Eyes that kill [Sam Mercer]

[Elva Ire]

Elva stepped into the elevator and pressed the top button. She wanted to be on the roof for some reason. She had worn a short black skirt with two chains on both sides and a black halter top. The mall had at least four floors, or so she thought. She never really paid attention. She had come without Shane because she wanted to think. It seemed that her parents absolutely adored him, she was glad for that.

She was still nervous about meeting his parents and sighed at the thought of it. She gave a small laugh and leaned against the cold metal wall. Her green eyes watched herself in the reflection of the silver door. She didn’t want anyone to join her in here. Her heart dropped when she saw the doors open on the second floor.

Sam was out for the day and stopped by the mall for some food and to watch the people. He was wearing a black tee his leather jacket blue jeans and a pair of boots. His hair was messy from the motorcycle ride over. He was walking around the second floor when he decided to take a trip to the roof. Maybe he could choose where to go next. The doors opened and Sam stepped in to find Elva standing there. Before he could back peddle the doors closed. Sam looks at her and sighs.

"Hey Elva"

After he had said those words, her entire world crashed. How could she get stuck in the elevator with him? At least it was only until he got off. An alarm blared, and there was a jam. The elevator shifted, seemingly stuck in the middle of the third and second floor. She almost screamed in frustration. Elva didn’t want to be stuck in the elevator while they tried to fix it. It may take hours and that’s exactly what she needed. More stress on her plate.

She sat down in the corner of the room, her head pounding and her eyes locked on her ex boyfriend’s. “Hello Sam.” She knew she had said she wanted to be friends and she did, but she didn’t want to be stuck in a metal box where he could explode it or her or hit her again.

Sam sat down in the corner opposite Elva and pulled his right knee up to his chest. Sam left his left leg out strait and rested his forehead on his right knee. This was the last place he wanted to be. He was having a great day and now he was stuck in a broken elevator with his ex. Sam softly sighed.

"So I hear you got a new guy. How is that going?"

Sam was just trying to be polite and cut the tension. He wanted to keep it's as nice as possible, no more yelling, screaming, or hurting. He slightly shivered as he remembered seeing her in his hands choking but there being nothing he could do to stop. The worst part was at the time he enjoyed it. That sickens him the most. Sam thinks to him self. That will never happen again.

Elva glared at him, her hand slipped into her bag. “It’s going…good,” she said just as quietly and looked away. Again, she stared at herself in the mirror of the silver door, her face contorted and his as well. She didn’t want to be stuck in this place with him. It was too small, there was nowhere to run. She rubbed her forehead in frustration. Why?!

“What about you? How’ve you been?”

Stupid question. She broke his heart not too long ago and she was asking him how he was? Elva drew in a huge breath and let it out slowly, trying to calm her poor heart down and her over active imagination. She couldn’t be stuck in here. She pulled out her phone, no service. Just as well….

Sam noticed her unease and stress. He felt it was best to lighten the mood so he smiled and tried to be pleasant and nice.

"Well it's been kinda boring around lately. I have mostly been riding around on my bike a lot."

In truth he was hurt bad but he would never show it. He didn't want to hurt her any deeper. He wanted so much to just make her happy but the only way he could see to do that was to get away from her. He looked around but there was no way to escape short of blowing a hole in the door, but he couldn't do that in a public place. He tried not to show any worry and kept and happy face and body posture. If anything he could try to fool her into a good mood.

Elva’s green eyes stared at him, she could feel the blast in the back of her mind building up, but she pushed it back down. She was angry, well more likely, she was furious. The Gods were trying to play a trick on her. This was probably the doing of the God Loki. Just to play with her. She grit her teeth and looked away, at the silver surface of the doors, wishing they’d open and let her out. Her eyes kept sliding over to him.

“Why do you bother to hide it?” she asked, glaring at him full on. Elva could see through his little charade. “Why don’t you just let me know how you really are doing?!”

She had nearly screamed that last part, her hands were clenched in fists. Violence was raging under her fingertips, she wanted to hit someone. She wanted to hit him. That stupid idoit. Thinking he could fool her. “You’re a fool. A damned fool Sam Mercer.”

Elva didn’t know where the anger came from. She didn’t want to know, she flew her hand into the silver wall, and then nursed her hurting hand, the product of her anger.

Sam just shook his head his hair falling into a mess around his face. He lightly chuckled and looked up at her through his hair.

"That make you feel better there dove?"

He brushed the hair out of his face and smiled at her. A smile that was nice but hidden behind the smile was a bit of hate.

"Why would you think I would be lying? Is my life supposed to stop, am I supposed to curl up in my room and cry my eyes out just because you broke my heart?"

Sam stood up and steped closer to her. They were only about a foot apart, Sam's body towered over hers.

" Sorry babe but your not so importaint I would stop living because you left."

Sam turned around and walked back over to his corner. His back still to her he tries looking at the control panel for instructions to fix the broken piece of shit.

“You know exactly what I meant Mercer,” Elva snarled at him, watching his back. “You lie and lie, what’s the point when I already know the answer?” She didn’t want to be stuck in there anymore than he did, but she was gonna go insane if they were stuck together any longer.

“And don’t call me Dove, it’s Elva to you and only Elva.” She ran a hand through her hair, watching some strands falling onto the floor of the elevator. “Is this effing thing going to be fixed or not?”

She was tensed, not to mention that he wasn’t helping the matter. She didn’t want another episode. Her back slid as she sat against the cold metal, not wanting to stand and get up. “You know…” her voice trailed off.

Sam just let her rant bounce off of his back as he focused on the panel. If she already knew how he felt why did she even ask? Thats all that was going through his mind during her rant. He popped the front of the panel off and started looking at wires trying to find a way out of the hell hole. He looked up trying to find a reason God would lock him in here with this girl. Then he heard her last two words and how her voice changed.

" I know what?"

“It’s none of your business.” She knew that she had found someone within a couple of days that they had started dating. She wasn’t want to bring light to it, much less, get hit for it. Her green eyes found his when he had turned around, the panel standing open behind him, colorful wires sticking out like odd tiny arms to a robot. She shook her head, “You know, you already know. Why say it out loud?” she asked.

She moved hair in front of her face, looking for safety within the red walls of her hair. She didn’t want to think about him and Shane getting into a fight, she just couldn’t bare it if he did.
You know, but why did I do it? she signed absentmindedly.

Sam just shook his head and went back to working on the panel his head flowed with ideas trying to figure out what she was talking about. His mind quickly sorted through all the possibilities till it settled on the best solution.

"If your talking about that guy of yours I don't care. Like I said I'm not going to cry or be hurt for you any more. You are not as important as you think babe."

Sam smirked as he keeps his back to her. If she was going to try and make a big deal out of how she hurt him he was going to show her how small she really was.
