Play By: Gwilym LansleyLet it F L O W . . .The first time Anubis stole something, he was only six years old. His little sister, Sakhmet, had just received a huge 100-count box of crayons and he wanted it. Bad. So he sat quietly chewing his lip while she colored, hardly blinking as he waited for her to leave them unattended. When she finally did, he hurriedly snatched the box and hid it under his bed, grinning at his job well done.
Sakhmet never saw that box of crayons again.

The tenth time Anubis stole something, he was eight years old. While helping his brother Ra do the laundry, the buttons from one of Sett’s shirts caught his attention. Later, when he was scooping the clothes out of the dryer, he hastily pulled the buttons off the shirt and stowed them in his pocket before neatly folding the shirt and putting it in the basket.
Sett didn’t notice until a couple days later.

The thirty-second time Anubis stole something was also the first time he got caught. At eleven years old, finally settled down in his family’s Somerset home and enrolled in the local public school, he was caught trying to smuggle the teacher’s shiny red stapler off her desk.
“Mr. Richmond, what are you doing?” Mrs. Hammond’s voice surprised him and he jumped a little. She was looking down at him, her arms crossed and a creepy vulture-like expression on her face.
“It’s… mine?” Young Anubis ventured, looking much like a deer in headlights. The stapler was cradled safely in his arms.
“No, it isn’t. Put it back.” Anubis did as he was told, his fingers twitching as he pulled them away from the stapler and reluctantly went back to his seat.
Two weeks later, he swiped it when they had a substitute. Mrs. Hammond had her suspicions, but no proof.

The forty-ninth time Anubis stole something was when he discovered that he was just like his older siblings. Thirteen years old and on his first date with a girl named Melissa (she liked his odd name, he liked her long golden hair), they were sitting in the middle row of the theatre. The sparkly bracelet that she wore held his attention more than the movie and he covered his theft up by acting as if he wanted to hold her hand.
Deftly unclasping the bracelet, he let it drop into his other hand, but before he was able to safely store it in the pocket of his jeans his hand started to tingle. In the dark of the theatre, he couldn’t tell what was happening, but that didn’t stop him from trying. His hand grew warmer and warmer to the point that it was uncomfortable before he stashed it in his pocket. Needless to say, he wasn’t very focused on the movie or Melissa after that. That may explain why she didn’t want a second date.
Later that night, Anubis nearly tackled Ra and shoved the offending bracelet in his face. He was frantic as he tried to explain what had happened, how the bracelet wasn’t gold when he took it, but it was gold now. Ra seemed confused, which was no doubt owed to the rate at which the words were flying out of Anu’s mouth, so he went for a more direct approach. Pulling Ra’s watch off his wrist (rather forcefully, I might add), he cupped it in his hands and focused as hard as he could.
For the longest time, nothing happened. Each of Ra’s attempts to take his watch back were met with a slap to the hand and a “Quit! It’ll work!” But still nothing happened. Just as he was about to give up, he felt that tingling start in his fingers, then race all the way down into his hands. The frame of the watch began to change as the heat grew in his hands and he dropped it when it was too painful to hold anymore.
Ra finally understood and a week later, Anubis was packed and headed off to Kocher.

The sixty-fifth time Anubis stole something, he was living in the dorms at Kocher. One of his roommates had just bought a pink Disney princess toothbrush… that sparkled. Before she could even take it out of the package, it had miraculously disappeared. Things had a habit of doing so around the dorm, but Anubis had always kept his door shut.
If he didn’t, they would have seen the pile of stolen goods stowed in the corner like a dragon’s treasure.

The one hundred tenth time Anubis stole something, a crowbar from his friend’s garage, he was coming to the end of his stay at Kocher. During the four years that he’d studied there, he had finally grown into himself. Much to the surprise of his family, who had known him as a rather spastic child and teenager, he had proven himself to be quite the smart young man. He’d earned high marks in all of his classes, improved vastly with the control of his ability, and even managed to hold a job for almost a year!
Among his obsessions with office supplies, namely staplers and pens, he also developed an interest in fashion. Owed, most likely, to his employment at a high-end men’s clothing store. His personal style generally revolves around his extensive collection of vests and ties, some of which may or may not be stolen.
Influence from his older brother, Sett, also led Anubis to become fluent in sarcasm. Snarky and blunt to a fault, Anubis doesn’t bother to think through the consequences of his actions. And most of the time, he doesn’t care. Unless, of course, his family is involved.
But no matter how clever he was, his kleptomania has always been a problem. Though his siblings all know about it, it’s something that Anu refuses to admit. As much as he enjoys the process and the thrill of stealing something, he’s embarrassed by it just as much. Embarrassed that he can’t control it, embarrassed that the sight of something that he wants is enough to completely ruin his entire day.

The one hundred fifty seventh time that Anubis stole something was the day that he found out about Horus’ problems. When Sett and Sakhmet decided they were going to visit, Anu begged and pleaded until they allowed him to come too. He was close with all of his siblings, but he had always had a special fondness for his “Baby Bubba.”
So now it’s time to pack up and move to the United States. He’s never been before, so he’s excited and ready, but the real question is if Hammel is ready for him.Behind the M A S K . . .Name: Rae, suckaaahs.
