Danger is often attracted to Sevanna due to her ability to adapt to life-threatening situations. She seems to always find herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, whether it involves a tree branch breaking and falling just as she is walking by or getting stranded in the woods on one of her back-packing adventures. But with years of practice, she has become quite aware of her surroundings and is an expert at sensing a death-threat before it happens. Her body is always prepared.
"It's going to be something stupid." Sevanna said to a friend once about the day she actually dies. "Something no one would ever think of will end up killing me. Just wait."
Sevanna speaks with a clear and obviously American accent, even though she looks like a native of Korea. Her features are prominently Asian, expressing dark brown eyes, long rich brunette-black hair, and a dusty brown tan.
"I have never visited Korea before. I was actually adopted. I grew up with a nice family in Colorado." She smiles every time a person asks."People would point it out when we went out to eat. I stopped growing in the ninth grade and I looked nothing like the rest of the family, who are pale and tall."
Because of her ability, Sevanna enjoys staying active and keeping herself in shape. She loves to play a variety sports including basketball and football. "It helps." She says. "Even though my body alters itself to my needs, keeping physically fit really heightens my gift. It also feels, natural. Some students have questioned whether or not my power makes me play better-I guess I'm just that good at sports."
When we asked her why she became an English teacher, her face fell just slightly, then she seemed to become extremely animated. "Well, I love kids of all ages! Yeah, some of my students have said I can be mean at times, but from what I was told, they learn a lot and have fun! Which is what I like to aim for, I always hated sitting in a classroom in high school where the teachers don't care and the days dragged on. Bor-ing!" She does a little hand flip, grinning. "I have always wanted children of my own, but as you can see, there is no ring on this finger. So I treat my students as if they were my own. And as for the reason I chose English? I really don't know. I like to write, so that might be it." Sevanna finished, her hands trembling. But she quickly gained composure of herself.
We didn't press on, instead we moved to a different subject. "My biggest pet peeve? Oh, um, wow. That would have to be the wet rings on a table that drinks leave! I can't stand it when people don't use coasters! It drives me bonkers!" Sevanna laughs. "I can be a bit of a neat freak."
There is a slight moment of silence and we take in her outfit. Faded jeans, her hair pulled up in a sloppy bun, her top ruffled at the neck line and a deep crimson red color. Sevanna's black, pointed, boots peak out from under her jeans. Her eyelids are painted a smoky grey, her lips a glossy clear, and silver earrings dangle on each side of her head, holding tiny red jewels. We clear our throats, asking her if there is anything else she would like to tell us about herself, noting how laid-back and easy-going she appears to be.
"Erm, I like to drink my coffee black, weird I know. I have two white identical twin cats at home named Hammy and Cheese. I don't like it when students are late to my class, and they hate it when I give them detention for it. Hmm. Oh! And even though I'm an English teacher, I can't spell." Sevanna chuckles. "And that's about it, if you want to know anything else you'll have to spend time with me, and let me get to know you better."Behind the M A S K . . .

Her brown eyes widened slightly, adjusting to the darkness of the winter evening. She could see farther now, and make out the outlines of local buildings up ahead. Her nostrils flared, taking in the aroma of smoke and car exhaust. And when Sevanna felt the cold rush of adrenaline in her fingertips, her body and mind knew that danger was approaching quickly.
Her legs automatically began to take larger, faster, strides as she walked. As she turned the corner she ended up at a graceful jogging pace. Puffs of breath escaped her mouth, slow and steady. It would be ages before Sevanna began to tire, however, the sound of someone behind her made her body grow tense and ready for a fight.
An icy hand suddenly wrapped around her neck, jerking her backward. Her body had expected this and so before Sevanna even realized what she was doing, her fist was punching the man’s nose in, and her leg was aiming backwards for his crotch.
He fell to his knees, taking Sevanna with him. Blood trickled down his face as he cried out and the two wrestled on the sidewalk. Inhuman instinct had her reaching for his eyes, to gouge them out, using her free hand to take him by the throat. The mugger repeatedly hit in her stomach, but it was no use. She could barely feel it. He was choking, gasping for air, and screaming at the same time. His fingers shook as he dug in his pocket for his blade.
The light of a nearby streetlight gleamed off the metal just as he was about to stab Sevanna. It gave him away. Again her body twisted, and in one instant move, she had him on his stomach with his hands behind his back and the blade between her own teeth. Sevanna spat out the blade behind them before leaning down to speak in the attackers ear.
“Don’t underestimate a woman.” Then, with the palm of her hand, she pressed a sensitive spot on the back of his neck, and he passed out temporarily.
Sevanna decided that it would be safer for the rest of the town if this man was locked up, so she lifted the man over her shoulders and carried him two blocks to the police station. It wasn’t that difficult, considering her body made strength adjustments as well as combat abilities.
“Gotta love having a gift like mine.” She sighed plainly.
