Classes didn’t start until later today, which was absolutely okay with her. Stretching as she made her way into the kitchen, the college student yawned tiredly, eyes peeking towards the windows as morning light streamed in through the sliding glass door that led out to her balcony. It seemed a crime to have a class on Saturday, but she had to if she wanted to pursue photography in her education.
Her parents didn’t know, and it was best to keep those things on days they’d least expect. She hated keeping things from her parents, but honestly, they’d feel disappointed if they ever found out that she was going behind their backs to pursue a career they never wanted for her. She’d show them someday, but until then, she had to keep her true studies a secret. Which meant busting her butt in law school at the same time.
Shaking the sleep from her eyes, Madi stumbled over to the coffee machine, happy to see that a fresh pot had been brewed right on schedule for her. She poured herself a mug, taking a couple swallows as she let the caffeine soak into her system. The poor girl really needed a good pick-me-up after a long night of studying for her French class. Even taking law, she needed to do basic studies.
She hadn’t gotten foreign language out of the way in an AP course during high school, so she’d chosen to take French. It was a nice language, even if a bit challenging. She was better at Spanish, but she’d wanted to challenge herself. How silly. Now she was loaded with language she had no idea about. At least she was a quick study, or she’d have dropped the class by now.
She poured a bowl of cereal, crunching thoughtfully as she plucked her camera off the table, turning it on. She flipped through the last few pictures she’d taken, content that they’d be a good addition to her portfolio. Her eyes darted out towards the balcony, her eyes thoughtful. Maybe a few close up flower pics would be a good addition. She’d already done a few of her bonsai, but the daisies and snap dragons were looking pretty good still.
Slurping down the last of the milk, she set the plate in the sink, putting the camera strap around her neck as she ventured out onto her balcony in her pajamas, a tanktop an a loose pair of plaid pajama bottoms. She wasn’t going out for a bit, so she didn’t care that she looked a bit shabby, her blonde curls in a bit of a disarray from her fingers stroking through them when she thought. Padding up to her flowerpots, her fingers played with a few adjustments on her camera, making sure she had it just right before she put the lens to her eye, getting up nice and close to a daisy.
Smiling, she focused the camera a bit more, getting the right angle before she snapped a picture, happy with the result. Just a few more, then she’d download it and print it all up. These would be perfect, she just knew it. Madi knew a got shot when she took it.
