General Appearance:
Sulking in the background against the dark and dusty walls is JJ. Quite a rebel from his very traditional upbringing Jin remains riding solo, marching and breakdancing his way by the beat of his own drum. Dinner parties and barbecues? Not his sort of style. He'd rather be with his mates at an underground club or skateboarding through the city, practically unrecognizable to the general population, separated from his label as the 'Geneticist's son'. His hair naturally, is a darkish brown, although JJ prefers to keep it as black as possible. In addition, the only body modification he has thus far are two ear gauges, not too big, but just the right size to be seen clearly. His hair is usually mussed, with just a tad of whatever he's got on hand mixed into it (either that or just walking on out of the house with bed-head).
His entire family is Korean, and his father and mother are the first generation to come to America for a so-called 'better life'. Naturally, Jin was brought up speaking Korean, and it wasn't until about preschool that he started to learn some English. By now, though he is bilingual, and speaks English just as well as any American. In addition, JinJin has a very high metabolism, and is therefore, nicely put, a stick. But don't let that deceive you, the kid loves to eat. You name it, he'll try it.
Aside from all the natural tendencies that shape him, his rather materialistic side has stuck with him, despite how much of his family values he's tried to throw away. He certainly loves expensive fashions, and although JJ has little faith in his family, and a somewhat poor relationship with his father, they still give him basically anything he wants, including clothing, technology, and he's even a motorcycle of his choice. Maybe they think that he'll come round again and conform to the family, although he knows this to be a very far reach. Still, he'll take advantage of their kindness and charity just a little while longer.
Personality:
Rugged and blunt, Jin Kyung doesn't have much of a way with diplomacy. He's just the kind of guy that you love to hate, mainly because of his attitude and his apathy. Usually chosen last for group assignments, JJ doesn't have the greatest reputation for being able to work together with people, especially if he has something against them. He's stubborn and rude, even, but usually keeps these emotions to strangers that judge him first. He comes from a rough life, despite how much people doubt that because of his father's money-making job and the family's large estate. His father, Joon Lee Kyung is the top geneticist at the leading hospital in the state, New York, where the Kyung's live. His father was a very frugal man who learned from his father, who learned from his father etc. He hardly spent a wan (rough Korean equivalent for a penny) until he built up his name, his family, and his home. He still stows away the majority of what he earns leaving him with enough money to feed hundreds of children. Still, money didn't cover everything, or smooth everything over. Fights broke out between Jin and his parents, and eventually Jin got involved with gangs and crime, leading to some violent battles, bloody fists and faces, and a whole bunch of bails and blackmails by his father to keep things on the DL about his son's behavior. Even though JinJin isn't involved in crime anymore, its because he chose to, not because daddy threatened to kick him out and send him to boarding school. With that decision made, Jin dropped the real bad behavior, but still kept the tough attitude and behavior. He didn't deal or break windows or steal goods, but he enjoyed the more violent behaviors or the bad neck of towns, although his father or mother wouldn't know anything about it. For all they knew, he was going with friends to a movie or playing video games over at someone's house. Still, could breakdancing really be that harmful for a kid? He went to underground concerts, which subsequently had large groups of people dancing. He loved to break down and have all the eyes on him, and still, to a point, he enjoys that, but only when he's doing something worth staring at. Otherwise, he's toughen up and get paranoid.
Despite his tough outer shell, there is a rather unexpected side of him that he's already made public to both his parents and his twin sister, although they fail to acknowledge that he's actually telling the truth, instead of bullshitting them like he usually does. And although he does agree with that much, this is one thing he definitely isn't messing around about. Ever since he was about eleven, he's been attracted to both girls and guys. He doesn't really spread it around like peanut butter on toast, but its a generally known fact. Still, his family thinks its 'unbecoming' or 'just a stage' for him, figuring he'll get over it eventually, better sooner or later for their sakes. Still, JJ can't shake the interest he has for both sex's anatomy or the excitement he gets in the chase of it all, and for him, it doesn't look like that feeling is going to go away for a very long time, if ever.

Losing his sister. Despite how they fight about stupid, little things, she actually means the world to him, more than both of his parents combined. His love for her is greater than anything in the world. If only she were a meta, she'd stand a better chance to protect herself from his past.
Secret: There are people looking for him, looking for repayment for his past actions. They aren't aware he's a meta or that he's at Hammel. They don't even know his real name, but they sure are good at doing their research, and it seems that they won't stop until they find him.

History
Born in Manhattan, New York, Jin Joo Kyung was laid beside his twin sister Hyo Kim Kyung. The only two children of Joon and Sun Kyung, the two kids stuck by each other throughout childhood and into teen-hood. What other choice did they have? Sure, their mother was no more than a housewife, and instead of finding a job, she stayed at home watching them grow up, although JJ noticed over time that his beloved sister was much more adored than he was as a child, which eventually led to his reclusive and bitter behavior, although if he ever mentioned it to his mother, he'd be slapped across the face. His sister didn't mind being treated like that by her mother, as any child would surely love being spoiled and nurtured. Still, the animosity for both of these people grew in his heart until he ran away from his home at thirteen, protesting that they he had enough of them, and they wouldn't notice that he was gone. Surely, he had underestimated the power they had, and within an hour of their boy missing, he was found wondering the back streets of their neighborhood. Jin was brought back home and severely punished for leaving them; it seemed like they didn't really grasp his reason for leaving whatsoever. Instead they locked him in his room and woulnd't give him dinner or dessert, while Hyo Kim was able to have as much as she wanted.
This animosity didn't stop growing from his failed escape;instead of just running away, he became craftier at lying and getting around issues that would have been controversial. He told them he was going to hang at his friend's house as they played video games, but instead, he would bring a change of clothing in a bag, leave the house, and change in the closest alley he could find, heading off to underground clubs and concerts, soliciting outside of them when he was caught for being underage. Still, when he wasn't getting in trouble at the clubs and concerts, he learned how to break dance, and how to dance hip hop. It became one of his guilty pleasures, as he would teach himself new moves that he had seen or made up. Drawing a crowd around him was one of the best feelings in the world. But still, something was missing in his life, as if he couldn't have enough and needed to feel more.
Eventually, JJ got involved in a gang, but preferring to never give his real name, and going by KJ instead, just to play safe. His sister meant the world to him, despite how much he hated his parents for loving her more than him. He would still want to protect her if he could, despite his constant need for an adrenaline kick. In his gang, he was pressured to break into shops, ruin and vandalize private property, and eventually, all of that went a little too far. He had been trying to rob a convenient store, when he tripped and was seized, his gang leaving him behind instead of backing him up. All that effort and adrenaline wasn't helping him now, and surely wasn't doing any good when his father had to send bail money and a private car to come pick him up. This was his last shot, his father had reclaimed. He would either clean himself up from his dirty and unspeakable acts or he would have to go to a boarding school for the rest of his secondary education.
Now if he thought living at home was bad, just imagine the conformity at a boarding school; everyone would dress the same, act the same, and do everything practically the same way. And then he'd be stuck with a bunch of kids with their noses up their asses because their mum and dad could afford to send them to this school. In fact, if his father wanted to, he could probably buy the school himself with everything that he saved up, and instead of a privilege, JJ's father knew well enough how much he hated conformity or anything of the like. That's why he threatened such a thing, and it struck Jin like a chord.
Within a week or so, Jin had given up most of his 'wicked ways' according to his father, and had begun to straighten up. He was grounded and forced to do all of his work in the dining room, with as little distractions as possible, and in plain, clear view for anyone and everyone to keep their eye on him, just in case he decided to leave suddenly. And as much as he hated it, he ground his teeth the whole way through the rest of those few weeks, passing his classes at last with mostly C's and one or two B's. His father and mother were still keeping an eye on him, but were starting to lighten up on him, treating him to less 'talks' and even letting him go to his friends house, as long as they actually had confirmation from his comrades that he was going to see them.
It just so happened that one night, while walking home from one of his friend's houses after a night of video games and pizza, Jin decided to take a short cut through an alley way he remembered from his past, one he used for quick getaways. But as he reached the near end of it, a large fat man and his sidekick, a rather burly guy, walked up beside him. Minding his own business, Jin kept his head down and tried to get past them, but they thought otherwise. In fact, JJ should have known that they would, since he clearly remembered these baboons from only a few months back. They were in a different gang that was a rival and enemy of his previous one, not like he would give two shits about his gang, they left him in the dust at the scene of the crime, after all. But these two, who he liked to call Shorty and Chunk were looking for some dough. Unfortunately, JJ wasn't carrying anything on him other than the key to his house. Shorty and Chunk didn't take that well, and proceeded to hover over him, starting to punch at him and knock him to the ground. He could feel blood from his nose dribble down to his lips, but knew that he wasn't going to get away from here conscious if he didn't do everything he could to run from them. And that he did, shirking out beneath Chunk's arm, he ran for his life, down through the alley, as fast as his bruised and bloody body could carry him, but they knew the game as well, and as a pair of hyenas after a zebra, they chased after him, into a parking lot at the other end of the alley. It was deserted, and it would be a long way until he could find people and safety. He was exhausted, but he knew he had to keep pushing on, so he trudged on, towards the opposite end of the parking lot. Maybe Chunk would run out of breath, which he did, but after five minutes. Shorty on the other hand, seemed to be gaining that so addicting adrenaline as he went, becoming more and more mangy as he ran, his face painted with all sorts of crazy on it. But Jin's side was killing him, and it felt like h had a broken rib. Still, he ran and ran, as fast and as far as he could, until he'd gotten to a dead end.
It looked like the end, and it was written all over his face, much to Shorty's satisfaction. JJ prepared his stance for battle, but Shorty had other plans, he pulled out a knife from his belt, jabbing the air at him, getting closer and closer. This is the end, he thought, but imagined his sister, all alone at night walking home as she did. She could be attacked by these goonies too, and he wouldn't be there to help her. Jin held out his hands so as to signal some sort of defeat with Shorty, but something else happened entirely. From his hands shot some sort of translucent, milky colored bubble that shot right at Shorty, causing the guy to fly backwards. In utter shock, JJ's mouth was gaping open, trying to figure out what the hell had just happened. Whatever it was, it kept Shorty and his shiny friend away from JJ, and if he could do it again, he would. Jin stood up, getting off of his knees and looked down at Shorty. The guy was laying motionless. Was it a smart idea to get any further? Was he faking it, and creating a trap to end JJ? And more importantly, if the guy was still conscious, would JJ be able to make that awesome bubble-thing again and shoot the guy away from him? But the burly, little man never got up. Instead, as Jin waited for something, some sort of movement, a dark red, nearly purple pool of liquid leaded out from under the man. It must have been coming from his chest, as the guy was shot down onto his face from this aura-thing. Figuring he was safe enough to inspect the guy, Jin kicked him over with his foot, and backed away as soon as he saw the man, his face mangled from the blacktop, and his shirt stained in the center. There, Shorty's silver friend was sticking out, a flicker of light from the moon's reflection caught in Jin's eyes. He dared himself to feel the man's pulse. There was something small there, but it was weak, and hardly constant. Panicking, Jin got up and paced around. As rough as he'd ever been, he'd never gone as far as to attempt to kill anyone. And now, when he was least expecting it, exactly when he needed it the least, there was a man, practically dying in front of him. Jin pulled out his cell phone, dialed 9-1-1 and waited from someone to pick up. He was panicking, and his voiced showed that when he tried to explain to the lady on the other line what had happened. Although he really wasn't sure if he had made himself clear, and the fact that he said 'this bubble-aura-thing shot from my hand and knocked the guy out' didn't really sound like he was a useful source, they promised to send someone there as soon as possible. Jin didn't want this, really. He was just trying to get home. Why did this need to happen? Was he going to be questioned? How would he be able to show this again? Everything was so exhausting that the world around him seemed to be fading to black, and eventually, he heard himself fall to the ground, and beyond that, he'd fallen into a deep slumber.
Waking up in a brick room with solid mahogany floors, Jin knew he was at home at last. But how did he get here? The last thing he remembered was waiting for an ambulance to go pick up some goony that had managed to nearly kill himself. How much time had passed since then? Had it been the next morning, days from that time, or even longer? JJ lifted himself up after taking in his surroundings, put on a pair of jeans, and walked down the spiral staircase to find his mother and father sitting with arms crossed, his sister standing in the background, trying to absorb everything, and then there a stranger was, talking to them. This wasn't really a new thing for JJ, considering his father had many people of importance at the house on quite a regular basis, but why was his sister caring to pay attention to what was going on? Why did she looked worried? Skeptical, JJ walked on down the remaining few steps and put his arms around his sister's neck. Startled, she jumped, and everyone stopped talking until Mr. Suit Man looked over at JJ, and smiled at him. "Here's the man we're looking for." The man in the suit smiled and looked over at Jin. Wait...who was looking for whom? Was he in trouble? Should he run? "Hey man! I didn't do anything. You've got nothing on my hands." He started to get defensive as if ready to make a run for it, But the guy stood up and tried to reassure him that he was in no danger with them, as long as he didn't try to fight or run off. That's exactly what a copper would say..Still, he stood there, as his father gave him a warning look, and his sister gave him that 'I wouldn't do that if I were you, you'll get the shit kicked out of you' face, so with that, he waited to see what the guy wanted. Once the guy knew that Jin wasn't going to leave, he explained to Jin that the 'white bubble thing' he made when he needed it most was a forcefield, and that's why the guy flew twenty feet backwards. Then the guy reassured him that it was best for him to lie low for a bit, let all of this drama settle down, but while he was doing such, he would be needing to go to a school by the name of Hammel. He reassured JJ that it wasn't a boarding school, really, and kids were about as different as night and day. There wasn't any dress codes, and you could mainly take the classes you wanted, join whatever clubs you wanted or make a few new of your own. He said that the school body and teachers were accepting of all sorts of different abilities, and that JJ would soon come to learn he wasn't the only one out there with weird things happening to him.
At first, JJ was thinking he basically had no choice, and that his father had set him up in this one, but his mother stepped in, which shook JJ off guard, considering that his mother usually just stood beside his father no matter what. She reassured him that these guys had found them, and managed to get to them without much havoc, despite how difficult they had made it for anyone to get in contact with them. These guys were the good guys, and no way, shape, or form, associated with any sort of investigators or police. Plus, his mother thought it was a good idea for him to get away for now, so that his could smooth this huge matter all up. Yeah, dad's way of fixing things is bribing and blackmailing people to shut up. Still, he thought that this place sounded alright, sounded like nothing he'd heard of before, and a place where he might get some freedom from his parents and his occasionally nagging sister...but would she be safe?
Before sealing the deal, he made the guys promise that they'd do what they could to make sure his sister didn't get hurt, although what they could really do, he wasn't very sure. Just to make sure that he could try to protect her, he made her promise that she would call him every week or so, just to check up on her. And now that her parents didn't have to worry about his safety, they could put the focus on their daughter's even more than they normally did. If Chunk remembered his face, then there could be a way of him seeking revenge, or just about anyone else from his shady past could come and threaten his family, which was the last thing he wanted or needed. Saying goodbye to his sis, father and mother, he left with the man in the suit and all the belongings he could manage to fit in two suitcases and a bag, and headed out towards the school of metas.
----------
Midway through his third year of school and floating along with passing grades, for the most part, JJ is doing alright. He's managed to somewhat control his forcefield, and during his first year, he learned how to control it and summon it to come when he needed it. The year after that, he worked on expanding it to fit any size or shape he needed, and this year, he's still working on using it to protect not only himself, but another person or persons as well. It would be perfect if he could, but it was hard work, which he often became frustrated with and got pissy about, which led to him slamming doors behind him or punching walls. Still, that was something he needed to work on, and was requested to go talk to a psychiatrist about his anger issues. It wasn't the first time that he had been warned about his somewhat violent behavior, and he knew that if he didn't get his act together, he'd probably have forced lessons with the psych. Not like that would help anything; no one needed to know that he was the kid with mental issues as well, he had enough crap in his life to add that embarrassment on top of everything.
But things would get better, he was sure of it. After all, he was in charge of his own body, as the trainers and professors liked to say. He would have to learn not only control of his ability but also control of himself if he wanted to graduate and move on with his life.
