Name: Ariana Celestia Simone
Nicknames: Ari, Simone
Age: Now Eighteen
Orientation: Bisexual and proud
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers:Retrocognition
Ariana doesn't remember the times before she found that she had the ability to see into someone's past. It was discovered around the age of eleven when she touched her adoptive mother's hairbrush and found herself watching her adoptive mother getting ready for work that morning. Afterward, she found herself on her parents' floor, their worried eyes staring down at her while her dad had his phone at the ready to call 911. Since then, she had no control of what she could see. It would happen randomly whenever she touched some object or another, from a doorknob or a pen to a fridge. She would be forced to witness the last few people who had contact with the object and whatever it was they did. It is very exhausting on her, and the migraines that accompany it really hit her hard. Since coming to Hammel, she has been able to get a bit of control over what she sees, but she still has to be careful whenever she isn't paying attention. Two weird facts about her power is that she cannot see herself in a past event even if she touched the object last and no time passes in the present world when she looks back into past events (if she's with someone, it will seem like only a moment before she comes back with what she saw).

General Appearance:
Generally, Ariana presents herself as well-kept but a bit untidy. She is one of those people who strive for a look in between classy and a total mess. Standing at a modest five foot three, she is petite with small curves, and knows how to use them. Most describe her as almost pixie-like, but she prefers to refer to herself as ‘fun-size’. She is perfectly happy with her size, but does wish she could reach that darn top shelf where someone stashed her beloved tea.
In truth, she doesn’t really pay much attention to how her hair looks, preferring to just brush it out and let it do whatever it wants in its natural state. The reason for this is because she usually covers her hair with a good hat most of the time. The only vanity she has ever put into her hair was putting a couple of purple streaks in it when she turned fourteen.
Her eyes are a charming hazel, looking greener whenever she is happy and browner whenever she is sad. Wide and doe-like, they seem to stare straight into another person's soul. In the right light, they can even appear to be tinged gold. Feathery lashes frame her eyes, perfect for flirting or trying to get her way with a bat of a lash. She has killer puppy dog eyes whenever she wants to as well as a death glare she unleashes sometimes unpurposefully. Though most of the time, it's definitely on purpose.
She has a spattering of freckles over her cheeks that she usually covers up. Besides the occasional cover up, Ariana doesn’t usually use any make-up at all besides lip gloss. She thinks of make up as a waste of time. She leaves caking on the blush and mascara to other girls.
Boho chic is how the populace would describe her sense of fashion, though most of the clothes she wears are made by her. Fashion is not her major passion, but she considers it a fun pastime. One can usually find ripped jeans, flowing shirts, off-the-shoulder sweaters, and a multitude of scarves and necklaces in her wardrobe. Usually she just grabs the first things her hands happen upon in the morning, but she also tries to straighten it up a bit before she goes out.
Personality:
Many might call Ariana a very interesting individual. She is quirky, unique, independent, and sassy. She loves to use sarcasm as a language of its own, but she tends to truly respect her elders. Ariana is always open to giving others hugs whenever they are feeling down, and if she thinks it is a special case, she'll even offer some of her precious tea. She lives on the stage, and finds that the costumes in the theatre storage are one of the few things she likes touching, because she feels like she is experiencing her own special performance when she sees the costumes' last appearance onstage.
Her power shapes the way she is. She tends not to touch other people's objects more than she has to, because she dislikes seeing others' pasts. She thinks it is an unfair advantage, and she likes learning about other people by listening to what they say rather than simple touching an object that they touched to pick up their mannerisms. She tends to be very forgetful of times and dates, and tries to always have a watch on her just in case she finds herself lost in time. She also has spare advil in her pocket for when the migraines hit.
Being onstage is what she wants to do. Whether it is acting, which she absolutely adores doing, or singing, which is mainly just her hobby, she wants to strut her stuff under a spotlight. She finds herself more at home when she pretends to be someone else. Since joining Hammel, she has taken full advantage of their theatre department, and it isn't unusual to see her shifting through the costume racks whenever she gets bored.
When it comes to relationships, she prefers to have friends with benefits who understand her quirks rather than an actual boyfriend or girlfriend. The boyfriend/girlfriend thing tends to be too high maintenance for her, and really she just wants someone to cuddle and kiss when she gets lonely. No attachments is how she likes it. She'll care about them, and will usually be good friends with them, but won't stick to just one. It's just not her style.
In some ways, her patience is way too thin. She has major contempt for those who try too hard to cover up who they really are, which is quite hypocritical on her part. It isn't an odd thing to either see her snap at someone to tell the damn truth or randomly offer a girl a napkin, asking her to wipe the mask off her face. She has little tolerance for fakes or superficiality, but contradicts herself by putting on her own emotional facade. She hates letting others see that their words or actions hurt her.
Anyone who knows Ari knows that she is willful and pigheaded. She will do whatever it takes to get what she wants, whether it is getting the lead in the next school play or getting an A in a particularly hard class. She never gives up, even to the point of being painstakingly annoying with her determination.
Some think she spends too much time brewing tea and too less time doing her studies, but she begs to differ. Tea is one of the few ways that Ariana has cultivated to calm herself down. It's what she turns to when she needs to clear her mind to think. This habit was spawned from her birth parents. The last book they ever gave her was Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol, and because her favorite character was the Mad Hatter, she took to drinking tea like him after her parents died. She guessed it was her way to remember them, even though she has objects of theirs to remember them by whenever she wants to. She sometimes also slips into speaking in riddles, though that is a rare occurence.

History
Ariana was born in the far reaches of Maine in a small town where everyone knew everyone and the name of the town couldn't be found on a map. It was a fine life, where Ariana was doted on by the neighborhood mothers and could play in the streets with the other kids. She loved playing outside and running around in the icy waters of Maine's beachs. If only she could remember those days.
Ariana's parents were teachers, which was why they always encouraged Ari in academics. They gave her books to read and tried to teach her the subjects from a young age. She was a bright child and took to the lessons quite well, but never found any joy in them. She was always distracted, wanting to go out and play whenever she got the chance. When she turned nine, a few months before she discovered her power, they gave her a first edition of Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland. She was hooked from the first page and treasured that book from that day forward.
When she turned exactly nine and a half, her parents were killed in a car accident. They had been on their way to the big city to get something, leaving Ari at home with the other mothers. When the call came about the accident, the whole town grieved. Ariana was adopted by her next door neighbors, the Andersons, who were an elderly couple unable to have children and who had doted on her since she was born. They had always felt like her grandparents, but they would never fill the void her parents had left behind.
When Ariana discovered her power, her adoptive parents weren't quite sure what to do. They had never encountered a metahuman and didn't know how to handle it. They helped her as best as they could and tried to eleviate the strain of her power as best they could, but they were completely out of their depth. They were logical people, and this ability was out of their range of logic.
When she turned eleven, she was found by James and invited to attend Hammel Institute. She begged the Andersons to let her go. It wasn't because she disliked them or anything like that. It was because everywhere she went she had visions of her parents, and their presence haunted her everywhere she went in that small town. They agreed, and she was sent off soon afterward with Alice in Wonderland and a few of her parents' belongings in her suitcase.
Over the last six years, Ariana has made Hammel Institute her home. She discovered her talent on the stage in Hammel's theatre, she made new friends she would have never had before and she got close to many of the staff members. She finally was able to get a grasp on her gift, being able to control when she saw her visions. She loves her life, but occasionally longs for her parents whenever things get tough.
Roleplay Example
((A starting post from another site))
Laying down beneath a stray tree, the sun-glassed girl stared up at the sky above L.A., noting the different cloud shapes that formed as the wind blew across Griffith Park. The smog in the air made it hard to see at times, but the puffy white in the sky still made animal shapes, her keen eyes picking out a dog, rabbit, giraffe, even a water buffallo. A soft smile played on her lips as the sound of the merry-go-round filtered into her little world, the carnival music so familiar from her childhood. Children could be heard playing around on the painted ponies and animals, shrieks and giggles echoing through the air. Frazzled parents stood off to the side, letting their kids have free reign on the attraction. This made the operator less than happy, but they didn't pitch a fit, prefering to stay silent and just turn the machine on time and time again. This pitter patter of every day life was what kept Ari grounded, kept her from getting her head to far up the clouds that hung so tantalizingly far above her head.
Ariana's fingers dug into the grass beneath her, twisting the strands in her fingers idly as she daydreamed. Soon, very soon, she would officially be in a band. She and Aiden just needed to find two other willing contestants to join up, and they'd be all set. It couldn't be too hard; after all, if there was any place in the world filled to the brim with eager, talented musicians, it was Los Angeles. Excitement raced through her system at the thought, causing her to nearly bounce up and down with enthusiasm. Things were looking up in her world, and she couldn't wait to get things started. With the news of the band firing her up into her happy zone, the sun in the sky and the world as it should be, she couldn't help but think that it would be one of the best days of her life this day. Even if nothing at all happened, there was enough going on to keep her completely satisfied with her life. Sighing happily, she closed her eyes, humming a few notes to the song she had been working on when Aiden had popped his head into her life. It was a nice rhythm, something she could listen to and get inspired from.
