Prettying Up The Town [Open]

Odion was taking his time walking through the streets of Downtown Pilot Ridge. It was pretty late out, and the boy knew he was out past curfew, but that didn't stop him from trying his best to break every rule without being caught. One of the many advantages of slowing down time, was being able to sneak back into the school without being noticed later on.

The young man had basically grown up in the streets, and while the worst thing he had ever done was pickpocketed a diamond encrusted flask, it had only been the worst thing because it was worth so much. When he had pawned it off later, the cash he received made the flask one of the best things he had taken in his life. Other than sentimental things, such as engagement rings and other such trinkets.

In any case, it didn't surprise him to find a little boy spray painting the back of a department store building. A smirk crossed Odion's face, as he wasn't sure what had drawn him here. Perhaps the sound of the spray can as it bled it's neon hue all over the wall in a large 'H'. He had been standing there, watching the younger boy in front of him work their magic. "Your technique doesn't come close to rivaling with the size of your letters," he said to him quietly. Odion was no expert, but he'd seen graffiti before, and it usually didn't look like what the younger kid was trying to do.

Odion came face to face with the nozzle of the spray gun and his smile faded. Not due to the paint can, due to the fact that who he thought had been a young boy, was actually a little girl. His smile returned almost immediately. This was even cuter than he initially thought. The red head nodded at the explanation, surveying the blank wall which belonged to the building. Odi glanced at the little girl again, deciding that she wasn’t someone he needed to impress or worry about in general.

“Let me guess, ‘H’ for Hammel?” He asked, an eyebrow raised in amusement. Odion wasn’t really sure if the girl would go to the same school he did, but he was usually pretty accurate when it came to pinning people. Looking back at the wall, the boy nodded once. “It is rather boring, but it is part of a department store,” he shrugged. It only made sense. He had never understood the thrill of paying money to buy something in order to leave a message behind that nobody would give a damn about. He got his thrills from pickpocketing – at least at the end of the day he could take something home with him.

She should be doing it properly anyways. Odion had to quickly take his hands out of his pockets in order to catch the can, nearly letting it fall. Catching it at the last moment, the boy sent the little mischief maker a small smile. “Fine.” Odi looked at the girl, as she painted an ‘A’. So had he been right about her loving Hammel enough to spray paint it across the city? He chuckled to himself, pointing the nozzle of his spray can in the right way. “I would never rat on you,” he said, making a motion with his free hand as though zipping his lips shut.

Surprised to find red coming out of the can, Odion shrugged and went with it, making a bubbly, graffiti shaped ‘G’ for no particular reason. “Red. Are you going for a Christmas theme?”

Odion chuckled to himself, his eyes bright from the streetlamps. “Right. Could’ve fooled me,” he said, working on the next letter, not really sure what he was contributing here. At least he had found out the girl’s name. In all reality, she would probably be upset by the time he was done with whatever he did make. “Lovely name,” he added, just trying to be nice. Most Americans thought he was always hitting on them, but it was common courtesy where he was from. He liked Harmony’s spunk.

“Not sure yet,” Odion said, an apologetic smile on his face. “What’s totally-not-lame that starts with a ‘G’?” He asked, taking a step away from the wall to admire their work thus far. Suddenly getting an idea, the boy started working backwards, putting a capital ‘N’ on the left of the ‘G’. At least when it was finished, the graffiti would make some sense. The boy stuck his tongue out and bit it as he worked.

Soon there was an ‘I’ and then an ‘S’. The ‘G’ was a little over pronounced, but once the ‘S’ was placed on the end, the phrase “Harmony Sings” would be perfect. Odion could just see it now. He had completely forgotten that there was another human being standing next to him, but he grabbed the can with blue paint and began spraying it over the dark red, making a nice purple hue. No more Christmas He thought to himself.

Odion held his grin. Harmony was cute, in the little girl or sister kind of sense. But there was no way that he would voice that opinion now, not after being called a punk. "Sorry," he said, although he really didn't mean it. However, there was no reason to make the girl more angry, and Odi never sought out fights. "I don't have a problem with your name love, like I said, it's lovely." The girl was occupied with trying to look like a bad ass.

Polishing off his work, Odion put the spray can back in the girl's bag. They both went to Hammel, that much was established. "Yes, I go to Hammel as well," the red head clarified, waiting for the girl to finish up her name. "If you don't want to get caught we better get going as soon as you're done. This area is pretty well lit," he said factually. He had no interest in getting caught and if a law enforcer happened to come by, Odi wouldn't hesitate to ditch Harmony - it was simply the cruel reality of the situation.

Their work did look pretty good though.

Night patrols seemed a little silly to Charlie, now that he lived in such a small town. Not much happened, and usually, he was able to zoom about for his allotted three hours or so and then go home. But alas, tonight was not that kind of night. Instead, clearly unaware of his presence, two kids were busy tagging buildings with their nigh-indecipherable graffiti. Damn.

Turning on his headlights, aiming them at the two troublemakers and stepping out of the car, Charlie crossed his arms over his chest and frowned at them. "All right you two. I'm going to ask you not to run, because that would be stupid. Put the cans down, please." He contemplated the chances of them both turning tail and silently thanked God he was still in pretty good shape. That, and one of his strides was about five of theirs. He could catch them, he just didn't want to.

Trying to not spook them, he decided to introduce himself, "My name's Charlie. You kids go to the school up on the way?" It was a good bet they did.

Harmony was about to launch into a long tirade on her stupid hippie mother. How she had ruined her life and so forth, when she heard noticed headlights coming up behind them. She turned to see a police cruiser and a man stepping out of it. She was fearful for a moment, before her tough act slipped back in to take over.

She smiled at Charlie, ignoring his question about school and gestured to her artwork. “Like it?” she asked. “I think it really gives the place some color.”

She grinned at her fellow criminal just as he gave her a wink. She gave him a confused look as he took of speeding past the cop. Her jaw dropped a little. “Wimp!” she yelled after him.

She considered using her power as well, but even if she managed to teleport without passing out, she wasn’t sure where she’d end up. With her luck, she be right beside the cop, or already in the back of his squad car. She decided it would be better to stand her ground, and hope the cop thought she could launch fireballs at him or something.

“Kiddo?” Harmony said with disgust. “You tryin to get all buddy buddy with me, copper?” She grinned, tossing a spray paint can back and forth between her hands. “Maybe I do mind. I’m just expressing myself. Isn’t than in the bill of rights of something?” She did her best to keep up her tough act, even though she was a little worried about getting a ride in the back of a squad car. She took a step back closer to the wall, trying to create some more space between her and the cop.

“So why don’t ya go grab a doughnut or something and let me finish spreading some color around the town?” she suggested, while she looked around for an easy escape route. "Or maybe you're here for a make-over?" she pointed the can towards the man, giving it a few little shakes.
