Just Fly By (Cristobal.)

Releasing his grip on the magazine as it was taken from him, Odion couldn’t help but hold his smile. He took note of the blush on the brunette’s face, but didn’t speak. Instead of answering his roommate, he took the opportunity to look around the boy’s room. It was nothing special. A computer, a desk, stuff lying around everywhere, and a bed. He was a time manipulator, and felt he had all the time in the world to get to Cristobal’s question.

“Instead of accusing me,” he said, his eyes finally meeting the others, “you should be thanking me.” Odion gestured towards the kitchen in plain view over his shoulder. His eyes never left the pair of ice blue ones. “You left that smut on the dining table, why would I go through your stuff?” He asked, his Irish accent coming through a bit this time. His arms were still crossed in front of him, and after he spoke, he glanced down, his smile widening. This was the reason why Odion liked to keep eye contact when speaking to others. This is what he received for being generous.

“Never mind. I’m sorry for bothering you, Cristobal,” he said, trying to keep the laughter from seeping into his voice as he looked at the other boy in the eye once more. He took a step back from the door, his hands going to the pockets in his black slacks. Bad timing, Odion thought to himself, scratching the back of his neck, waiting for the other boy to simply close the door and get back to... business.

“Odion,” he said simply, keeping his hands in his pockets. He thought about being polite and reaching out his hand but there was no chance in hell that he would be touching Cristobal’s hands. Ever. At least the other boy had thanked him, and that meant he could leave now. He really wanted to leave, and was about to turn away, but Cris kept talking, so Odi would indulge him.

This time around, Odion laughed out loud. “Turning to the side isn’t going to help you,” he said, his dark eyes flicking down to his roommates nether regions once more. A side profile with an erection, didn’t hide it, it just made things worse. Next, Cristobal’s messy room stabbed him in the back and restarted his previous session, making Odi laugh more. This was proving to be entertaining. Cris was never going to live this one down. Odion made notes of the boy in his head: porn addict, moron, and a liar.

Leaning in the doorframe once more, Odion sort of felt bad for the other boy. He looked so defeated. Calming down his laughter, he sighed, his eyes sparkly. Cris had definitely made his day. “I like you,” he said simply, a cheeky grin on his face. He hadn’t planned on liking this guy, but he was starting to grow on the time manipulator. “So why did they bring you here?” He asked, deciding now that maybe getting to know his roommates would prove to be more of an asset than a burden.

Odion hadn’t a clue as to the effects he was having on Cris, since he wasn’t a mind reader, nor was he particularly keen when it came to who was and wasn’t attracted to him. He tried to be charming and polite to everyone, but that didn’t mean he knew who he was seducing, and who he wasn’t. All in all, he wasn’t trying to seduce his roommate, that’s what the porn was for.

The whole thing was just amusing to the ginger as he watched Cristobal manoeuvre around the room, unsure of himself. Odion rolled his eyes, he knew every teen here was a metahuman, that’s not what he was referring to. But then the other boy actually answered his question and the annoyed look on Odi’s face passed. The ginger listened carefully, wondering how a power like that could come in handy. “I guess when everyone dies from chemicals in the air, you’ll be the only one alive,” he said, thinking of Cris as a kind of cockroach.

Odi didn’t really like just standing in the doorway, but it seemed that Cris wasn’t about to move around with his... problem. The ginger wasn’t sure how he would live without his occasional alcohol consumption, life would seem unbearable without the necessary escape, but apparently the brunette did feel certain things. “I assume you already know my power,” he said, not willing to share unless he was asked, and even then, he might not share. He liked playing games and dancing around things when meeting new people, and his roommate would be one of them.

Smirking, Odion chuckled a bit. “Right, big and bad,” he said, watching the other boy check his phone. Why not? It wasn’t like he had much to lose by having others think this about him. He was never one to really care about what others thought of him, maybe that’s why he wasn’t very perceptive at this moment. He felt his stomach grumbling again, and he stood up a little straighter. “Well, it was nice meeting you I guess,” he said, taking a couple steps back, “breakfast is calling.” He offered a quick, forced smile, before turning his back on the other young man.

If he wanted to come, Odion supposed he wouldn’t stop him, but he seemed to have his hands full.

Odion reached into his pants pocket and took out his own phone, still in the common living area of his and Cris’ dorm. Nothing. No texts from anyone, not that he minded, just that he was wondering why he kept on paying a monthly fee for something he barely used. Probably for Rhett’s sake. Yes, that must’ve been it.

He looked back at his roommate, a final wave being given as he was just about to leave the room. Last chance.

Trench coat? Moccasins? Where was this guy from, the deep south? Odion nodded once as Cris invited himself along for breakfast. The ginger watched the boy finish his ensemble, before being dragged out the door. He chuckled to himself. Cristobal was definitely a very unique person, someone Odi couldn’t quite put his finger on.

It wasn’t until they were outside that Cris released his roommate, and Odion regretted not bringing some kind of jacket. At least he had long sleeves. His blue eyes darted to the other boy’s. No one really called him that, not even Rhett. Odion wasn’t sure how he felt about that, so he just decided to let it slide. “I don’t have a story,” he said, although his accent betrayed him. Everyone had a story, and Odi’s was quite an interesting one. That didn’t mean he was about to indulge Cristobal. Nor was the ginger interested in hearing the other boy’s story. This wasn’t story time, period. Cris would soon learn that Odion wasn’t exactly the friendliest of persons, but he could be quite loyal to those he found... interesting.

Odi noticed Cris struggling under the weight of his textbooks. What part of going for breakfast did he not understand? “Well we’re definitely not going to the library,” he said with a cocky smirk, offering absolutely no aid to the other boy. He hadn’t been the one to bring books with him.

“I was thinking the cafeteria,” Odion said, raising an eyebrow at Cris, wondering if he had something else in mind. If he did, he should speak now or forever hold his peace. “Is that okay?” He asked, just to make sure, trying to be nice, taking into account the other boy’s opinion. Odi could be considerate when he wanted to be, but not always.

In a matter of moments, the two boys were standing in line for breakfast, an array of other people already there. It was about ten o’clock, so Odion didn’t really expect the cafeteria to be empty. He watched Cristobal get his breakfast, and an extra set of utensils, and sit down with his mass amount of books. The redhead smiled softly, taking a try and filling a plate with a few pancakes as well. At least the brunette would be doing more studying than talking if he had brought his books along, right?

Sauntering over to their table, Odion sat across from his roommate, setting his tray down. “Oh, I forgot something to drink,” he said, standing up again, cutting into the line to get a carton of milk. He received a few stares for doing so, but people were usually grumpy in the morning and the ginger could care less. He was just as metahuman as everyone else around here. Sitting down again, the boy reached to get his cutlery which Cris had so thoughtfully gotten for him. He brushed the other boys hand momentarily, but was soon unwrapping the spork and driving it into his pancakes.

“What are you studying for?” He said in a sharp tone, eating a bit of his food. Odion wasn’t really interested in the subject matter, he was curious as to why Cristobal was studying at all. They were in high school, and it really wasn’t that hard to get through. A little golden shovel here, a little charm there, and every prof was eating bullshit right out of the palm of his hand. Odion had no aspirations to continue his education after high school. He had made it in life without an education before, and he would gladly live his life in the same fashion.
