This Is For You (Rhett.)

Odion frowned, hadn’t he been on time for the unveiling of Rhett’s apartment? Hmm, maybe Rhett wasn’t excited about today. No matter, he would be soon enough once he realized what was going on. A stern look crossed the ginger’s face as Rhett got the hint, getting up and showing the slightest bit of affection before departing for a quick wash. Odi sat on Rhett’s still very warm and admittedly inviting bed, running his hands through his hair, his legs twitching around nervously. He thought it was sweet that Rhett was still shy around him, even though it was unfair that the blonde had seen him naked and Odion didn’t get to see him in return. Ah well, it would only be a matter of time before that happened, that’s what the redhead told himself anyways. The boy got up again, and looked out the window, to the taxi driver, and gave the man a small wave, in which the man gestured to his watch in response.

It was always about timing.

Odion turned as Rhett came back into the room with only a towel on, and he sighed. “I thought I was the one who was supposed to be bad with time,” he grinned, only jesting, “but if you don’t hurry up there won’t be a plan.” Odi had the patience of a saint, but the nerves combined with being around Rhett wearing only a towel was starting to make him feel antsy. He crossed his arms, his blue eyes never leaving Rhett. “If you’ve been reading my mind again, I’m not going to be happy. This is supposed to be a surprise for you after all,” he said, his eyes growing wide as he was commanded to lead. Rhett really couldn’t just let him lead? He had to take away his thunder by telling him to? Odion sighed, taking the older boy’s hand, leaving the room and then the dorm with Rhett in tow.

The taxi driver was waiting and as soon as they were in the cab, he took off, knowing where to go already because Odion had told him. The ginger double checked his pocket watch and smiled for a moment, they were going to be on time and with some luck, maybe even a bit early. He looked over at Rhett, who looked wiped, and was happy, and maybe even a little proud, that he had implemented this plan - it was just what he needed. Odi looked out the window and his jittery legs bounced around once more. A few moments went by unnoticed by the time manipulator, before he realized they weren’t talking very much. He wasn’t bothered by this, but he was bothered by the fact that maybe he should be more bothered with their silence. But it was a comfortable silence. The ginger glanced over to Rhett, a small smile on his lips, before he looked away again. Then again, maybe it wasn’t comfortable silence at all. Odion was nervous about the relationship, yes, but he was afraid of flying. Terrified actually. And they were about to board a plane... Odi secretly thought he was going to pass out.

Some moments later, they arrived at the small airport, and after paying the taxi driver, Odion got their bags and handed the one with Rhett’s stuff to the blonde, and once they were inside of the sliding doors of the airport, the ginger told Rhett to wait near the entrance, and then approached the automated check-in lines, printed some airline tickets, and went to Rhett’s side once more. Odi handed Rhett’s ticket to him, complete with his full name and the destination they would land in in only a few hours: Las Vegas, Nevada. “Happy one month,” he said with a crooked, nervous, but somehow still charming grin.

Odion was only too happy to find Rhett fast asleep on the ride to the airport, then he wouldn’t be able to sense the nerves shooting out of the ginger’s body. This was intense, the whole thing was intense, and Odion was fried from lack of sleep and the thought of flying, and potentially looking like a complete moron in front of his boyfriend. A small grin overcame his lips and Odi relaxed momentarily as he watched Rhett sleep. He looked rather sweet in this state, and the ginger couldn’t help but kiss the top of the blonde’s head. He hated to wake him, but they were here, and Odion got out of the cab and left Rhett still half asleep.

Sitting beside Rhett, Odion was a little insulted that the blonde hadn’t even acknowledged what he said. “Holy shit,” he said simply, watching his boyfriend have a small mental break down. “I just thought it would be fun, you know, explore America like how we used to explore Europe...” Now he was just feeling stupid. Explaining himself wasn’t working. It was like he had just presented the tickets with a big ‘ta-da!’ and Rhett just shot him down. Odion’s frown deepened, and he let his bag settle on the ground. When had being minors ever stopped them from enjoying the world around them? “You know, never mind,” he looked at Rhett, “we don’t have to go, I just thought...” Odion shook his head, a confused expression on his freckled face. “I’m not marrying you after one month of dating, dieu, I think you’re the one that’s crazy.”

Feeling more crushed than mad, Odion could feel himself mentally and emotionally retreating from Rhett. Obviously he was way more excited about everything than the blonde was, or maybe he just wasn’t explaining things right. Maybe Rhett didn’t like surprises. “Hate flying anyways...” He muttered, looking at his ticket solemnly now. What once held a lot of fun and promise now just felt like a lead weight in his hand.

Looking up at the small screen that listed the flights, theirs would be boarding in fifteen minutes. Odion looked back at Rhett, a small smile on his face. “Come on Rhett,” he said, holding his boyfriend’s hand, “Hammel’s made you soft, let’s go have some fun. I promise I won’t get you drunk or get is into trouble... Well, not severe trouble...” He smiled his sly smile, resisting the urge to make a puppy dog face.

Odion frowned, but then smiled. Frowned because he was wondering when Rhett had gained a sense of responsibility, and smiled because Rhett was obviously happy with what they had. Maybe his job had given him a new perspective on things, but Odi would always see their Europe days as a part of them forever. Besides, it wasn’t like the ginger wasn’t responsible, he had planned the whole weekend, had booked some shows they could go see, and if they got bored or didn’t want to do the things he had in mind, they could just walk around. Magic shows, showgirls, ‘family friendly’ stuff, there was plenty to do that wasn’t in movies because it wasn’t as insane as drinking and marrying a total stranger.

Squeezing his hand lightly, Odion felt even worse for indirectly mentioning Trouble. It hadn’t been his intention, but Rhett seemed to recognize that. The ginger sighed, “I didn’t get permission...” Okay, so maybe he wasn’t as responsible as he thought. Maybe he had gotten a little carried away with everything, and he blushed lightly. He didn’t really want to go anymore. Odi sighed and let go of Rhett’s hand, running his hands over his face, seeing Rhett through his fingers before lowering them. “So you’re happy, staying here then?” He asked the tickets in his hands. The question implied so many things. Was Rhett content being in Pilot Ridge, working at McDonalds, and having his own place? Since when did he want to live the all American dream?

“We can go some other time, or we don’t have to go at all,” Odion forced a smile, putting the tickets in his bag and out of sight. All that planning for nothing. Today was supposed to be adventurous, so why did it feel so bittersweet? “I just wanted to plan something nice for you...” He said. After all the drama of the past month, he was trying to give their relationship a little more attention. If Rhett wanted to do something quainter, Odi would do it.

He stood then, looking at Rhett. “Guess I better hail that cab back, hey?”

Odion had his duffel bag in hand, a slightly depressed look on his face as he was about to take out his cell, ready to call the cab. His dark blue eyes locked with Rhett’s steely ones, breaking into a broad grin. “Really?” He was getting excited all over again, happily being pulled along, taking out his ticket again. “Fine fine, better than nothing,” he said, chuckling to himself as he put his bag and watched it go through the conveyer belt as their passports were being checked. Everything was going well, no glitches aside from the initial ones thus far.

Letting go of a deep breath, Odion was sitting in the aisle, not wanting to see the take off or the landing. He secretly hoped at this moment, that Rhett knew what it had taken to get on a plane and come to America in the first place. He was trying to get over his fears and live his life, but that didn’t mean it was going to be easy sailing. The ginger was gripping Rhett’s hand so hard that his knuckles were turning white, and his eyes were closed. This was going to be hellish, and the Gravol he had packed (the only thing that could knock him out cold) was not in his bag after all. Rhett was a major comfort though, and after a shared kiss, Odion leaned his head on the blonde’s shoulder. “If the plane crashes, at least I got to tell you I love you,” he said, realizing that he wasn’t making this easier on himself.

Talking about dying wasn’t a very good idea...

“Just a few hours...” He told himself. If his powers could be useful right now, that would be the best. But his high emotionality during flights messed with his powers, and propelling a plane full of people forward in time wasn’t going to happen, especially when he couldn’t speed up time easily to begin with. The plane started lurching forward and Odion sat back, his face losing color as he looked up at the small fans blowing air onto them. He reached up to try and turn it off, but the damn thing was stuck. Typical. After the initial take off, Odion relaxed a little bit more, and checked the pockets of the seats in front of them, slipping the barf bag that Rhett had in front of him to his own pocket. Chances were that if anyone was going to need it, he would.

To get over his nerves, Odion started talking, which maybe wasn’t really a good idea. “I made reservations at Texas de Brazil for supper, and there’s a magic show before that at the hotel I booked, but we’re obviously not staying, but we can still go right?” He smiled, squeaky nervous laughter escaping him. “You can pick something for lunch,” he offered, a smirk on his face. Yes, that was the only thing Rhett got to chose, because that was what Odion decided.

Just as Rhett adjusted his position by reflex, Odion had mentioned how he felt about the blonde – it just came out. If the older boy ever wanted to know anything about Odi without using his powers, putting him on a plane would work just as well. The fear of the plane crashing and his life being cut short made him think about all the things he had, didn’t have, regretted, and most enjoyed. The younger lad tilted his head into the crook of Rhett’s neck and just let himself be. The skin on the blonde’s neck was soft, and the shower had left him smelling sweet, and Odion could feel himself smile for the first time since the plane took off, aside from his reaction to the kiss.

“I have some ideas for lunch,” he said with a smile, feeling the hot breath of Rhett’s yawn on the top of his head, and when he started to fall asleep, Odion let him. Being quiet and staying in the shadows was his specialty after all. It wasn’t until the two were receiving stares, and Rhett was completely asleep, that the ginger adjusted his position to sit straight, trying to keep his mind on anything but the surroundings. He closed his eyes and counted his breathes, trying to get lost in his mind like he so often did without trying. Hopefully his powers side effects would prove useful here, and the blonde’s being by his side would calm him down enough to relax. He wouldn’t find sleep here though, not in midair.

Landing was another story. Odion reached for Rhett’s hand again and gripped it tightly once more, gritting his teeth as the plane jostled around. The redhead stayed still until the lights for the ‘buckles in’ sign went off, and everyone began moving, stretching, grabbing their bags, and filling the aisle. The ginger stayed in his spot as everyone moved around them, wondering if maybe he was also a bit claustrophobic. Once Odion found the courage to look out the window and see that they were safely on the ground, the redhead smiled softly at Rhett, despite his face being pale. “How’d you sleep?”

Watching the blonde make his way to the back of the plane to use the facilities, Odion watched as the plane emptied, and he got down their luggage. He raised a hand to his head, feeling a headache coming on. But he would push through it, the flight stewardess watching him with curious eyes. He left the plane and waited for Rhett in the hall, their bags on the floor. He guessed they didn’t really need these. Pulling out his pocket watch, he changed the time accordingly, before reaching up in the air to stretch. Maybe they could still check in at the hotel, and just have lunch there or something. It was supposed to be complimentary.

Once Odion spotted Rhett, he instantly perked up, grabbing both of their bags, ready to go. At least it was all they had brought. “Let’s go to the hotel, see what we won’t be sleeping in tonight,” he said with a crooked grin, before it faded into something more sick looking. Instead of sleeping soundly, they had another four hour flight to look forward to in the evening. “We’ll have lunch, relax,” he smiled again as he lead the way, following the signs on the way out to where cabs were waiting. It was so, busy here. But the two of them were used to it. People were everywhere and going in every direction.

“Wynn hotel please,” he told the driver, who gave the boys a curious look. Odion smiled politely and settled into the backseat as the taxi took off. Looking over at Rhett, and, because they were in sin city and would never run into these people again, he leaned in close to the blonde and hovered in front of his face for only a few moments, before planting a kiss on his boyfriend’s lips, enthusiastically letting his tongue come out to play.

It would seem Rhett was beginning to recognize Odion’s ‘bedroom eyes’, and each of the boy’s prude-ness, was beginning to give way to affection. Slowly, but surely anyways. The session ended far too soon in the ginger’s opinion, and even though the cab had stopped and the cabbie was staring, Odion didn’t let up, even as Rhett was trying to pull away – even when Odi stopped for only a second to give the man his money for the fare and continued pressing kisses against the blonde’s mouth, cheeks, neck... The redhead only leaned forwards as Rhett leaned away, “Maybe I would stop if you didn’t call me Martin,” he said in a low rumble, before pulling away and exiting the cab completely. That had been fun.

Following Rhett, for the umpteenth time. ”Good taste”, Odion smiled at the back of Rhett’s neck before looking him in the eye. “Thank you,” he said simply, averting his eyes forward to make sure he didn’t bump into anything or anyone on the way inside. His smile only broadened as the blonde held his hand, deep blue eyes capturing steely grey ones to share a moment in silence. But often silence could have much meaning.

Odion had hoped that Rhett would show some kind of excitement about being here, the top rated hotel in Vegas, but he acted as though he’d seen better, or like he’d done this a thousand times. What was it going to take to impress him, or even make him smile? The redhead pulled out a credit card with a fake name and handed it to the woman behind the counter, and as she processed the information, another employee brought their bags to their room. “Your room number is on the card,” the receptionist was saying to the boy with freckles, “enjoy your stay.” A forced smile from both parties and Odion pushed away from the counter, lacing his arm through Rhett’s.

“I can’t remember if you like seafood, but...” He didn’t finish his sentence as the two of them approached the restaurant in the lobby, which was decked out in platinum and pristine as pristine could be. “Table for two?” The hostess asked, a younger girl who seemed happy that they were together. Odion fed off of this with pleasure, nodding his head once, giving her a charming wink. As she led the way, the ginger didn’t let go of Rhett, as though he were some kind of possession, until they sat down across from each other at a plush booth.

“Your server will be right with you,” she said with a smile, before leaving. Odion looked from the menu to Rhett with a smile. “Have anything you like,” he offered, his dark eyes going back to the menu. This was going to be a lovely change from the ‘menu’ at Hammel.
