The Basics
Name: Alexis Tria Amaros
Nicknames: Lexi or Lex
Age: 17
Orientation: Heterosexual, but not against trying new things.
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Ability to generate force-fields. Side-effects include some loss of sensory functions while shielded, usually beginning with numbness in the hands which spreads throughout her body, making her feel like her limbs are falling asleep. The more of her which becomes numb, the more it becomes difficult for her to move while maintaining a shield. If the numbness consumes her whole body she begins to feel dizzy and loses control of her motor functions, causing her to collapse and black out at which point the shield also will collapse. Once the shield is dropped, feeling and mobility are slowly regained, along with consciousness if it goes that far.

General Appearance: Alexis has the body of a dancer. She is thin, almost stick like, but toned and has legs that go on forever. She has the perfect build for ballet which is a good thing, since that is what she does. When she isn't in a tutu, Alexis likes to dress to the nines. She never slacks off, her hair is always just the way she wants it and never leaves the house without make up. She prefers feminine clothing like dresses and skirts to jeans and would never be caught dead in sweats. She accessorizes every outfit and everything she wears IS an outfit. No piece of jewelry, purse, or shoes was just thrown together, everything was perfectly and painstakingly chosen to compliment her. Often whatever she is wearing will give a clue to her mood, which usually means bright colors to match her bubbly personality.
In order to keep her body in this perfect condition Alexis practices her ballet every day, eats balanced and nutritious meals (except for the occasional french fry indulgence), and has a skin care routine that takes up a good deal of her mornings and evenings. Her brown hair is long and naturally wavy, though she does straighten it on occasion when she wishes to appear serious. Her hazel eyes are large and expressive and her broad smile has been called contagious.
Personality: Alexis needs attention the way other people need air. She loves for all eyes to be on her and desperately wants everyone to like her. This has caused her to never fully learn who she is as a person. She has never tested her inner strength and does not know that she has any. When others argue or fight she will often say almost anything to calm them down and often tries to appease everyone. She is very bubbly and outgoing. She loves to laugh, and has learned to look on the bright side of things in almost every situation. Alexis has a bad habit of speaking before thinking, and though her intentions are good for the most part, she sometimes says things that offend people without realizing it. Whatever pops into her head usually gets said, and if it is something she should have kept quiet about, tends to pour out more and more like word vomit when she tries to correct the situation. She also can't keep a secret to save her life. She is a terrible liar, but most of the time just forgets that whatever she is blabbing about was not supposed to be told. When she gets excited, Alexis speaks so quickly that it is often hard for others to understand her and becomes embarrassed when she realizes.
Because Alexis is so bubbly and carefree with her words people often think she is an airhead. She hates for others to think she is stupid because everyone else in her family is so intellectual and business oriented. She feels like she is letting them all down. To compensate for her perceived faults she seeks attention in unhealthy ways. She often becomes overly friendly and flirtatious with members of the opposite sex, but so far is still a virgin thanks to the protection of her older brother, Ethan, whom she adores. Alexis wants nothing more than to be just like her brother, but at the same time, knows she never will be. She feels like her father ignores her and concentrates all his attention on Ethan, but instead of resenting Ethan for this, only looks up to him all the more for it. Though she abhors violence of any kind, Alexis has taken up an interest in guns as a way to try to get her father's attention. The only real time they spend together is at the shooting range, and while Alexis is far from a great shot, she has been improving and her father says he will eventually take her hunting with him.
Alexis is very right-brained and the things she does for herself are all considered right-brain creative activities. She excels at ballet and loves to dance. She has a natural grace and fluidity to her movements. She also loves sculpture and pottery. The creation of something beautiful out of an ugly lump of clay seems like magic to her and she often doesn't know what she is creating until it is almost finished. When she is stressed or upset she will turn to one of these activities to recharge herself. Though she needs people, there are times when she craves solitude, and that is when she creates her art.

History
Alexis grew up in Concord MA in a perfect home with a perfect family. Her mother, owner of an international hotel chain, traveled a lot and often took Alexis and Ethan to far away exotic locations for vacations (This is how she learned to speak French almost fluently and a smattering of Russian). Her father, the chief executive of a consultant management firm works long hours, but does make time for his family as well. They have a housekeeper also, Christina, who cleans and cooks for the family, but does not live in the household.
In some ways, Alexis grew up very quickly, she started wearing make up at a young age, entered a few beauty pageants when she was little (never winning and placing only once), and experienced things most kids her age weren't able to experience. She became somewhat (though less than she thinks) knowledgeable about other cultures and about people in general. In junior high she was co-captain of her cheer-leading squad, played a major supporting role in the school play, and won multiple dance competitions and starred in several recitals for ballet. She has already set her heart on going to Paris to study ballet and become a dancer.
When her brother was discovered to be a meta human she desperately hoped to follow in his footsteps, no matter that it would cause her to become a social pariah and outcast who might never gain stardom in the world of dance. Her parents were pleased with her brother, and she wanted that for herself as well. They told her not to get her hopes up and that she had a much better chance of following her dreams and would always be special even if she didn't have any powers, but Alexis insisted that she too would be a meta human, and surprisingly to everyone but her, she turned out to be right.
For over four years Alexis attempted to manifest a power. She would stare at random people on the street trying to peer into their mind and hear their thoughts, or try to move things with her mind. She even tried to concentrate on a specific flower hoping to make it grow, or burst into flame, or SOMETHING.
Once, doing this while sitting on a park bench, she was so preoccupied that she failed to hear the shouts of some nearby ball players. At the last moment, something caught her attention out of the corner of her eye and she turned to see a baseball hurtling towards her face. She reacted on instinct, throwing up a hand to shield her face and rolled off the bench onto the ground. The baseball seemed to hit a wall of air and bounce back, rolling a few feet away. Alexis was frozen in her position, arm upraised and merely stared at the ball in shock wondering what had happened. That is when she saw the fly. It was bouncing off some invisible wall just like it would a window in house with flies (her house never had flies, but she had seen the phenomena). Then, all of a sudden, the fly was able to push through and flew onward. She got up, dusting herself off and realized her hand was asleep, but oddly not the hand she had been leaning on after rolling to the ground, no it was the hand which she had held in front of her face. Finally, it clicked, force-fields. She, Alexis Tria Amaros, was a meta human who could create force-fields.
Alexis excitedly ran home to tell her parents, neither of which believed her. She had been going on and on about this for so long that they thought their daughter must have finally snapped. It didn't help that she was completely unable to duplicate the effect. Finally, in desperation she wrote to her brother whom she knew would be on her side and he came through for her once again. He reported her possible status to the officials at his school and they came to do a blood test. Once the results came back positive, her parents had no choice but to let her go.
After studying at the Hammel Institute for nearly 3 years, Alexis is still woefully far from graduating. She can't seem to pass any of her math classes. She has however, gained a fair amount of control over her ability. She can successfully create a shield large enough to surround her whole body, or wide enough for three (small) people to hide behind. She has found the experience to be quite draining however, and has found out that over taxing herself leads to unconsciousness. Now she is working on creating and dropping small shields quickly to deflect projectiles without draining her the way maintaining a steady shield does.

(from another site)
Alexis had been waiting while everyone else demonstrated their elements. She was ahead of everyone else in this class, it was the only class she had any skill in, but she was debating on whether or not to show off. She loved the attention, but didn’t want to hurt anyone else’s feelings.
Liz had managed to get the flame to come actually jump from the candle to her hand and hold it which meant she must be fairly strong, and Lilah, a girl Alexis wasn’t familiar with, displayed her powers with a certain flair. Everyone else seemed a bit average though. Alexis wasn’t sure if they were just nervous or too weak in elemental magic to do much more.
She decided on something simple and elegant that would hopefully give her instructor an idea of her strength without looking like a show off to everyone else. She stood, saying her name clearly, and smiled at those around her, giving the cute boy at the next table a wink before concentrating on the pan of water.
Alexis gazed at the water in the dish for a moment. It was water again, no longer ice or snow, and the fluidity of water in liquid form made it the easiest state to work with. She raised a hollow sphere of it then turned the globe to ice. She began melting just the inside of the ball from the top so it appeared to be raining on the inside. As the water collected at the bottom of the inside of the globe she froze it again sculpting it into the shape of a girl holding an umbrella. The process was beginning to tire her so she refrained from making it any more detailed than the general figure of a girl and then let the whole thing melt and stream back into the pan.
She slowly sunk back into her chair and felt that her face was flushed and she was a bit out of breath. Changing different forms of water so rapidly was a lot of work...so much for not showing off.
