The Basics
Name: Dante Antony Herondale
Nicknames: Not really.
Age: 16 going on 17
Orientation: Homosexual, but doesn’t quite know that yet.
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Super Strength and Durability: Yes, you heard right. Dante has abnormal power and resilience. It really is quite hard to tell from how scrawny he is, but he can lift cars if he really wants to. Usually he doesn’t, but it can be quite disconcerting to see him lift five times his body weight with one hand. The maximum weight he can lift is one ton, or 2000 pounds. After using his strength for a while, Dante can get easily tired, giving way to some of his laziness. It’s also pretty tough to hurt him, though not impossible. When he does get hurt, it takes a long time for him to heal, usually at least a month or more, depending on the size of injury. He can withstand most punches and kicks without getting winded; it’s especially bad bone breaks and deep cuts that are the killers.

General Appearance: Let's face it- Dante is a twig. He's slender and lanky, with not much in the way of visible muscle mass at all, especially compared to his older brothers. Not quite past that awkward teenage stage, he hasn't quite grown into his body yet, making him a tad bit clumsy at times. He's constantly teased by his brothers for having almost delicate bone structure and facial features. Despite his tries to make himself look more masculine, Dante just has those elf-like features.
His eyes are wide and appear innocent at times, rimmed by nearly feminine lashes. Don't be deceived, he can give a wicked glare when he's pissed. His hair is almost always messy. Dante hates taming it, as he finds it too much of a hassle for him to bother with. His clothing choices tend to lean towards jeans and t-shirts, usually either black or with old band logos emblazoned across them. Fingerless gloves and leather jackets can also be found in his wardrobe.
Personality: Of all things, Dante was taught that he had to be what his father considered to be 'manly'. Lucius Herondale nailed home all the things he was supposed to like: cars, camping, sports, etc. Of course, Dante is not exactly into those things. The only thing he seems to truly appreciate that his dad approved of was his rock and roll collection. Nothing tops Queen of The Who or Kiss for Dante. He has every record he can find, and everything is stashed on an iPod that he tends to take everywhere.
There are things that Dante does prefer that his father doesn't particularly agree with. He doesn't mind reading in his spare time, which his family finds as a waste of time. He also has a secret love for gardening, though that is something he would never tell in fear of getting made fun of. Dante also cooks on occasion, but his family observes the task as a 'woman's job'.
Despite the difference in opinions concerning hobbies and behavior, Dante really just wants to please his dad. He's had a hero worship for the man since he was a very young age. Maybe it was because of his father's tough love attitude that Dante would nearly beg for scraps of his father's attention every once in a while. He just wants to make his dad proud.
Dante tends to be a bit of a carefree lazy punk when he's not thinking about or around his father. It isn't that unusual to see him lounging about, playing with his guitar. Plucking at the strings tends to help him think sometimes. He doesn't really let what people say get under his skin; he figures they probably won't even remember him in a few years, so what was the point in letting them get to him? Dante tends to shrug things off in an almost apathetic manner if things aren't going his way, more of a defense mechanism than anything else.
Dante tends to be a bit of a loner. That's not to say he doesn't like company. He just tends to be fine alone most of the time. His friends are few and far between, but they stick with him for a long time. He's pretty loyal, wouldn't even consider stabbing someone in the back, and always stands behind his friends even when they're wrong.
When it comes to attractions...Dante just doesn't fit. Hd believes himself to either be asexual or just hasn't found the right 'girl' yet. Little does he know that he's not attracted to girls at all. He's been blinded by his family's homophobia. His family doesn't believe that homosexuals should be part of culture, and thus the thought has never crossed his mind. They're 'pansies' in his father's eyes, not 'manly' at all. Thus, Dante has never once batted a lash at the subject and just thinks something must be wrong with him.

History
Dante Antony Herondale was born on July 14th, 1994 to Lucius and Jessamine Herondale in Los Angeles, California. He has two older brothers, Jason and Perseus, and one younger brother named Xander. The family was somewhat old fashioned: His mom was pretty much a trophy wife while dad made the dough. Lucius owned his own mechanic shop and would enlist his boys to help him fix up the cars. Being raised by a military father, Lucius held all that was masculine above everything else. He took the boys camping and fishing outside the city in the middle of nowhere, had them join sports teams, the whole shebang. Of course, Dante was not someone who particularly liked these activities, but he loved his father and wanted to please him in any ways he could.
Dante joined Little League Baseball as soon as his dad could get him to hold a bat. His brothers similarly had their own sport Lucius would have them play. Basketball, football, hockey...they each had their own niche. Dante didn't particularly like playing baseball, but seeing his dad cheering in the crowd always encouraged him. He continued playing until he got too old for the Little League, then he played in middle school and high school.
He was seven when he had his first encounter with his father's homophobia. They were out in downtown L.A. when they passed a gay couple making out on a bench. His father had been enraged at the sight, calling it unnatural, wrong, calling them fags and pansies. He said gay people were weirdos and shouldn't exist. Dante accepted it as fact and let it sink into his brain, another way of thinking that would control his life.
He was fourteen when he discovered he was a meta. It was during a baseball game, when it was his turn as pitcher. Dante got into position, wound up his arm and threw the pitch at the batter. It hit, the force at which he threw it being enough to break the bat into halves. Nobody understood it, but only a few days afterward, a recruiter came for Dante. His family was surprised at this development but took it well enough. They sent him packing, and for the last two years has been honing his powers at Hammel.
At first it was hard, getting used to pretty, cold Vermont after living in southern California most of his life. He eventually adjusted and made a few friends, learning how to control his powers. It was a tiring process, but after two years he is pretty good at controlling his strength. Hammel has become a second home, and Dante loves it.
Roleplay Example
Insomnia wasn't that much of an uncommon occurrence for Ariana Simone. Her inspiration usually came at night, in those dark hours when she let her mind go blank. But she hadn't quite gotten back into the swing of Hammel yet, and she was still unpacking her stuff in her new dorm room. Two boys and one girl, which was much different from her previous dorm room, which had been majorly female dominated. Poor Eric, stuck in there with the three girls. She'd yet to formally meet her new roommates, but she'd seen them around before. She recognized Ann, even thought they'd never really talked before. The younger boy she was unfamiliar with, as was the older one that had the room across from hers in the suite. All she knew was that he played guitar. Really well.
After staring at the ceiling for a long time, Ariana became restless. Turning her head, she looked at her alarm clock. 1:57 a.m. It was disappointing that she hadn't gotten her mannequins assembled yet; she would have liked starting on her new designs. Pushing herself up onto her elbows, Ariana rubbed at her eyes with one hand, sighing. A pair of purple plaid pajama pants were slung low on her hips, matched with a gray tanktop that had NEW YORK THESPIAN scrawled across it. Sighing in mild frustration, the diva rolled out of bed, her fingers raking through her tangled mane of raven curls as she thought. If only she had her tea. She'd need to replenish her stash sooner than later. Slipping on her froggy slippers, their beady eyes smiling up at her, Ari threw her hair up into a messy bun, peeking outside of her room. Seeing that no one else was around, she tiptoed out into the common area, careful not to make any noise as she passed her roommates' rooms. Her slippered feet were silent as she walked out into the hallway, searching for something to do.
Her wayward feet sent her towards the student lounge, where she could hear a faint clacking from down the hall. Who else could be up at this ungodly hour? Curious, Ari crept into the room, surprised to find one of her roommates playing pool by himself. She couldn't remember his name...it was unique sounding, but it was just not coming to mind. No one else was there, just the one guy knocking the balls across the table. He probably couldn't sleep just like she couldn't. Trying not to attract his attention quite yet, she tiptoed over to where the pool sticks were lined up, plucking one down as she watched him. She quietly made her way to the other side of the pool table, placing her hand on the green felt as she lifted her hazel eyes to look at him, tilting her head to the side like a curious puppy. "Mind if I join you?"
