The Basics
Name: Mitchell Theodore Vick
Nicknames: Mitch, usually
Age: 52
Orientation: Bisexual
Desired Rank/Job: English professor at University of Vermont
Powers: Limited telekinesis: the heaviest/largest thing Mitch can manage to lift is a baseball. It’s not particularly exciting. He gets headaches from time to time from it, and if he uses it too long, he gets muscle fatigue. He barely uses it, however, seeing as it doesn't do much.
Play By:Colin Firth
The Details
Hair Color:Brown
Eye Color:Brown
Any Piercings?No
Any Tattoos? No
Any Scars? Nothing extraordinary
General Appearance:Mitch is a fairly good-looking man, although he rarely thinks of himself as such. He has a wide, lopsided smile—when it shows—and a headful of brown curly hair that he’s rather grateful for at his age. He likes to be clean-shaven and his usual attire is a button-up shirt and jacket and slacks, neatly pressed and wrinkle-free. His weekend wear is a little more casual, although it still features a button-up shirt, it also involves jeans and probably not a tie. Probably. He’s not especially tall or short, standing at about 5’11 in height. He looks a little young for his age, and he thanks his good genes for that blessing. He’s a little on the pale side, but he usually tans in the sun rather than burns, which is nice. His demeanor is calm, unless things get fairly out of control, but he has a rather good hold on his expressions, so it’s fairly hard to tell. He’s in good shape, but more because he’s a light eater rather than he actually takes time out for physical exercise. He really doesn’t like physical exercise. He doesn’t have any extraordinary features; he’s just a fairly ordinary fellow.
Personality:Mitch is kind of fussy, and seems a little abrupt if you don’t know him. He likes schedules, a good amount of order in his life, and gets cranky if he thinks a situation is verging on the irrational. He’s not a neat freak, however, which is what people tend to assume upon meeting him. He doesn’t mind a little mess—and with two kids, that’s probably a good thing for his sanity—but what he does mind is making plans and then having those plans altered at the last minute. Spontaneity isn’t his forte, but he’s beginning to believe that he should have a little excitement in his life. Just to see what it’s like. In that vein, he has neither an explosive temper nor is he prone to moments of insane happiness. He’s a quiet man with a fairly steady, even temper. It doesn’t take much to annoy him, but it takes a good deal to enrage him. His world is small: work and his children. He loves his two children more than anything in the world, although he is a little awkward with showing outright affection. He may come across as a little cold sometimes, and he’s aware of this, and is trying to work on that. He likes to laugh, although he doesn’t do it often, and has the irritating tendency to overthink things. He is, however, very caring (often accused of caring too much). He is very invested in the success of his students and passionate (as passionate as Mitch can be) about his subject. He’s well read (possibly a bit of a literature snob), and is always prepared to use whatever knowledge at his disposal to help his students. His default setting is usually bemused, although he can switch quickly to irritated if things start getting ridiculous. Mitch is a listener more than a talker, mostly because his topics of conversation range from his subject to his children and that’s about it. He’s a good teacher, a good father and a good friend, if a little awkward.
Your Vices
Likes: reading (particularly Tennyson and Wilde), his children, his job, things going according to plan, his students, coffee (black, no sugar), muffins—he’s not sure why, but muffins are so tasty, that new book smell, peace and quiet; a little hard to get with two children
Dislikes: Kindles, ebooks, or anything of the sort. It’s blasphemous. People being irrational, someone/thing mucking up his plans last minute, most technology, mystery novels and other “trash” fiction, confrontation, crowds
Strengths: good memory, fast reader, dedicated teacher, articulating his opinions, cooking, keeping a level head, seeing the worth in people, he’s a good listener, patient with teenage nonsense from his job and his children
Weaknesses: spontaneity, going with the flow, showing affection, he can be a smidge snobby when it comes to reading, starting conversations, meeting new people (he may be a little shy), he doesn’t possess the same amount of patience for his peers that he has for teenagers and young adults
Fears: losing his children, not being a good father, letting his students down, losing his memory
Secret: Mitchell is a total wuss on carnival rides. Even the little teacups at Disney reduce him to a shrieking little girl. It’s so embarrassing.
Family Ties

History
Mitchell Vick was born August 19, 1959 to Thomas and Clarice Vick in the town of Eugene, Oregon. Thomas was a high school geometry teacher and Clarice was a stay at home mother, and although Mitch was their only child, he was far from spoiled. His parents always tried to instill a sense of morality, propriety and manners into their son. He grew up a model child: studious, quiet, obedient and kind. He had only a few close friends, and enjoyed hiding in small places and reading quietly for hours. There was many a time when his parents thought he was lost, when really, he was tucked away in some corner, reading a book. When he was twelve, he was in science class, trying and failing to understand the material, when something very odd happened. He was staring at his pencil, his mind wandering as a young boy’s does when he’s bored, and he wondered what it would be like if he could make pencils fly, or something of the like. To his great astonishment, the pencil flew from his desk in the front row and hit the teacher. Both Mitch and his instructor were shocked, but Mitchell couldn’t explain what had happened. He was given short after-school detention and the next day, Hammel officials arrived.
He enjoyed Hammel as much as he enjoyed anything else, although it took some time to adjust to his surroundings. He continued to be a good student and a generally well-behaved child. The fact that his first real relationship at sixteen was a boy came as a surprise to his parents. And the fact that his next was a young lady caused a great deal of confusion to everyone involved. Secretly, his parents hoped it was just a phase, but they said nothing to Mitchell, although he always suspected they felt that way. Mitchell graduated when he was eighteen with exceptional grades and an offer to attend University of Washington. He spent four years there, obtaining his degree in English. However, his journey in academia didn’t end there. After he graduated, he sought out his Master’s degree at Harvard, which was thrilling to Mitchell. It was there he met Sarah. He was teaching a class as a graduate student and she was one of his students. Although she ended up dropping his class, they continued to be in contact. Soon after, they began dating. They were married when he was thirty-three and she was twenty-six and he got a teaching job at a community college in Massachusetts.
Two years later, Sarah and Mitchell became parents. Their son Elliot was born one March evening and although it was difficult—Mitchell had a full teaching schedule and Sarah wanted to be an artist—Mitch had never been happier in his whole life. When, two years after, Sarah announced that she was pregnant again, Mitch was ecstatic. Little Jacqueline added to what Mitchell could only describe as the perfect family.
However, it wasn’t meant to last. If anyone were to ask Mitch, he would willingly take the majority of the blame for the divorce. Sarah was a lively, vivacious, if a little flighty young woman, and Mitchell was already an old soul. Add that to their age difference and having two children so close in age and Mitchell being at work while Sarah stayed at home, it was no wonder to Mitch that Sarah wanted some freedom. When Jackie was ten and Elliot was twelve, the couple decided to divorce quietly and without much fuss. Both loved their children very much and wanted this to be as easy on them as possible. They are still friends, on very good terms, and Sarah gets the children the first and last weekend of every month as well as Christmas and Easters. Their time is split during the summer holidays. Mitch’s decision to move to Pilot Ridge was prompted by his son’s metagene (plant manipulation) manifesting. Rather than have his family separated even more than it already was, Mitchell did some research and found a job opening as an English and Literature professor at the University of Vermont. Taking it as a sign, Mitch moved so that his son could live at home with them as he continued his training.
