After thoughts [Jethro]

The weather was still nice and Avery was still wearing her skirt. Flowing by her knee in all pink once again. It was so nice that she even left her hoodie in her dorm room. Her heels clogging in the dirt and she knew that she was going to have to clean them when she got back. After all dirt did not look good on anything but the ground and a mud fight which she rarely participated in. The more she shopped the more she thought of herself as a sophisticated person with great taste in clothes. Closer she got to the pond the better the air smelled.

Avery always loved the smell of the clean crisp air. Fresh spring air in particular. She walked over to the light grey colored rock that she always did. This was where she liked to be to think, to wonder what it would be like to be normal. Today however was a different thought. How people would react if she wasn't herself. What it would be like to be back to her old self, poor, and shy. How She would react to things differently. Carefully she climbed on the medium rock and sat down staring out at the pond. Wrapping her arms around her she was cold, not as cold as she thought though. The thought was if it was warm outside why not by the water? Guess she forgot water was colder but that was ok for her.

Jethro showed up on the edge of the pond a few minutes later, wearing a thick, burgundy sweater and a pair of jeans. Under one arm was a brightly colored, antique 'pop-pop' boat. He filled the little reservoir with pond water and lit the candle with a lighter. He set the boat on the pond's surface. The rudimentary steam engine he had just switched on made a popping sound in the water as it powered its way out into the middle of the pond.

Jethro knelt by the edge of the pond of a moment, watching the cunning little device chug away towards the opposite shore of the pond. He took a slow breath and began to exert his power. He had a hard time manipulating objects at a distance, this was supposed to be a training exercise. He had, after all, never been one to accept having an inability to do something. All it really took was patience and ingenuity to figure out a way to improve.

The little boat nearly made it to the other side before an unseen force began to tug it to the left. It turned slowly in response to Jethro's mental command. It adjusted its course to circuit the edge of the pond. As it got closer, the strain Jethro felt lessened and then worsened as it gained distance away from him.

As she stared out at the pond she noticed a little boat. Smiling she concentrated really hard to make the wind pick up. Even though she knew this would make her have a headache she wanted to watch the boat sail through the little waves and as it kept going, she decided to follow the little boat. Placing her palms down she pushed herself off the rock. Now that the wind picked up no thanks to her, she was even colder. Arms wrapped tighter around her as she kept the wind blowing and following the little boat. A smile played on her lips as the boat was going around the man made pond. Unfortunately, Avery was to into the little boat to notice anything else.

The more she followed the boat the more her attention was on it. She didn't notice the boy that was standing there and on top of that she didn't notice the rock. Her smile grew on her lips and at the moment when she had that big bubbly smile, her foot got caught and she tripped over the rock and into the boy. Her smiled quickly turned into a gasp and then into a frown. "I..I am so so sorry. I was following that little boat. I am so sorry!"

"Oof," Jethro said as a person sized object fell against him. He stumbled back a little and then hoisted her back onto her feet for her. Now that he was distracted, his little boat plowed into the shore, still popping away. "Easy, gal," he said, chuckling to himself and straightening out his sweater. If he had known downing his homework like this would have had girls throwing themselves at him he would have done so sooner.

He looked over at the girl that had run into him so suddenly run into him and gave her his best winning smile. "No harm, no foul," he said easily and stooped to pick up his boat. He blew out the candle and emptied the reservoir. He did not really feel like practicing ranged control today anyway. This incident gave him an excuse to call it a day and go goof off for the rest of the afternoon.

Concentrating Avery made the wind go back to its norm. However this answered the question about the boat and as he took it out of the water she smiled. "Oh so it was your boat that I was following and playing with." A slight giggled left her lips as she finished straightening herself up. Fixing her hair back to where it was draped of her shoulders and not all over the place. Looking down her legs where a little dirty and her shoes where probably ruined but other than that she seemed to be ok, just a little disoriented. Brushing herself off now she sighed once more and turned to face the boy. A blush appeared on her face as she looked at him. That was the second time she bumped into a gorgeous man here at Hammel and it seemed strange to her.

Avery extended her arm with a smile reappearing on her face, making the blush slowly disappear. "I'm Avery Sainsbury. I am so sorry I bumped into you. I was just creating waves for the little boat. Watching it go through the waves. I decided to follow it to see who was controlling it." Avery got too cold again and wrapped her arms around herself shivering. Again she wished that she had brought herself at least a hoodie to keep warm. Honestly, she wanted to kick herself for thinking the temperature was the same here as at Hammel. Avery knew she was smarter then that.
