The Basics
Name: Helen Marie Baker
Nicknames: Len, Leonard
Age: 16
Orientation:Bisexual,Homosexual,Heterosexualuhh... -shrug- ??
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Can change her appearance and voice at will and her body type. Prefers to make herself a boy. An alter ego she's named Len. Can keep it up for a good few hours at a time. But it does cause muscle aches and fatigue. And some features don't always shift the way she wants them to. At least they didn't in the begining. Once she shifted into Len, but still had Helen's left leg! Painted toe nails, smooth skin and all! Not to mention she had to sit the day out because it was nearly impossible to walk with legs two different legnths. Transforming is something reserved for times when she has to be in public, like classes. Though some days she chooses to just go to class as Helen, as the task of shifting every day all day is very daunting.
Play By:Ash Stymest as Len and Shealeen Louise Puckett as Helen
The Details
Hair Color: Dark brown
Eye Color: It changes!!!
Any Piercings? Helen has her ears pierced but thats it.
Any Tattoos? nope
Any Scars?not a single one.
General Appearance:Helen and Len are very different and very similar types of dressers. And very the same about personal hygiene. Their clothes are always clean and pressed and their hair neat and tidy. They have very different body types though. Helen is a petite girl with long waving brown hair. Her curls hang around her shoulders. Her skin is a little darker than it is when she's morphed into Len, simply because she doesn't think boys should be that tan. She likes prints and very girls clothes. As a girl should be.
Len on the other hand is tall, standing at 5'10, and has an average body type for someone his height. While Helen takes longer to get dressed, the mind behind this identity crisis thinks that her alter ego Len should be less high maintenance. As her ideals of boys is what influences the way she wishes Len to be perceived, he often just follows trends. Less effort is surely put into his attire. Jeans and a t-shirt is alright for him. Or a nice button up.
Example
Personality: This doesn't vary as much from persona to persona. Both are very quiet and reserved about their feelings. Though as a girl, Helen does feel more comfortable speaking her mind. She feels some people will just accept what she has to say better when she is as she was when she came into this world. And while she's more comfortable about her mind as a girl, she feels more comfortable about her body as a boy.
Either way confidence is an issue on both sides. The mind behind them is however very smart and learns by watching and doing. They can play the piano very well. And as Len's vocal cords are different, he cannot sing, but Helen can. They are timid about showing their talents though for deep fear of criticism. They are aware that they live in a critic's world and that everything they do is judged. Needless to say, they're in therapy twice a week. Once for Helen and once for Len. Simply because the mind behind them thinks its only fair because sometimes thinking is different as different people.
Your Vices
Likes: music, working on cars, graveyards. Not for any morbid reason. Simply because the people there either have better things to do than judge him, or their dead. Also Rather fond of video games.
Dislikes:people who are too quick to judge, having to define who or what he or she is or isn't. Guys who ask Len if he has a sister. Its just kinda creepy.
Strengths:great at keeping secrets. Amazing musician and can learn a lot of instruments very quickly. Loyal. well trained with her ability (obviously)
Weaknesses: sports. Talking to other people. Cannot drive. Which irritates them. But they can ride a bike.
Fears: Rejection, hate, being called a mental case.
Secret: Not everyone knows about Len. Most students think they are two different people. And Helen lets them think that. Its just easier than explaining everything. Though the teachers have been for warned.
Family Ties
Father:Richard Baker a Lawyer
Mother: Bethany Baker a homemaker
Siblings: an older brother John Baker
Any Other Important People:Desperately wants to bring her cat Reginald to school.
History
Helen grew up in North Carolina. Her father was in every way a man's man. He brought home all the money and provided for his one boy and one girl family. With a wife who was the epitome of good house keeping, and a dog to lay out on the porch. Well it was John's dog. Naturally his son had to have a dog. And his sweet princess of a daughter had to have a kitten. Once they were old enough to look after the animals themselves of course. Richard taught John how to budget and negotiate. How to fix cars and paint the fence. How to smile and nod even if Bethany's food wasn't the best ever. And their mother taught Helen to sew and cook and play piano. "All the things a little girl should know if she's going to grow up to support a family and run a house hold." That's what her mother had said after each time she taught Helen something new.
To an outsider, their family looked like something on a post card from Pleasentville in the 50's or 60's. John and Helen knew they weren't like the other families in town. But their parents liked the routine. The comfort. Knowing church came on Sunday and all of them were in the fourth pew back on the right, every week. In their best clothes. Mother always wore white lace gloves. As they grew older, the children began to realize the modern world was very different from how their parents wanted to see it. John began to teach Helen about cars and fishing, and Helen taught him how to sing and dance and play music.
But Helen had a secret. A girl down the street had cut off all of her hair and said she was a boy now. At the bitter age of nine, Helen could scarcely be expected to understand this, but she did. The little girl didn't want to be a little girl anymore. And the more Helen thought about it, the more Helen wanted to be a boy too. But the thought was silly. Girls didn't become boys if you cut their hair. They just became girls with short hair. So the innocent child put the thoughts to rest.
But something bothered her. Father wouldn't allow her to work on cars with them, or go on fishing trips. She had to beg them just to teach her to ride a bike. Mother nearly had a fit when Helen wore her nice shoes to go racing down the streets with the other kids. His reasoning, "This are boy things, Helen, and you're a girl." So Helen retreated to her room. It was around this time, age ten or so, that she became very quiet and started to read. She read everything. One day while she was sitting in her room, flipping through the well used pages of Alice in Wonderland for about the billionth time, she looked up out her window and saw the girl with the short hair, kissing another girl. They were both about 14 or so.
It was beginning to occur to Helen that this world was not as it seemed. She watched all the time to see the girls again. Not for perverted reasons, just because in a home where she was restricted from things for being a girl, the neighbors kissing was like a glimmer of hope that the rest of the world was a little more open minded to things. Around 12, Helen had just started toying with the idea that girls could kiss girls and that was okay. And boys could kiss boys and that was okay too. And naturally boys and girls could kiss each other. And all of it was okay.
One morning around 6 am, while Helen was getting ready for school, the neighbor girl was at it again. Helen desperately wished she would be allowed to cut her hair off and be a boy. Perhaps being a boy would allow her to do what ever she wanted when ever she wanted. And when she opened her eyes from this little internal wish, her hair had all but entirely vanished. It was only an inch or two long at the top now. Her mother went into a riot when she saw. But Helen didn't know how it had happened so she didn't know how to reverse it.
Her mother tired everything to doll it up, but Helen removed the bows and berets and simply said to her mother, "I want to look like a boy. I like this. I don't want to be a girl." Even at a young age, Helen knew the difference. And so did a place called Hammel. An institute she was told by her father who wanted to keep his daughter's identity crisis kept quiet. At first the word institute scared her. She wasn't crazy!!! She didn't need to be hospitalized! But upon the arrival of a recruiter, she was told she was gifted. That she had changed her appearance at will. And had the power to change it when ever she felt like it. That no one who worked there would ever tell her she looked wrong.
Now, Helen spends a good portion of her days as Len. The alter ego she portrays while shifted to a male. Four years here at the school has helped with that. She's kept to herself so she hasn't made any friends. And neither has Len. And though it is the same body and same mind, the two personalities inside her are indeed very different in subtle ways. But fear has kept them to themselves. However, someone is bound to get through... sometime. Right?
Roleplay Example
He was afraid she'd laugh at him? Why on earth would he think that? Alice had never been the type to laugh at anyone. On occasion Dorcas, but that was far beside the point. "I'd love to walk with you.." Letting him take her hand, Alice fell silent for a while. An unnatural task all in itself. Alice had a habit of not using a filter on things that came out of her mouth. It was a little funny to her because Frank seemed to filter so much that it all came out in nervous rambles. Like he had no control of when... just what. And when something had to be said... he simply stumbled over what it was he wanted to get out. It was a bizarrely adorable quality to her.
Something was suddenly dawning on her now. He was FRANK LONGBOTTOM. THE Frank Longbottom. It was as if she'd finally come off all the adrenaline and was only now realizing what was going on. Poor little Alice was so over come with shock that she very nearly tripped over her own feet into the dirt. Holding his hand a little tighter she composed herself. Alice was never one to have inner monologues. So no pep talk was going on at that time. Though the more she tried to get her head straight, the more she sort of wished she was that sort of person.
"I wouldn't have laughed." He didn't want to talk about that... and now knowing that he could have asked her out ages ago and missed all those opportunities most likely didn't make him feel very good. "Not that you shouldn't have waited. Its sort of romantic really. All those passing times giving detentions. But not the time in the broom closet.... Or the time that Honking Daffodil caught a cold and sneezed all over me." she remembered well the nasty green goo that came from that filthy thing. Herbology, like, arithmancy, was not one of her favorite subjects. "Those would have been awful times to ask me.... or possibly the best... not really sure....Ehhh...."
She looked up at him and searched for a different topic. Come on... come on... Nothing. She couldn't think of anything else to say. So, Alice simply stared up at him waiting for him to change the subject. Smiling awkwardly, Alice shrugged her shoulders a little and just chuckled.
