[Tate Desmarais]

Hi! This is Tate, she is sixteen and a new student at Hammel. Her power is retrocognitive projection, which means she basically shows people her memories unwillingly and then loses them. (So her short-term memory is pretty shot.) It only works if you touch her skin-to-skin, but luckily she covers up pretty well. She is observant, responsible, tenacious, insecure, jealous, and kind of tactless/cruel/perverse/insecure holy hell. This is what I'm looking for:

Friends: Tate's brand new to not just Hammel, but the entire area; she grew up in the ambiguous South, where she had a pretty difficult time making friends because of a wide combination of factors, not the least of which being her frankly terrible attitude. If you can stand accidental (and, um, not accidental) insults and an appalling ability to forget what you talked about last time you met, you could possibly win yourself a loyal (or at least really excessively clingy) friend. Beware, if you get close enough she will join just about every club you're in to stay close.

Confidant: Her greatest and best friend (her mom) is back in her hometown, so Tate needs a new really best friend to tell her secrets to. Her journal tides her over, but I figure it won't be enough for always.

Enemies: Probably easier to become an enemy of Tate's than a friend, although she'd really much rather make a friend or two right now. She's standoffish, and on occasion (accidentally) cruel, so it's probably pretty easy to think she's just holding herself above you.

Love?!: Tate is a romantic asexual, which means that she is interested in having a relationship, but she is not interested in sex. Ever. Period. The thought of it is repulsive to her, so it would take a remarkable guy to stay with her. However, that doesn't mean she can't fall in love with someone who is interested in a sexual relationship--it just won't last. Because it's probably next to impossible (teenage hormones generally being what they are) this is just a "someday over the rainbow" kind of thing for Tate :|a figured I'd list it anyway.

[Mia Keystone]

Mia wants to be Tate's friend!!! She's always one to insult her own friends, and make them uncomfortable, so having someone who does it back is fantastic. Also, video games. Mia loves video games, and people she can play them with, even if she will cheat almost all the time.

She WILL most likely not get why Tate has no interest in sex, and bug her about it a lot, but appart from that I think they would get on pretty well!

Tate would love to be friends with Mia! If you care about people, you insult them, right? Except when the bothering about sex happens, then she will not want to be friends much. I have to go to bed now, or I'll explode, so I'll hit you up for Specific Details tomorrow, okay? <3 Thank you!!

Ah, there you are Roma. Tis I, Fate, from the cbox, talking like a moron for some reason (as I often do in the char ads section, because my brain shuts down). Anyways, I have a couple of chars to throw at Tate:

Izzy x Tate - should be interesting. While Izzy is the type who Tate would probably dismiss from first appearance, he's a lot deeper than he lets on. Plus, he's oddly accepting, and the type to be a good loyal friend. It would be rocky to get them started off, but I could see the two of them being an odd sort of friend.

Aisling x Tate - similar to the above, in that Aisling is likely to see past the abuse. Aisling also happens to be something of a genius and a big, floppy nerd, so there's that as well. She's a researcher, and the type to find someone like Tate incredibly fascinating.


As for my others, unless Tate is very new, she's not likely to have any reason at all to meet Recruiter Tim. Naomi is the semi-ebil, slightly genocidal student who's running around being all cold and stuff, so unless you're looking to butt heads, there's not much there. Max won't last more than four posts without touching Tate, since she touches everyone... a lot. Seems like something to avoid. But they're there too, if one strikes you as being more interesting than the two I'd put forward.

Gotta admit, when I read your bio, I was like WHOASOMANYAWESOMEWORDS. And then I got over that and thought WHOASHESAWESOME.

I don't think I'll get over THAT.

So, I present to you possible connections which hopefully would be threaded out before you become too famous on Hammel ^^

Robbie - Ain't the sharpest tool in the shed OR SO IT SEEMS. Yes, he's a cloying trope that I love to play with. They're roughly the same age so they would have had the same classes. He's actually a pretty decent dude who can handle "cruelty" pretty well. He doesn't really let anything get to him to be honest so if Tate were to ever insult him, two probabilities would occur a) he'd laugh/shrug it off or b) respond in kind, depending on his mood, really.

Ella - I thought this was a hilarious coincidence and possibly a dumb connection but Tate's her last name. *smart mode deactivated* Ella might have been her recruiter, if you so wish it. And...that's really all I can think of for them right now ^^

Haley - Essentially, this girl is a mighty huge brat but she will give as much as she takes. They could have an interesting camaraderie of sorts, dunno how we could play with that but it's a possibility. She's also looking for someone who could stand her with her walls up. Wow...I don't even know if these make sense but yeah...have at it what you will.

Jem & Tate:

Jem ... is a science nerd/ a fanfiction nerd/ a gamer nerd/disney nerd/ nerdy nerd. She's quiet but not shy around new people, and is generally quite warm and friendly. Depending on how Tate reacts to her general bubbliness means they'll either be good friends or Tate will want to punt her in the face. She is mostly pretty chill though, and if they're friends, Tate will get called GLaDOS.

Tate&Jared
Tate and Jared are roughly the same age (he’ll turn 16 this December), so I’m pretty sure they’re bound to bump into each other at one point. If I understand Tate right, Jared’s pretty much her opposite – he’s loud, flamboyant and effeminate (he insists it isn’t so, but there’s no denying the truth). He’s also likes hugging and goes a bit over the top when expressing his emotions, so I think Tate’d be pretty much pissed at him. But he’s easily amused, so once he figures out that Tate’s a girl and sees her power, he’d pretty much stick around her. So if Tate needs someone clingy (and spazzy) enough to challenge her own clinginess, well, Jared’s a good contender. XD.

Tate&Romeo
Like Tate, Romeo’s sixteen and just came into Hammel a few months ago, so they can pretty much have newbie adventures together. Her sharp tongue isn’t really a problem too; Romeo can and will exchange ‘blows’ with her should he deem it fit. So friends? I also have this crazy idea: I’m not sure how exactly Tate’s powers work, but Romeo’s involve turning his skin into metal (think Colossus from XMen) so I was thinking something along the lines of her being able to ‘touch’ him without activating her power. Idk. It seems cool in my head. Haha. My bad. (He does tend to rip his clothes when he transforms, but let’s get to that next time. XD).

Yeah. Rambly. My bad. Anyway, I have three more characters – Zac (vain, arrogant and douchebag richboy who can act as one of Tate’s bullies if you want), Ethan (non-powered local kid whose family are all-powered; can help show Tate around town, maybe) and Mason (teacher; would happily help Tate adjust, if she needs someone older to guide her) – but I just put those two in because they’re the ones shouting loudly and they’re closest to Tate’s age. Izzy && Tate - I am all for rocky starts to friendships! They can bond over their issues with time, and also video games--are there any specific ones he plays, maybe they could strike up a conversation??--although Tate's retrocognitive so they have a bit of a different bent with time.

Aisling && Tate - I think Tate would be more than a little self-conscious at the idea of having to carry on a conversation herself--she's a nervous talker!--but I also think that it'd be a fun RP to have! Tate is basically awkward city anyway = o= Population of one more won't hurt her.

Re: Tim, Tate actually is pretty new! The date I've given in RPs is "as of two weeks ago," one of her teachers turned her in 8| <3 So it's entirely possible he did recruit her.

Robbie && Tate - Tate's really, really new--they're of similar ages so maybe they have the same classes now that she's here and share a project? Ooooorrrrr something like that; if he wasn't all closety about his reading i would say MINI READING CLUB, SHERLOCK HOLMES ALL THE TIME but his bio says he does not want people to know so maybe the project thing. I do think they could be good friends!!

Ella && Tate - Tate bros. That is basically how it works.

Haley && Tate - I think Tate would be a little more uncomfortable with Haley just because of her age, but I think that they could possibly get along. Tate doodles, if you wanted her to awkwardly peek in on something Haley's sketching? I have no idea. Tate's generally a good role model, I guess, as long as you aren't looking for a role model in the bad way :V and don't mind being socially awkward forever.

Jem && Tate - Tate would be really interested in what Jem has learned through her power experiments I think. She'd be happy to share knowledge any time :V and of course, if gamer nerds and disney nerds overlap, Tate's probably put every PS2 iteration of Kingdom Hearts through the wringer. (Tate would also be thrilled to be nicknamed GLaDOS.) SO TL;DR--YES PLEASE.

Jared && Tate - She turns 17 this december!! So they're exactly a year apart, that is awesome. She doesn't see what's so amusing about her sex and power, though haha, I kid. I'd be pretty happy to have them meet, and Tate being surrounded by more social people is her default mode of widening her circle of acquaintances, so this could work out well!

Romeo && Tate - I think that'd pretty much stop her power, yeah! In my head, it's the actual physical contact that causes the memory transfer and subsequent loss (fuzzy words about bio-electricity here) so metal skin would stop it. SHE DOES NOT WANT TO GO CAMPING, but they can chat about King Arthur and mathematics and string quartets. She would offer to try to teach him some technologies, but it doesn't seem like that would go well =(

Actually, turns out that Tim and Ella are besties, so it's possible that both of them would have been there or involved. Or something. My brain's barely functioning right now (which makes typing this a stupid move on my part).

Also, there's a thread right now with Aisling and Robbie in the library. Tate could probably slide in there and meet both of them. They're currently surrounded by books and Robbie's not exactly quiet, so that way, you could get threading with two chars. That's assuming it's okay with Nu.

Izzy wound up being more music than video games. He's more into racing games than anything else (because they're non-violent, fast, and don't require him to think too hard). From the sounds of it, Tate's appreciation in games runs closer to Max's (who is also a nerd, and likely to ambush Tate at some point. It's gonna happen; I can see it). He's much more of a music-nerd than anything else.

I'm even worse at this than Jam and Fate combined, so I apologize in advance for how little sense things might make. xD


Jez ++ Tate
So Jezebel has this thing where she talks to people whether they want her there or not. She doesn't get subtle hints, and when someone outright insults her and tells her to go, she either doesn't understand (English isn't her first language, and she's not exactly great at it) or she completely ignores their wishes and follows them around when they try to get away. And her being eleven, she's a little ball of energy. So Tate would be very exhausted/angry/irritated before Jez decided it was time to go skip off and look for rabbit holes to climb down.

Did I mention she thinks the world is like Alice in Wonderland? And she won't hesitate to use JezLogic, which is the most confusing thing ever.


Aaaaand I can't think of much else. There's Dani, but I have too much going with her and too little going with my other characters, so I'd rather stick to them for now. If you want, you can drop by my Plot thingy and see what you can come up with. I'm seriously up for anything!
