Good While It Lasted (Open.)

Therru felt a little harried as she came into the cafeteria for breakfast. Usually she was there so much earlier to avoid the crowds and find her window seat. Since it was becoming so much warmer out she was in the cafeteria every morning. The thinnish girl grabbed herself a raspberry muffin and an apple, trying to find something good to drink. There was some new organic fizzy drink which she decided to try since she so rarely ever drank pop of any kind. It was a birchwood flavor, which she guessed would taste something akin to ginger ale. Once she had paid she looked over across to where she usually sat.

Much to her urprise there was someone there, which worried her slightly. She checked her outfit to make sure she at least looked presentable, an started over. A few of the people she talked to said she needed to reach out more, which was true she supposed. It couldn't hurt anyway, could it? I think there is only one way to know the answer to that she mused silently. So breakfast in hand she started across.

The area was sunny like she liked, and she smiled a sort of shy smile. Her hair was up, she she couldn't hide behind it like she usually would. The boy looked sort of glum, the faraway look plastered on his face very familiar to her.
" May I join you?" Therru asked him, trying not to startle him.

She nodded and sat down, settling her things on the table and pulling out her sketchbook. Just a touch of a drawing before class would be good for her today. He said he wasn't much for company. She didn't mind that, because usually she wasn't the best of company either. Quiet, liking to observe. But she thought he seemed okay, not like some of the people she had met here. Therru brought out a pencil, thinking of what to sketch.

" It's alright, as I am not usually the easiest of company to converse with." She hadn't meant to sound stuck up, but that's how it rung in her ears. Of course, most things rung that way for her because of how she was taught. And her slight canadian accent wasn't much of a help either. The girl looked over at him for a moment, seeing the way the light sort of landed on hs face. Maybe she could draw him for he morning sketch?

" I'm Therru." she said to him, trying to ease the silence between them. He seemed very, very upset about something, a feeling she could most certainly sympathize with. Maybe...just maybe he needed someone to bring him back from wherever his mind was. She hadn't had that in the beginning, and reflecting on it she thought that it might have helped.

" Here," she said, holding the raspberry muffin out with a smile. He probably wasn't hungry [she hadn't ever been] but his body would still want food. Maybe this is how friendships begin she allowed herself the smallest hint of that thought, and maybe hope.
