The Basics
Name: Sophie-Rosaline Marie St.John
Nicknames: Sophie
Age: 15
Orientation: Currently Asexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Sophie has the power to create illusions, similar to hallucinations, but are perceived by multiple people. She can only manipulate sight, sound, or smell, and currently only one at a time. She can make a ghostly figure disappear around a corner, or a smell of baking bread come from another room, but until she trains her skill, that image will never speak, and that scent will never lead to an illusion of her creation. Also, she can only make them appear to a few people, but more with time and practice.
Side-Effects are usually head aches after a long time of concentration, and (eventually, possibly) a sense of fear or paranoia that things around her aren't real at all, and that she is stuck in her own illusion.
Play By: Emily Browning
The Details
Hair Color: Dark reddish brown
Eye Color: Hazel
Any Piercings? Basic ear lobe
Any Tattoos? None
Any Scars?A few small scars on her arms and legs, coming from an active childhood in the forests. Most go un-noticed.
General Appearance: Sophie generally looks like she just fell out of a tree, because she probably did. Her hair is usually pulled back in a pair of ponytails or braids to keep them out of her face, but still within chewing distance. She tries desperately to keep her clothes clean and well kept, but grass stains and torn knees in her jeans are more likely to be found. Her favorite choice of clothes usually keeps it simple, with a thin hoodie, jeans, and a shirt with some sort of fairy or dragon on it, and if she can get away with it, she goes barefooted. She'll keep flip-flops in her back sack, in case she gets caught in the mall, but her calloused feet can handle most any terrain.
At 5'2, Sophie tries to look younger than a girl coming up on sixteen. Her smile is usually that of a space cadet, and the bounce in her step is a blazing torch of her cheery personality. And a description wouldn't be complete if it didn't include her doll, Amber. Amber is a ball jointed doll, about 20 inches long. Her hair is a paler version of Sophie's, and her skin is pale as well. She is the girls' companion everywhere, though often hides in Sophie's bag during classes or such.
Personality: Though she looks like most other girls her age, Sophie never acted her age, unless she had to. While her classmates were doing their make up and hair, Sophie preferred her room, or the forest behind her house. In those secluded places, she could play for hours with her dolls and her toys in little imaginary worlds. Despite her childish behavior, her imagination belied the curious young woman underneath, with re-enactments of plays, movies, or books she had read.
Living, almost constantly, in her imagination, Sophie was rarely seen without a smile on her face. The world's nasty horrors were just another story to her, and she brushed them off just as easily. However, because of this, she had few friends, and those who called her such often brushed off her peculiar nature with a simple, 'That's just Sophie.' Because they saw their youngest daughter's excentric behavior as a sign of her lurking brilliance, they doted on her endlessly, giving her anything she asked for. This led to a rather spoiled girl, but Mr. and Mrs. St.John secretly hope that the boarding school atmosphere of Hammel might undo their accidental damage.

History
Growing up in a small southern town, Sophie was a fish out of water from the start. Fascinated by stories of goblins, gnomes, and little people, she devoured every book she could find on the subject. Children's books, old fable collections, and eventually theoretical studies into their possible existence and extinction. She would spend hours in the woods behind her house, her dolls and ponies and plastic fairies acting out intricate tales of daring quests for love, honor, and defense of whatever bush was called home that day.
Sophie was a bit of a late bloomer, hitting puberty during her fifteenth summer. Shortly thereafter, Sophie began experiencing headaches for apparently no reason. Olivia, believing that her daughter might have become allergic to something in the woods, kept Sophie indoors more often. It was then that she realized what her little girl had become. Watching as Sophie played out old fables and tales, she began to see what her daughter saw. The twelve dancing princesses dancing until sunrise, Ariel's longing laments as she gazed at the shore, and the wild eyes of the nymphs who stole the prince's heart. A doctor visit later, and Sophie found a new door had opened. She could share her imagination with the world. It didn't take long for Hammel to find her, and Sophie agreed with her parents that moving away from the small town sooner, rather than later, would be best. By mid-August, she was on her way. Over the past month, Sophie has kept more or less to herself. The homesickness came and went, with her family only a phone call away, and now she is ready to make a new life for herself.
Roleplay Example
"Down by the reeds, night blooming weeds, embrace those who go dancing in sad moonlit dreams..."
Sophie leaned against warm trunk of a tree, the cuffs of her jeans turned up to the knees so that her feet could dangle into the murky water of the river. She sang to herself, and to Amber who sat safely on the shore a few feet away. Her traveling trunk was packed with her and Amber's clothes, waiting for them on the front porch back home. A month ago she couldn't have fathomed the idea of leaving home, but now that everyone knew what she was... She picked up a rock and threw it angrily at the river, where it made a satisfying plop. Her friends wanted nothing to do with her anymore. Talking to herself and playing with dolls? Oh that's just Sophie. Being able to show people a world beyond the natural? She was weird and needed to go away. Another rock made its way to the bottom of the riverbed.
The wind blew gently across her face, and she smiled up into the dappled sunlight coming down through the leaves. She didn't need them, she told herself. Her parents were proud of her, and were excited to see her at christmas to see what she would learn. Besides, Vermont couldn't be so bad, could it? Pulling herself up to the bank, she plucked Amber off the ground and brushed the pine needles off her dress before heading back home. Momma would hate to be late.
"Nobody knows, nobody sees, the Sirens of Oakvale, down by the reeds..."
