The Details
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Black/Very dark brown
Any Piercings? No
Any Tattoos? No
Any Scars? Some medical looking scars on the arms and legs that they will refuse to discuss, so don’t bring it up. Lala has a scar shaped much like a pear on her foot from when a desk was dropped on it.
General Appearance: Generally there are two kinds of identical twins: Those who choose to look exactly alike, and those who don’t. Surprisingly, this Gestalt Pair is the latter. Reese and Lala and easily distinguishable by their hairstyle and style of dress.
Reese is more upfront and practical of the pair. Her hair is cropped into two short and messy layers. Both are just long enough to be pulled into a short ponytail, but it is easily kept out of eyes during training with a headband as well. She prefers to keep it short enough to stay off of the back of her neck, so the voluminous mass usually remains wild when it is down.
Style-wise, Reese will tell you she doesn’t have one. She rarely concerns herself with fashion, but manages to pull off menswear chic fairly well. If she’s not in a tank-top and jeans, she’ll sport a white button down and suspenders. If the occasion calls, she might even wear heels, though she’ll probably just stick to her normal black steel-toes.
Lala is the more feminine side to Reese. Her hair is long, and naturally wavy. It still holds the rowdy volume that Reese’s hair does, but it tends to fall in such a way that it makes her face appear soft and natural, rather than bringing out the ferocity as it tends to do with Reese. When cleaning she will pull it into a loose bun, but she tends to leave it down so that she can hide behind it if the need be.
Fashion wise, Lala is has a modest-ness about her that Reese will occasionally disregard (cleavage, anyone?) Preferring comfortable and cute things like sundresses or shorts to Reese’s strict functionality, Lala is what Reese calls the “pretty sister.” Since both sisters rarely leave the house, Lala can usually be found barefoot or in flip-flops.
Both girls have the bronze skin and black hair of South American roots , with physiques meant for business. Since they are basically body guards, they are lean and fit (Reese slightly more so than Lala). Their limbs are long, and their angled faces most prominently feature a broad nose and full mouth.
Personality: Well isn’t this special…
Being a Gestalt Pair, Reese and Lala share a personality. Or rather, Lala is a second vessel for Reese’s personality. The gruff, stoic, and silent manner that Reese has almost always had is simply transferred into Lala. Though Lala retains certain aspect of her previous personality (mostly her love of candy), she is basically a carbon copy of Reese. That being said, Lala is a slightly faded version of Reese, like all carbon copies. She rarely speaks of her own accord, and generally just communicates Reese’s thoughts from another room. When she does speak of her own will, it is usually a short and sweet word of encouragement, thanks, or acceptance. “Yes, Gabriel.” Is the most common sentence out of her mouth.
Reese, the dominant portion of the Gestalt pair, is your average body guard. She rarely speaks, unless she is training another operative. Then she yells. And make no mistake, Reese’s bark isn’t worse than her bite. She will say (really violent) things and won’t hesitate to back them up. There isn’t a sense of bravado to her, just a simple functionality. Do the job. Do it right. If you can’t, go home. Fast.
Her protective streak is massive, and the dominating factor in her personality. If she considers you worthy of your time, you can expect to be safe from all kinds of arm. She will fight for those she projects, and do it efficiently too. Her temper though, is something to be reckoned with. When someone does manage to rile Reese beyond her usual glare and low-pitched threat, she will immediately turn to violence. Since she’s nearly inseparable from Lala, its probably dangerous to get into a fist fight with her, given her superior strength. Her ferocious temper will flare whenever someone threatens her, her sister (so by extension her) and especially Gabriel.
Reese’s protective streak does, however, come with a tender side. She enjoys nurturing those around her by cooking, and oddly enough, training others to protect themselves. Though she’s definitely a rough coach (she’ll out scream a drill sergeant, believe me), it is apparent that her brand of tough love is for your own good. She’ll reward her trainee’s with a delicious meal, if they do well, and she’s always read with a new recipe for Lala to learn. This tenderness tends to be shown most towards Lala (being that its so fun to spoil yourself).
And finally, this streak (in the case of both sisters) basically puts a giant line of caution tape around Gabe. They are unfailingly loyal to him, thanks to what they saw as a daring rescue. In fact, both sisters are absolutely convinced that their meeting Gabriel was an act of fate, and that it is their duty to protect him at all costs: not just their job, but their destiny.
On an interesting side note, Lala and Reese will occasionally refer to the other sister in the first person. For example, Reese takes a bad fall. Lala will ask Reese, “Am I hurt?” instead of “Are you hurt?” to which Reese might respond “We’re fine” or “I am fine.” And if someone is bothering Lala, Reese will demand “Leave me alone!” rather than “Leave her alone.”
Altogether, its best just to simply not cross the Degreas sisters. They’ll stay out of your way, you stay out of theirs.
Your Vices
Likes:
Marisol enjoys: Guns, food, dogs, exercise, martial arts, general violence, cooking, miscellaneous weaponry, training, and Gabe.
Lamora likes: Candy and cleaning.
Dislikes:
Marisol Despises: Hospitals, cats, birds, dirty streets, bland food, unhealthy food, orange juice with pulp, and Meta-haters.
Lala dislikes: Everything Reese dislikes. And the color purple.
Strengths:
Marisol and Lamora are both proficient in the fighting arts as well as several languages (in addition to their native tongue of Portugeuse). They have used their meta-human ability as a Gestalt Pair to compartmentalize their knowledge. Marisol has taken it upon herself to build the muscle memory necessary to practice the martial arts she and her sister know, and Lamora uses her quiet nature to study languages almost constantly.
Thanks to Marisol, both the Degreas sisters are skilled in: Judo, Karate, Sabat, and American Wrestling as well as sharp shooting with a rifle and a handgun. Marisol is also rather fond of knife work, and can skin a cat (or you, if you’re not careful) seven ways to Sunday.
On the other hand, Lamora is responsible for teaching both girls to speak Spanish, English,Japanese, Arabic and Mandarin Chinese. Both can write in Arabic, Japanese, and Chinese. Lamora has also used her brain to store up a tactical playbook that would put a warlord to shame.
In short, together, Lala and Reese’s strengths can be summed up in three words: Tactical War machine.
Weaknesses: Socializing. The Degreas sisters are synchronized to the point that they do not speak to eachother; they don’t need to. Usually they forget that its sometimes weird not to talk to anyone else. Also, their synchronicity tends to freak other people out. Occasionally Lala will say something in Portuguese at the same time Reese is saying the same thing in English, reflecting their multi-lingual brain function.
Fears: Being used. Dying.
Secret: Both sisters still have the dogtags they received when being detained by the Brazilian armed forces. They keep them under their pillows to remind them where they could be right now.
Family Ties
Father: Andres Octavio Degreas
Mother: Marguerite Ana Fidelia-Degreas

History
Once upon a time there was a place called Brazil. It was beautiful and foreigners loved it for its big parties and pretty girls. In this place called Brazil, there was a city called Recife, which was very beautiful on the outside, and very ugly on the inside. In Recife, there was much crime and poverty. In this ugly town were born two twin girls, Marisol and Lamora. They were born twins, and their parents loved them very much. So much that they worked themselves to the bone to provide for their girls, and ensure that their beautiful girls never had to struggle
for life in destitute poverty.
Father was able to get a job catering to the tourists that had destroyed their city. Mother didn’t like it, but it brought in the money so that she only had to work two jobs instead of three and so that she was able to bring home candy for her girls twice a week. And the girls could go to school, and they were very happy. Lamora was sometimes picked on for being so gentle and because she liked candy so much, so Marisol stood up for her. And when Marisol was picked on, she stood up for herself. The girls grew up together, one very quiet, and one very brash, and had it not been that they looked exactly the same, one would think they weren’t sisters at all.
But as they grew, the girls seemed to…even out. Lamora began to stand up for herself, and Marisol quieted down. It was as if the girls, who had been opposite sides of the spectrum, were beginning to meet in the middle. Marisol knew this was something different, because now she could feel what her sister was thinking when she wanted to get angry. Marisol could tell that somehow Lamora was influencing her to be calm, and Lamora felt Marisol’s presence goading her to take a stand. The girls were twelve, and knew they were starting to lose themselves as separate people.
It wasn’t until the girls were fourteen that they realized this was something special, not just a ‘twin thing.’ When the Degreas family was moving out of their flat into a new one financed by their father’s promotion, Lamora had a desk dropped on her foot, breaking several of the bones. She did not cry, but Marisol began to complain of intense foot pain. The closer the twins drew to each other, the more intense the pain became, until finally both twins began to cry. A visit to the hospital proved nothing was wrong with Marisol, but that Lamora would need to stay off of her feet for a few weeks. At a request from a curious mother (who had been watching the news on the television at her job as a waitress and become familiar with the rise of meta-humans) a blood test was given.
Mother thought that it was only Marisol who was special. That somehow she had the power to feel the pain of others. But no. It was discovered that both of the girls were special. When a strange American man came to see them, the Degreas family heard the words for the first time: “Gestalt Pair.” It wasn’t for certain, but it was possible that the Degreas twins were an even more special set of twins than they had originally imagined. Marisol and Lamora were starting to feel less and less special, as they began to feel more and more a part of each other.
Whisked away to school (and hopefully a better life) in America, Marisol and Lamora were nothing extraordinary at all. Both were very quiet, though Marisol occasionally would fight other students, realizing that her strength was multiplied greatly by the presence of her sister. Quickly their learning abilities and emotions synchronized, and Marisol found herself understand things that she was sure only Lamora knew and Lamora found herself detesting people she had never met, yet the girls still struggled to be individuals: Marisol in particular. Now going by the name Reese, the more aggressive twin hated the fact that her personality was ebbing away into an amalgamation of her and her sister. She had always been the more dominant twin, why did this power have to take that away?
Just before their graduation, when the twins were seventeen, they discovered that their parents had perished in a fatal accident. Their meager inheritance was waiting for them in Brazil.
Graduation came and went, shortly followed by the eighteenth birthday of Lala and Reese, the Gestalt Pair. A plane to Brazil and the girls were lost. What was there for them to do now? The government of Brazil, who had been keeping a close watch for the return of the two girls, knew just the thing. Enlist in the armed forces, or become a science experiment. Though the words had not come in so bluntly, Lala and Reese knew a threat when they saw one. They also knew that the armed forces may be their only way out of poverty. They enlisted at the age of eighteen.
Basic training seemed easy for the girls, who were always together, and always stronger and faster than the other recruits. There was definitely something to be gained from this “Gestalt Pair” business, in the opinion of the government. Going back on their word, the superiors of Lala and Reese asked (rather roughly) that they participate in some tests. The tests lasted two years, and Reese was fed up with running on treadmills, being fed food unfit for dogs, or with being poked, prodded, and treated like she was preserved in formaldehyde. Lamora, however, did not agree, and tried to soothe her rampaging sister, insisting that this was the best life available to them. That day, the twins were not longer at the center of the spectrum. Reese would drag Lala kicking and screaming to her end, and they would do things her way. At the age of twenty, Reese and Lala were a fully synchronized Gestalt Pair, and it was time to bust of the military compound that was holding them.
When the day came, Mother and Father in Heaven would not have recognized their little girls…only their little girl. Both twins acted as one, using the ruthless ferocity that had always characterized Reese to escape the facility. And yet…it had all seemed too easy. Guards and doctors seemed to fall at their feet, or simply step aside when threatened. Lala will even tell you she saw them smile before they fell. When they burst through the doors, dog tags still around their necks, there was an angel waiting for them.
His name was Gabriel, and he was there to help them escape. Only later would the pair learn that Gabriel had attended Hammel as well, just before them. Only later would they learn that it was his power that had helped them leave so easily. Only later would they learn what M.S.A.D. was. But right then, right there at the remote site in Brazil they pledged that they would take care of Gabriel, just like he had taken care of them.
To this day they have not broken that pledge. They live with Gabriel at his home in Pilot Ridge, and rarely leave the compound. When they do leave, and it’s not for business, they are never without another operative. If Gabe sends them out, they complete their mission and are back home in time to put dinner on the table.
And they couldn’t be happier.
