General Appearance:
Standing at an even 5 feet tall and weighing in at just under 100 pounds, Angel is a bit small even for a fourteen-year-old girl. Her thin limbs are long and relatively undefined though she doesn't particularly lack muscle mass. Soft curves are beginning to define themselves on her body, but they're impossible to see through the baggy shirts she tends to wear.
Angel's auburn hair reaches her lower back and has natural red highlights working harmoniously with beautiful brunette lows. It often hangs straight with gentle waves where her ponytail holders rest any time she wears it up. Angel's innocent face is framed by razor bladed bangs on her forehead and is often at least half covered with the lengthy mass of hair. Not that she minds this, of course; she prefers to feel like there is a curtain between her and the world.
Brilliant hazel eyes work perfectly with her sun-bronzed skin and smattering of small freckles. Full lips hide somewhat buck teeth she often tries to hide, since she's rather insecure about her appearance. Though it's not the most flattering thing in the world, the young beauty sticks to clothes that hide her as much as possible from the outside world. Her baggy shirts, straight jeans and sweatpants are often coupled with a bare, makeup-less face while she relies on her somewhat wild hair to hide her face. She has a generally ragged appearance to her on a day-to-day basis, but with some confidence and a wardrobe change Angel could be attractive once she grows into herself.
Personality:
A shy little introvert who fears her own shadow, Annie is hard to get close to. She often hides herself from the outside world and when she feels cornered or stressed, she'll teleport as far away as she can, often not caring where she ends up or how far she's gone, simply choosing to deal with the pain in her head over the awkwardness of socializing.
If she were asked to list a few things about herself she's insecure about, Angel would instead list the things she likes about herself - it would be far shorter. The teenager has very little self-esteem and even less confidence in herself, or even in people in general. She tries to be optimistic, but it's difficult when she's never had anything solid to hold onto in her short life. Being in the system and being shuffled from home to home as a child took its toll on Angel's feeling of self-worth. While she acknowledges every cloud has a silver lining, she can't stop stressing over the fact that the cloud is a very, very big one - even if it's not.
Though on the inside, under all the fear and skepticism and esteem issues is a loving, smart girl. Angel has an uncanny ability to remember things that other people don't - dates, times, faces and names, locations, things most kids don't have such an easy time with. Intelligence-wise, Angel learns at an average pace in a very average amount of time. She isn't particularly slow nor smart, she just has a thing for the specifics that borders on OCD or obsession at times.
Also, if given the chance, Annie is a very loving and dedicated soul. If anyone were to break down her barriers and get to see the girl the fear and baggy clothes hide, I'm sure they'd never find a friend like her even if they lived to be 100 years old. She appreciates life in a way that only children like her - those who have been forced to grow up quickly, who have only ever felt alone, can appreciate it. Her powers are relatively new, but her love for life and her dream of matter to someone - anyone - is burnt into her soul as deep as it goes. She has big dreams and big plans, but unless someone can manage to pull her out of her timid little shell, she's not entirely sure she'll never be able to amount to any of them.

History
On a warm June evening in the middle of Virginia, a premature newborn baby girl was left in a hospital, her drug-addicted teen mother rushing out as soon as she could walk. When the nurses realized what happened, they placed the newborn in the care of a local orphanage until her mother could be located and prosecuted. Unfortunately, the mother was never found, and the baby girl was placed in the foster care system and given the last name of a nurse in the NICU who felt especially close to the abandoned child.
At four years old, Angel was moved out of the home and into her first family. It lasted about a year, until the temporary parents gave birth to their fourth child and, unable to provide financially for all the children, returned Angel to the home. It was soon shut down due to health concerns, and each of the children was sent to an affiliating foster home to be adopted. Annie was passed out to a handful of more couples, but each time something or other would go wrong, and she would either leave and return to the home, or they would be forced to return her.
When Angel was seven, she met a boy who's parents had recently died in a car accident and had no living relatives to care for him. Liam became her first friend, and the two of them made a promise that if one were to ever be adopted, they would ensure the other would come with them. Unfortunately, the family that adopted seven-year-old Liam wasn't looking for a girl and he liked them enough he was willing to be ripped away from his best friend. Since then, Annie has had a hard time trusting anyone.
By age nine, she refused to see any potential families or even be interviewed for adoption. Her social worker and now only friend, Dianne Warren, tried her hardest to get Annie to be open to the idea. When the girl was twelve, Dianne finally convinced her to try one last family - the Harrises. While they were a good family and provided a loving home with three children of their own to play with Angel, she felt like the black sheep. It wasn't fair; this couple had other children, they didn't need her here, where she felt like she could never really fit in. She wasn't their child; they couldn't possibly love her the way they loved their own children.
Just before her fourteenth birthday, the couple found out they were pregnant with their fourth blood child. Angel was beginning to feel comfortable and like the home, so she was excited to hear she'd have a new adopted sibling to play with. However, after some number-crunching and a couple of moves to smaller homes and eventually a cramped apartment, the Harrises realized they couldn't afford to bring a baby into the world while providing for Angel. They didn't like it, but they signed her back over to the home with promises to come and visit her. They kept to their word, but Angel refused to ever see them; they'd given her back, just like everyone else.
Four months later in a fit of panic at being pushed around by an older kid, Angel closed her eyes and opened them to find herself in a different room, completely alone. Terrified, she beat on the wall and got the attention of the home's matron. After hearing Angel's explanation of what happened, the seasoned woman knew immediately what Angel was; she'd had countless children like her before. She placed a call to Hammel Institute, and Angel was on her way to the school a little less than a week later.
Roleplay Example
Nothing is as fresh as a bright blue sky.
Except, perhaps, the sunrise itself. Phantom hadn't found himself awake to enjoy the sight in such a long time, his breath was stolen by the beautiful pastel colors filling the sky. The large mastiff-pit mix lay on his stomach, paws extended forward. His large square head rested perfectly between the two, his earthy orbs watching in awe as the heat from the sun began to hit the earth and thaw what the moon had frozen. The rays of warmth and comfort hit his pelt and warmed him quickly, his typical pleasant smile crossing his maw at the feeling of the heat crawling up his spine and into his limbs. It felt so good just to let in the heat and wash the coldness of night away.
A place that had been a large part of his adolescence, the large canine spent his nights in what had once been a park, long before he was born. He didn't understand what many of the broken, rusted objects scattered in the grass were, but they'd made for some interesting snooping places until he'd learned each and every inch of the place by heart. It never ceased to amaze him how beautiful it was at points of the day, and he was thankful that he'd had such a hard time sleeping last night that he could see it now.
For a reason he couldn't quite put his paw on, Phantom had had a tough time getting comfortable enough to sleep for long last night. His joints were getting a little sore, possibly meaning a storm would be coming in the next day or two. However, the quickly brightening sky showed no sign of cloud nor rain, so the large brute decided that couldn't be the problem. Maybe he was just putting a bit of strain on them that they weren't used to. No big deal.
Shrugging it off without complaint as was habit for the sizable dog, Phantom sighed deeply, content with the beginning of his day, regardless of the sleep nagging at his eyes. It was a pleasant, beautiful morning and he would enjoy it.
A light breeze tugged at the mastiff mix's short fur and toyed with his floppy ears, wafting a strange scent toward him. Another canine was here in his resting grounds; a male, if the faint scent was correct. Curious, the larger dog pushed himself up. Tongue lolling to the side and tail giving a wag or two, Phantom set off after the scent to find the other male. He didn't really have anything in mind; maybe just to say good morning and be on his way; maybe just to look and observe the welcome intruder. Lifting his leg and relieving himself on an overgrown bush, Phantom trotted heavily toward the other dog, catching sight of him in the dim lighting.
Cocking his head curiously, he let out a deep, soft woof of greeting. "Morning," he called with his signature smile.
