Sugar cookies and Biscotti| Felicity

Basil was getting older, and as he did his sweet tooth seemed to be getting stronger. He wasn't sure if it was related to the amount of sun he was [or wasn't] getting, but the need for sugar had grown, especially since there had been a few cold days recently. He wasn't sure where exactly he had been when he had first tasted some baked goods made by the new bakery person in town, but he had instantly fallen in love. The cookies he had eaten were large chocolate chip, and he had immediately asked where they had been bought. Once he had the address it was upto his [minimal] computer skills and map reading to get him to the lovely house just on the edges of town. It really was a wonderful place and he loved the look of it.

And there were roses. Whoever lived there had pretty much just garnered his eternal love. Sweets and roses. The plants were all very happy and their mews and musical whistles were all of the utmost content. They wanted for nothing, and he was glad. Gardens such as this could easily turn sour and let weeds grow unmercifully. He didn't see that happening here. Basil went around the white fence to the door that had the sign to enter, and knocked politely. Basil had infinite amounts of patience, and was willing to wait for whoever it was that made such wonderful sugary delights.

The sounds of an orchestra filled Felicity's kitchen, along with the aroma of so many sweet, delicious things. The woman was twirling about her kitchen, humming along with the piano while she slid a fresh batch of cookies into the top oven and pulled out tray of cupcakes from the bottom. She slid the pan onto a cooling rack and bumped the oven door closed with her hip.

Felicity loved to dance and sing while she worked, it always seemed to make the day go faster, and Merlin loved laying by the radio. Feli figured it had something to do with the warmth and vibration. She was in the middle of mixing colored batches of frosting when she heard the knock on the door over the music. Quickly she snatched up the remote and turned the volume down (which displeased Merlin, he lifted his head and gave an undignified mewl), and wiped her hands off on her floral print apron. "Coming!" She shouted, arranging everything neatly on the counter.

"Good afternoon!" She beamed as she pulled open the door, letting the man inside. She was unaware of the smudge of flour on her cheek as she gestured into her kitchen. "My name is Felicity, how can I help you?" Merlin piped up again, meowing at the foreign man, but far too lazy to leave his perch in front of the radio.

When the door opened Basil was slightly surprised by the woman standing there. She seemed to be in a very good mood. He noticed she had some flour on her face, and guessed that at the moment she must have been in the middle of making some food. Well, that was wonderful. Her house smelled of baked goods, the lingering sugary scent divine. He couldn't help but be impressed by this wonderful place. Behind her there was a meow, a cat saying something from over by the radio. He didn't seem inclined to get up, and Basil could understand. He knew the ways of cats, seeing as he had three of them wandering around his own home.

" Hello Miss Felicity." he replied in his jovial, deepish voice. " I was wondering if I could order some cookies and things from you. I was somewhere in town the other day and happened to have eaten something you made that was just wonderful. I had to come and get more." He didn't admit it, but the man had a bit...okay, a really big sweet tooth and couldn't always find the right kind of baked goods or candy to satisfy said sweet tooth. That's why he was excited he had found someone who's baking was so wonderful.
