As these things often do, it all started with daddy. At a somewhat early age, Tanner's mother, Rose, passed away. Leukemia and a weak immune system were the typically bright woman's undoing. While the death took a great toll on Cooper, the father, it was Tanner who got hit the hardest because he lost both parents in one. After the death of his wife, Cooper became very distant to his remaining family. The owner of a large oil refining company he had plenty of excuses to jet off to who knows where leaving his small sons in the care of the help. At first he would leave presents regularly, but as the boys grew he stopped doing that as well and simply gave them their own bank accounts and credit cards where were filled to the brim with cash to be burned.
Through all of this hardship, Tanner didn't stop caring for one person more than all other things living or dead, except his mother. His little brother, Craven. The child was somewhat of a weakling himself having inherited their mother's poor physique Tanner was often protecting the boy from everyday school yard bullies. Though this pattern was not the best, it soon became the usual for the brothers.
That is to say, until the daughter of one of the maids came into the picture. Gia was closer to Craven's age and the two seemed to have somewhat of a childhood romance. This aggravated Tanner to no end. He'd lost his mother and father within days of one another. There was no chance he was going to let his brother slip away too. He countered every one of Gia's attempts to steal the attention of Craven with cruel pranks that somtimes got him into trouble. It was worth every moment he spent locked in the solitary confines of his room if it could keep his brother from leaving him.
Just before his birthday, he first started having visions. He kepted them to himself for a good couple of weeks, making everyone believe he was just becoming prone to headaches, which he was. After every episode the young Tanner would fall pray to hearty migraines which often caused him to simply pass out.
Shortly after said birthday, his thirteenth, he was hauled off to Hammel. He's finally lost all hope of having his family with him, only in a much different way than he's originally anticipated. It was him who was leaving, not Craven. That is to say, until a couple years later when little brother would join him at Hammel. The truly unfortunate part of that would most likely be that the time between Tanner's arrival at Hammel and Craven's was just enough time for Tanner to settle into a self-destructive pattern of boozing, beating, and banging that has persisted to this day.Behind the M A S K . . .Name: Bre/BreBre/You With The Face And The Purple Hair

The twelve-year-old Tanner had been playing with his younger brother, Tanner quietly while they're nany read a book. However, the steam from Gigi's coffee had caught the boy's soft blue eyes and he'd become intensely focused on the way the soft grey smoke swirled and billowed from the white mug.
"Tanner... What's wrong?"It was Craven's voice, but it sounded so far away.
His younger brother reached out a small confident hand and touched him on the forearm as if to shake him from sleep. However, Tanner was as far from sleeping as it could get. A whole word was flashing before his eyes, it was all very fast and mostly out of focus. He saw wild horses running some of which he recognized from the family trip to Montana three years ago. There was a merry-go-round and the image of Mommy and Father cuddling as Mommy sat on a plastic white horse and Father stood beside her like an escort. He didn't recognize that picture. There were others that were far too blury to tell what they were.
Craven moved his hand and the world became normal again, though Tanner felt like he was going to be sick. There was a massive aching in his head and he could hear the tump of his own heartbeat. Then, he passed out with the the sound of Craven crying as his last memory.
