The Basics
Name: Daniele Elizabeth Cooper
Nicknames: Dani
Age: Fifteen
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Electrokinesis - the ability to manipulate, control and absorb electricity. Daniele can, in a nutshell, transform her own energy into an electric current that escapes through her hands or absorb electric energy from varying sources around her such as power lines and electronics just to name a few. She can use this ability as an electric blast to harm others or use it to 'kick-start' machines such as vehicles or simple kitchen appliances.
When she uses her own energy to produce the electricity that escapes her hands (usually when she is not surrounded by other outside sources) she will become tired or hungry faster than the average human. When absorbing from outside sources such as power lines, lights and other electronics around her tend to flicker. While she does not have the current capability or endurance to cause power outages, with further training and a lot of adrenaline she could accidentally absorb enough electricity to do it.

The Details
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Any Piercings? Double-pierced ears, navel.
Any Tattoos? N/A
Any Scars? Various scars from growing up with three older brothers. None very distinguishable.
General Appearance: Daniele has a fun, tom-boyish appearance but generally people do not look twice when they see her in a crowd. Her light brown hair is kept long, usually in an untidy ponytail or simply down and equally as messy. She has a fair complexion and delicate features, but her sarcastic grin and mischievous eyes as well as her personality seem to make her appear a whole lot tougher. Her fingernails are usually bitten and occasionally painted black (it is the only shade she will ever have them in). As far as her make-up, she usually keeps it natural, but since beginning at Hammel she has a new-found love for eyeliner.
Her clothing is simple and comfortable. Tank tops, hoodies, graphic t-shirts; just think Hot Topic but definitely not colorful. In fact, she absolutely hates pastel or neon colors, especially pink. She likes black, dark shades of blues and grays, white, reds, browns, dark greens... Daniele could not be considered as fashionable. She wears what she likes and doesn't care what people think. She likes sweats and jeans (often with rips and holes). She would never be caught dead wearing dresses or skirts. Skate shoes, basketball shoes and boots are her usual footwear. As far as accessories go she has a favorite silver chain her father gave her when she was young, which she wears almost daily. She does like wristbands and has a few piercings on her body.
Personality: Daniele Cooper can be described as 'one of the boys'. She was raised by her single father – a mechanic – alongside her three rough older brothers, not to mention all of her friends back home were boys. It is safe to say Daniele was pretty much forced to grow up tough. She never really did get along well with the typical girl. Fashion and gawking at boys? Not her cup of tea. She'd rather put a guy in a headlock than melt over his looks. She was always into sports – soccer and kick-boxing mainly. She loves to keep in shape and works out regularly. She is sarcastic, especially when she finds someone ridiculous or downright annoying. She doesn't like stupidity. Out-going is also a term that could describe Daniele. She always liked to talk to people and have fun. She doesn't need to be asked twice when it comes to going to parties or hanging out with a group of friends. She's fine with large crowds – in fact, she cannot stand being on her own for too long.
Her active and social lifestyle means she cannot stay still for very long and that often got her on a lot of teachers' bad sides over the years. She can't help but speak her mind and would rather kick a ball and screw around with her friends than sit in a classroom doing something as painfully boring as math or English. The only class she ever really liked or cared for was gym and wood shop... Maybe even Chemistry. She is a hands-on person and experimenting is how she learns. Give her a malfunctioning car and she can toy around with it until it is fixed – give her a pen and paper with an equation she has to use her head to resolve and she'll have a lot of trouble.
On the other side of the coin, there is a calm, loving girl deep down under that I'm-tougher-than-you shell of hers. She is actually fiercely loyal and very caring. Of course, most people will only see that side of her if they have managed to get under her armor and become her friend. It is not always easy to achieve such a thing, due to Daniele's temperamental demeanor and I-don't-care-about-anything persona. It is actually quite hard to believe that such a tough girl can be so selfless. In fact, she loves to help others. When she was around eleven or twelve, up until she developed her ability, she volunteered a lot of her time at the local hospital and at the animal shelter. She is also the type to stand up for people, especially the weaker. She has some kind of hero complex, always wanting to save everyone. That aspect of her was only reinforced when she found out she actually had a super ability.
This also makes her a bit of a rebel – one with a cause, anyway. She stands up for her rights and those of others without a care in the world about the consequences. In fact, she really doesn't care what people think of her. She does what she wants to do when she wants to do it and does not want to know what you think of her actions or opinions. She is stubborn – when she has her mind set on something no one can change it. Of course, she is a bit of a hypocrite in that sense due to her open-mindedness. She does take in other people's opinions but does that mean she'll change her own mind? Not likely. She is perfectly fine with homosexuals, transgenders, the world of meta-humans – anything that may render others a little skeptical or hateful. Daniele is overall a good person with good values, it just takes a little time for people to get used to her personality.

History
Daniele Cooper was born on a rainy April evening in Kearney, Nebraska. She was the fourth child and only daughter of mechanic Logan Cooper and his wife Barbara Cooper. In fact, when she was born and the doctors first brought her, wrapped in a pink blanket, her mother's first words were “I'm so glad it's not another boy!” which has since turned into a joke with the Cooper clan. Nonetheless, Daniele grew up as 'one of the boys'. What else can you expect with three rough and tough older brothers? Most of her friends as a kid were also boys as she couldn't get along with most of the girls. They often teased her because she was such a tom-boy. As she grew older terms changed and she was considered as a 'lesbian' and a 'dyke' but Daniele never let the harsh words run her life.
From the time she could walk, up until her teen years, Daniele spent a lot of time with her father and brothers in her dad's auto repair shop or reading comic books. She enjoyed playing on the soccer team and even took kick-boxing classes. She never really had much in common with her studious and calm mother. Truth be told, Daniele doesn't remember her very much to this day. Barbara passed away when Daniele was only six after being sick with cancer for two years. The only memories Daniele believes to be real are the short and vague stories her brothers have told her.
In school Daniele had average grades. She was never a studious girl and honestly didn't care much about her education. She wanted to have fun with her friends and play sports instead of sitting still, something she'd never been able to do. She got in trouble a lot but most of the time her brothers took the negative attention away from her with their own mischievous ways. In general she had a good, uneventful upbringing, but everything changed in the blink of an eye when she was fourteen years old. That was when her powers manifested. She was alone at closing time in her father's auto shop when it happened – her dad was taking care of inventory in the backroom and her brothers weren't present. She was toying around with an old Chevy that had been brought in for minor repairs the day before when she accidentally made made it short-circuit... with her own bare hands.
For a few weeks these strange happenings only happened occasionally and, luckily, at times that did not threaten to out her as a meta-human. Well, unless you consider that one time when she was at a birthday party and she accidentally set the television on fire, but she figured no one actually saw her do it and it was later ruled as a freak accident. In March 2011, about a month after her first manifestation and a month before her fifteenth birthday, Daniele was in a car accident with her two eldest brothers. It was minor and no one was severely hurt but it was for that reason that Hammel found out about her and in turn she found out about Hammel. Her blood test at the hospital had apparently revealed her meta-human status and the school had been alerted.
She finished her freshman year of high school there but also took classes to learn how to control her powers. Daniele absolutely loved it there and learned to love her abilities, whereas prior to Hammel she was terrified of what she could do. Of course some fear still lingers, but she does not let it rule her life – much like anything else. Recently, fifteen year-old Dani has started her sophomore year and is looking forward to yet another year at the school.
Roleplay Example
Hunter scowled as he surveyed the manila folder that had been dropped on his desk minutes ago. He glanced at the lab technician, who seemed to wither slightly under his sharp glance. She was new – a twenty-four year-old blonde with feminine features, quite a bit of make-up and a fancy outfit under that lab coat of hers. She looked as though she could have been a cheerleader back in high school, not a science geek.
"Thank you." Hunter said tonelessly, leaning back into his chair, his body language dismissing her. At least, most of his colleagues knew the signs of dismissal after working with him for a few years. Apparently she didn't, because she just stood there like a lost puppy with her hands pressed together in front of her, eying him questioningly. "Anything else?" were his words. When she shook her head, he rolled his eyes. "Then please, feel free to leave." he told her coolly.
It was one of those days where he was in a really bad mood, perhaps because he was so caffeine deprived. He had been working non-stop these the past 48 hours to try and catch this perp but so far every lead had turned out cold... No pun intended.
You see, the thing about this case that made it so painstakingly difficult was the fact that it was evident that a Special was behind it. Apparently someone with the ability to manipulate ice. Last Saturday night a body frozen solid had been discovered in the very warm basement parking garage of a building a few streets away from the precinct. There had been trace amounts of blood that did not belong to the victim, as well as signs of struggle after the autopsy had been completed. The perp didn't seem to have registered with the government either, because he (or she) wasn't in the system according to the files he had been handed moments ago.
He was disappointed – and in need of coffee.
Rubbing the back of his neck, trying to relieve the ache in his muscles, he couldn't help but sigh. His shift was nearing its end, but hours meant nothing to him these days. He was the type that could be found working overnight and living off of caffeine for a number of days; so as he got detective Daniels – his partner – on the phone and informed him of the new evidence they'd gotten, he knew for a fact that he wouldn't be heading home until at least ten o'clock tonight. "We may have a suspect – if not then a witness. Security tape shows a man in the vicinity. Homeless, hairy... dirty looking. His hair was found on John Doe's clothes. Theodore Clarke. That's homeless guy's name." he stated gruffly, stiffing a yawn.
Theodore Clarke was a man in his late twenties with two previous convictions for assault and battery as well as drug possession. He did not look like the type to be anywhere near powerful enough to freeze a human being to death, but a lead was a lead and at this point Hunter wasn't leaving anything out. He had seen too much in his short career span to ever do that.
It was 8:32pm when Hunter left the police station, a little earlier than he would have anticipated, but then again he had been forced to leave. It seemed to be a pattern lately; his superiors finding him staring at paperwork or looking at evidence and trying to put pieces together – the only thing they could do was to kick him out, threatening his job if he didn't sleep on it. He was worth more on a full tank anyway. At first Hunter would protest, as usual, but after twenty minutes he'd find an excuse to agree.
With his gun and badge still on him, Hunter yawned again as he reached the nearest subway station at a lazy walk. By 8:52pm, the homicide detective was sitting in the near-empty subway, with an elderly woman a few feet to his left knitting, and a gruff-looking man talking on an old, battered cell phone to his right. A pregnant woman was sitting all by her lonesome self in the seat opposite his. She was eying him awkwardly.
It was only after the ride that things really heated up.
Hunter was sure his night was over. Minutes later he would find himself enjoying a scalding hot shower to relieve two days' worth of tension, only to sleeping for three or four hours before starting all over again.
Two men, a gun and a bullet decided to make things a little more complicated.
Hunter cussed as he heard the gunshot and then the sound of people screaming. He caught a glimpse of the body as it crumpled down to the ground, and then the shooter as he darted for the exit.
"Call 911!"
Hunter didn't stick around to examine the body. He wasn't a paramedic or a doctor or anything. He knew if he could do one good thing, it was what his job asked of him – catch the bad guys. So he began running.
"Out of the way! Fuck – NYPD! Hey! Don't move! NYPD!" Hunter cursed some more under his breath as he avoided colliding with a young couple. "And here I thought I was going to get to go and have a good night's sleep!" he yelled out as the shooter continued running. It was a matter of time before they reached the stairs leading to the street above. Hunter knew that in a few seconds he'd lose him to the crowd. He quickened his pace and managed to grab a hold of the guy's jacket, pulling him down with him. Hunter cursed again.
"Keeping me from my cozy bed, ripping my jeans and getting blood all over my shirt? That's a life sentence right there, buddy." he said as he pulled a pair of handcuffs from his belt. Of course he was kidding around, but not necessarily about the life-sentence thing. One thing Hunter did know was that this guy would be in custody for a little while at least.
