.

Bell raised here eyebrows at the boy. “So you spend your time making homicidal toy cars that talk and want to cut meta humans open....interesting.” she said with a smirk. While that crazy thing had been going on about doing experiments on her she had conjured a hand of Ice. Now that it wasn’t going to attempt to kill her she conjured up a thick sheet of ice to sit upon the top of the lake. As she sat she looked the boy up and down, “So what is the point of that thing any way? I mean it can learn right? Don’t you watch any movies? When they learn to think they learn to question why they should be the servants, and next thing you know they’re trying kill us.” She said. “When the robot overlords come to kill us all I’m blaming you.” She ran a hand threw her red hair and played with her stripe of purple hair. “Oh and by the way, who are you?” She had just released that she had no clue who this guy was. She had seen him around but she had never talked to him. Though she was pretty sure in was in some club...or.....something.

"That was a glitch in his programming," Logan said as though this might absolve him of any guilt. Artificial Intelligence was fun to work with but if you added too much else to it, it tended to get hard to predict. "And he wants gonna cut you up.. He's completely child safe.. Unlike Ninja 2.0," he said, probably shouldn't have mentioned his blender on steroids. That think was cool but it didn't exactly work out right. Either way, Cobalt didn't exactly have weapons, he was more of a talker and the most impressive thing he could do physically was flip over. "Sides, he would have fried his circuits soon as he hit the water," he said with a shrug and a smile.

He watched the girl with her ice. It was kinda cool but then Logan was used to seeing all kinds of crazy stuff around this place. It was pretty normal now and seeing someone create ice like that wasn't exactly crazy and new.

"Don't worry, it's nothing like skynet," he told her with a grin. He did watch those movies. Logan loved his sci fi and his comic books and Hammel was sort of like living in a comic book but with more homework and less bad guys and superheroes.

"It's cool, if that happens, I'll just shut them down," he said with a shrug. As long as those evil robots were all circuits and connections, he wasn't gonna be afraid of them. He smiled when she asked who he was. "Name's Logan or LJ if you prefer, though I don't think that's gonna catch on, my brother's the only one who ever calls me that," he explained. Logan was usually good at the whole meeting people thing. He tended to drone on about weird technologies or just plain talk too much but it didn't matter. The girl seemed nice enough anyway. "And you are?" he asked.

"Ninja 2.0?" Bell said. What the heck was with this kid. "You made a robot Ninja? Wow your determined to start the robot apocalypse arnt you?" She asked.
“Any way I’m Annabella, but you can call me Bell. Nice to meet the man who will one day probably create our mechanical over lords.” She said as she got up and stood on her ice. She created an ice path to shore and walked across. “So your a technopathy i’m guessing? Able to work with technology and all that.” She asked as she stepped onto the ground again. She preferred to be in the water.

"Yyeah," Logan said, eyes narrowing to a spot in the distance as he thought of the perfect way to explain. "He's kinda like a... blender on steroids," he told her. The thing wasn't mobile at least so that was a plus.

"I like robots," Logan said, sounding like a little kid trying to defend his choice is crayon color. It was said almost as though this was proof that there was no impending apocalypse. He liked working with them and putting things together, that was his thing. It was what he did best and sure accidents happened, they did with most people and their powers but Logan didn't mean any harm by it at least.

"Yeah, nice to meet you too," he told her. He didn't really like the sound of it though. He really wasn't planning world domination... Even if he had the means to try and do it. Hell, all it would take was a good internet connection and wiping out all the information he could find. That would send the world straight into chaos and taking it over would be easy.. Not that he was ever going to do that, but the point was, he wouldn't even need his little robot friends.

He watched as she came back to shore and asked her question. "Yep, that's me," he said simply. It all sort of varied and he knew there was one other technopath at the school but he didn't really know anything about her or what she could do.
