Taking Off - Sett Tags Nubi/Sahky

It took Sett about ten to fifteen minutes for him to throw shirts and jeans and a collection of his boxers into his small carry on luggage bag and stuffing some socks and more jeans into his haversack to buffer the only really expensive thing in his room, which was his still pristine two-year old Macbook.

He looked around his supremely messy room that he couldn't be bothered to clean up to see if he was missing anything but he figured he could just buy everything else when he got there. All he could think of was Sett's tear-stained cheek after the call. He was bothered that his usually tough sister had turned into a big ball of cry.

Shaking his head, Sett convinced himself that he had everything he needed in the haversack and everything else will be sent over via cargo, including Huggles, Sahky's cats and Anubis' pet squirrel. And speaking of Nubi...

"Anni! You better not 'ave...what the f-" Sett's grip on his carry-on luggage loosened but not enough to drop it when he saw the state of his third youngest sibling as he went up the steps to the boy's room.

Anubis has a lot of stuff.

Though his room was, for the most part, organized - his collection of staplers arranged in color order, his vests hung neatly in his closet, ties slung over the spinning rack on his dresser - there was one corner of his room devoted solely to his un-categorize-able array of stolen goods. It was an approximately waist-high pile of random, useless junk, but it was important junk in the eyes of one Anubis Richmond.

That was why, upon the decision that they would be traveling to America for an extended stay, that Anubis had stolen Isis' luggage set and began to pack his hoarded goods. He couldn't just leave them there unattended, now could he?

It had taken three bags alone to accommodate his clothes and the seven remaining ones were filled with countless pieces of random junk. He still wasn't finished when Sett burst into his room, buried elbow deep in his pile as he looked for something. "Yeah? I'm not done yet!" He blinked, then suddenly looked shocked.

"We're not late are we?" Instead of waiting for a response, he scooped up armfuls of stuff and began shoving them into the open suitcase. "I'm sorry, I'll go faster!"

When his younger brother started to hasten his packing, Sett's eyes widened before removing his haversack off his shoulder and leaning it against the wall outside of Anubis' room, rolling his sleeves up. "Anni, Anni I'm pretty sure you don' need to bring over these hair bands." Sett rummaged through his brother's bag, face palming every time he saw something that should just not be on the boy's person.

"Positively sure you don' need the hardcover an' the paperback version of Gulliver's Travels, Nubi." He held back his laughter at the sight of all the useless junk his younger brother had been "collecting" over the years. The bags he already had zipped up and bulging made Sett shake his head in amusement. "Nubi, I know this stay is indefinite an' all but no."

Sett ruffled Anubis' hair with a grin before dragging one of the bag near to him, unzipping it carefully, holding a hand out so nothing sprang out on him unexpectedly. But stuff did tumble out, stuff that Sett knew Anubis didn't actually need. "You wan' me to do an inventory for your things, don' you..." Sett threatened emptily, knowing Anubis would fall for it anyway.

He didn't expect anyone to understand his need for this stuff, considering what an awkward assortment it was. Useless as the items may have been, they were still special to Anubis, and he felt that he needed to bring them with him. Thankfully Sett was there to try and talk some sense into him.

"I might need them!" He took one of the hair ties and swept his messy hair up into an odd Pebbles-like ponytail on the top of his head.

Anubis always got a little weird around his trinkets.

"See?" He declared, making a face when Sett touched the books. He snagged them away from his brother and held them to his chest. "But... the covers are pretty!" His focus was mostly on the books, but he snapped upright when Sett unzipped one of the packed bags and things started to fall out. He dropped the books in favor of diving across Sett's lap, as if that would somehow stop him from undoing all of his hard work.

"But I need it! If we're gone it'll just sit here all alone and no one will admire all of it and I'll have to start a new pile in the new house and... Ooohhhh!" It was like a lightbulb had just turned on over his head. Starting a whole new pile of amusing and shiny gadgets and gizmos and everything else in between would quite an enjoyable venture. "Fine, but I still need all those!" He pointed to the three bags that contained his clothes.

And Sett didn't understand Anubis' need to steal these things. To the older Richmond boy practically everything in Anubis' room is junk. But he did respect the boy of his hobby. At least the boy kept it up. No matter how insanely asinine it was.

When the younger boy tried to justify his need for his collection of baubles by tying his hair up in a tiny pineapple top-like style, Sett chuckled. "You look more like a porcupine like tha'." Sett ruffled what little hair was left out of the ponytail. He let the younger boy snatch the books from his hand as he continued to rummage through Anubis' bags only to have his baby brother sprawl over his lap to stop him from doing anything.

Anubis' train of thought and the sudden light bulb effect the younger Richmond boy always got when a dubious plan started it's inception in his head scared Sett all the time. This was no exception. Sett was about to voice his opinion when Anubis called out the importance of the other three bags to which Sett blew a puff of breath that sent his choppy fringe out of his eyes. "Two of those are being sent by cargo. Along with our animals, deal?" Sett asked as he helped Anubis clean up, feeling guilty he had made the mess.

They couldn't let their parents come home to see their empty rooms messy. They didn't actually have a house keeper or anything. Whatever mess they made, they had to clean up themselves. It was an insane habit the whole family shared. Amusing, seeing that Sett was a little lazy.

Sahkmet was sitting in the drawing room, her luggage pushed against the wall. She'd had difficulty convincing herself not to pack everything in her wardrobe and an even more difficult time leaving behind her pantry, but customs was run by a suspicious lot. It would be easier to restock once they were settled in Vermont. Maahes was curled up on her lap, shedding on her nice polka dotted dress. Menhit was draped across her red high heel clad feet, purring loudly. She wished the two felines could accompany her on the plane; at least they would eventually join the Richmond's, along with the rest of the family's menagerie.

After fifteen minutes spent gently stroking Maahes and staring at the clock on the opposite wall she began to tire of waiting. "What's taking them so long?" She asked the two cats. "Better go check on them, make sure they aren't killing one another."

Menhit offered a "Prrrrow" which she took to be agreement, and so she scooped the felines off her person before pushing herself off the sofa and wandering up the stairs.

A loud commotion outside Anubis' room caught her attention, so she peeked her head around the door. Anubis' room was a disaster area; she had no idea how he could find anything. "What's going on in here?" She laughed, surveying the mess in resignation, "Are you trying to take the whole house, Nubs?" She asked, catching sight of his suitcases.

For a moment, Anubis look horrified that his beloved clothing would be stored in the cargo hold of the plane. They were works of art! They deserved more glorious treatment than that! But as outrageous as he was sometimes, Anu knew this wasn't an argument he could win. Instead, he heaved a huge sigh and collapsed over-dramatically in Sett's lap. "Fiiiiiiine. They can go in the stupid cargo."

Rolling off of Sett's knees, Anni picked up one of the bags with difficult (he had such scrawny arms) and dumped its contents on top of the remaining pile. It probably wasn't a dictionary-perfect definition of clean, but in Anu's mind it was good enough. The sound of his sister's voice was enough to make him jump and he whipped around, the hair tie coming free as he did so and flew across the room. "Sahkie!"

He looked a little guilty, dropping the suitcase in favor of wringing his hands. "Not the whole house! Just my part of it! But Sett said no. He's mean like that." He wrinkled up his nose, only to shrug and reach for another of the excess bags. "What time are we leaving? I can't wait to see Bubba!"

Sett patted Anubis' back halfheartedly before looking at him roll off and make his attempt at cleaning up. It was always with great amusement that Sett watched his younger brother in action. The boy was his own brand of comedy. "Who knows, maybe the heat and pressure of the cargo cabin might make it prettier." Sett said with a serious expression on his face despite him holding back a bout of laughter.

The arrival of his baby sister accusing Anubis of packing up the whole house with him with that laugh of hers. Sett was relieved the girl was trying to get back to normal. It was high time he did too. "Well, someone's gotta be mean and tell Stapler Boy here that his ammunition won't die simply because he didn't bring them along." The twenty-five year old jumped up to his full height before looking at his watch. "We're supposed to be at the airport in an hour. You done packing, Metty?" Sett asked, whipping around to address his only baby sister.

"Gosh, Sett, why're you always so mean!" Sakhmet grinned, shoving her brother playfully. "It's not like there would be any extra fee if Nubs picked up his whole room with us or anything."

She nodded at the eldest Richmond's query. "I've been packed, I was waiting on the two of you." She glanced around the disaster area that was Anubis Richmond's room. "Do either of you need any help...?"

The offer to help was automatic, if perhaps ill-advised: She wasn't sure how the Alchemist managed to find any of his belongings, let alone the important ones, so there was little likelihood she would be able to find anything. And if Sett was in here haranguing Anubis then he was probably finished with his packing as well.

"We need to hurry, you know how long those airport security lines are," She warned the two boys. They'd had this discussion many times since the decision to relocate, but she felt the need to remind them. It never hurt to repeat oneself when talking with the Richmond brothers. Ra could be counted upon, having taken up the mantle of guardian at an early age, but the rest of her brothers could be a bit flighty and distractable.

Anu perked up when Sakhmet called their older brother mean. "Yeah! A total jerk!" He shoved Sett as well, grinning delightedly. Pick-on-Sett time was always a good time in his books.

He squinted his eyes at Sett and stubbornly spouted, "My clothes are already the prettiest! At least I don't dress like a... like a hooligan!" It was obvious by the tone of his voice that he wasn't serious, well, apart from the bit about his clothes being pretty, that is. Anu's wardrobe was worth more than gold in his eyes. He pulled a pillow from his bed and whacked Sett over the head with it before dumping out another suitcase full of stolen goods useless junk excess trinkets. If he wasn't going to be here to marvel at them, then there was really no point in putting them back neatly.

Actually that was only his justification for being lazy and leaving piles of stuff on the floor in his room. He'd just tape a "KEEP OUT" note on the door before he left anyways. Not that he'd know if anyone disobeyed the order.

"I'm almost done, don't worry." He spouted as he unzipped the last of the extra suitcases. "Sett, be a big strong maaaan and take those downstairs?" He pointed at the luggage he did need and smiled hopefully. "And have either of you seen Squid?" Yes, that's the name of his pet squirrel. He made a face. "I hope he hasn't gotten into Isis' underwear drawer again..."
