Neat Little Domestic Life (Sean)

The telepath managed not to sigh, because he knew the smile wasn’t quite sincere. Unfortunately, he knew Josh’s modus operandi, and as much as he thought this was also something they should be able to talk about, he knew that the attorney disagreed wholeheartedly. And as he didn’t want the other man to experience any further discomfort, he let the matter drop when Josh brushed off his sincere reassurance with a weak attempt at another joke for their banter.

And when the other man became silent while searching for a change of subject.

During that time, Sean picked up his fork and returned to eating the meal they had prepared. He would let Josh take the initiative there, not guiding him, simply taking whatever bait he provided in an attempt to maximize his comfort.

Unsurprisingly, that bait came in the form of discussing his students and the weather (a classic and all the more apt given recent events).

Swallowing his bite of food, he said, “I have to assume that they did. With the weather manipulators doing what they could to keep the storm at bay, they knew they were safe. Nobody would have been allowed out, and we have the backup generators to make sure that power wouldn’t go down for more than a minute. The weekend staff would have been there to make sure nobody was too scared. Everyone is allowed to contact their families. I’m sure they were all fine.”

Hopefully that was enough to shift Josh's attention from darker avenues.
