Dryope and I have been putting this together, and we would love to see them taken up. Because of their close personal history, they should be read in tandem and optimally, there should be some coordination between players because that makes it more fun. And they're insane.
Scientist #1:
Name: Dr. Atticus Proctor (Multiple PhDs in natural sciences)(Middle name up to player)
Age Range: Late 50s or 60s
Suggested PBs: Christopher Lloyd (It’s player’s choice, but just consider the possibilities and how easy it would be to have graphics made for you!)
Meta status: Optional. If meta human, he should have a power would be of use to his science experiments and invention (such as institutive aptitude – insofar as being able to build machines and invent ala Forge, not as a euphemism for power absorption/mimicry ala Sylar; or technopathy, or elemental transmutation etc.)
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Occupation: Mad scientist
Personality: Exceedingly intelligent and devoted to his work as well as his lofty dreams of a world with no problems because they have all been solved through SCIENCE. Has been disgusted with all facets of government and all political parties since they let the Hubble Telescope go; is affiliated with neither party and will not discuss politics. But he’s friendly and courteous, but…intense, and off-putting. And some children are warned not to go to his house on Halloween because he might be crazy.
Additional Notes:
-An established, well-compensated scientist and local character, works out of his home which takes up two residential lots; one is for testing and the other is for living and building.
-Was the mentor of Dr. Gamble, his most gifted protégé. (As a joke between them, he used to affectionately call Gamble his minion and now does it to taunt him/get a rise out of him).
-Had a falling out with Gamble, regarding what color to paint their laboratory (not only does he think that this is a legitimate reason to stop working with someone and over which to lose a friend, he still believes that he was 100% right and that Gamble was an idiot, and since Gamble refuses to admit this, he is also a stubborn idiot.)
-Red is a terrible color for a laboratory and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.
-Gamble is now his rival. When around him, they bicker. About everything.
-There are lots of rumors about him, but most of them aren’t true.
-Rumor has it he’s nocturnal
-Rumor has it, he used to work for the government and he saw something he shouldn’t have; that’s why he has so much money to spend on experiments and can have his own laboratory and doesn’t have a real job. (That’s not true! I heard he just has a million patents.) (Well, I heard that there was this lawsuit...)
History: Anything not established explicitly is entirely up to the player who adopts him
Scientist #2:
Name: Dr. Finch Gamble (Multiple PhDs in natural science) (Middle name up to player)
Age Range: Mid 30s
Meta Human Status: Optional. If meta human, he should have a power to juxtapose Dr. Proctor’s. (See above for Dr. Proctor).
PB: Doctor Steel
Occupation: Mad scientist
Additional notes:
-He didn’t come from money originally.
-However, he has it now (this is up to the player, whether it is due to government grants, savvy marketing skills, or whatever comes to mind) he likes dress in a manner which he thinks is equivalent to money so he wears waistcoats and top hats etc.
-Red is a very refined color and is perfectly acceptable for a laboratory. The twit doesn’t understand his vision.
-His favorite books are Frankenstein and the Island of Dr. Moreau (He never realized that these are morality tales, and so he thinks that they’re how-to guides for good scientists.)
-As a result, he is saving up his money to buy his own island for this purpose.
-He should probably have moved when he and Proctor had their falling out, but he is stubborn and will prove that he is the SUPERIOR SCIENTIST.
-His education has come from scholarships because his family couldn’t afford to give him those opportunities unassisted.
-When he was younger, Proctor was his role model and so he sought out the older scientist and either impressed him with his skills and eagerness or harassed him into taking him on as a minion.
History and Personality: Anything not mentioned is up to the player who adopts him.
