The Basics
Name: Gwendolyn Jean Peyton
Nicknames: Gwen (she hates Gwendolyn), Freak from her middle-school classmates
Age: 19
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: College studdent
Powers: Precognition: Gwen gets glimpses of the future both while awake and while dreaming. The visions that she sees when she sleeps are fleeting, obscure and mostly blurry; they come in symbols and would need deciphering. The ones she sees when she is awake are more potent, clearer, and resemble the actual events. These visions are also spontaneous and can come to her at random times. Because these were dismissed during her childhood as night terrors and having an overactive imagination, Gwen grew increasingly paranoid and neurotic, having an initial distrust of people, and she sometimes thinks that these people are out to get her, though this attitude lessened when she entered Hammel. She also gets migraines from her visions she gets when awake.
Play By: Lucy Hale
The Details
Hair Color: Dark brown
Eye Color: Hazel
Any Piercings? She has the usual piercings on her ears, and on her navel
Any Tattoos? As much as she'd like to say yes, she's never gotten around to actually getting a real one.
Any Scars? She has a few scars on the side of her right wrist from an accident when she was 14.
General Appearance: Gwen is petite, closing in on five feet, and has pixie-like features. She has fair skin and is slim, her tiny and fragile-looking stature making her seem younger than her real age. Gwen has dark, expressive eyes, even more highlighted by her hollow cheeks. In terms of appearances, she likes to keep things casual, usually throwing on an oversized shirt, or anything that keeps her comfortable. She's not much of a fashionista.
Personality: Some people may find Gwen off-putting, with her small frame and unbelievably large mouth (figuratively) as a sort of irony to her persona. She has a penchant for swearing, who usually tells it like it is. If we were to be really frank, she's kind of a nutjob. Gwen is neurotic, freaking out on the most mundane of things and has unpredictable outbursts, and has anger issues as well. This isn't to say that she's entirely socially inept, only that she may be a tad inappropriate at times, which makes her fond of social experimentation, sometimes at the expense of others, but has never really led to actual harm. People's attitudes toward her in the past has led her to put on a facade that she does not need to depend on people, but she wants someone to look past the neurosis and understand her.
Interests-wise, she's your run-of-the-mill "geek chic" scene kid; she's into graphic novels and obscure music, and enjoys spending time at dingy, uncrowded pubs.
Your Vices
Likes: graphic novels, Saturday morning cartoons, old movies, cheesy sitcom reruns, her iPod (what nineteen-year-old doesn't think she has the best playlist?), time alone, sexual experimentation
Dislikes: Justin Bieber, anything from the Disney Channel (like she wasn't a kid once), people who exercise authoritarian rule, shallow and pretentious people, those who dismiss or ignore her opinions
Strengths: Her paranoia during her childhood has given her an advantage-- it's made her a good judge of character, and usually steers clear of people who may not have the best intentions. She's also somewhat perceptive, and can sometimes choose to see the future at will, though spontaneous visions still come to her. She's also a genuine person; she can be a good friend if one can tolerate--or embrace-- the outbursts and verbal diarrhea.
Weaknesses: Her neuroticism is a double-edged sword, still; it can lead her to socially awkward situations and can make other people feel uncomfortable. Also, she cannot see any visions of herself, unless it includes the future of other people: like an event that would include her and her classmates, for example.
Fears: Ironically-- of the future. She's also afraid of not having anyone to depend on in the end.
Secret: Same as one of her fears: she puts on an independent facade, but she's secretly afraid of not having anyone to trust or depend on in the end.
Family Ties
Father: Oscar Peyton, 48
Mother: Dolores Peyton, 47
Siblings: Liam, 21, a college football player and Sydney, 15, a cheerleader in her high school
Any Other Important People:
History
Gwen Peyton grew up in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Her father owns a locally successful auto shop, while her mother is the assistant manager of a local department store. Her older brother Liam plays for the state university's basketball team, while her younger sister is a cheerleader in high school. Unlike the other metas, Gwen grew up with a rather normal and unremarkable childhood. This unremarkability was most likely because she was the middle child in a brood of three. At 11, her "weird dreams" began to manifest, which did not alarm her parents, and dismissed them as night terrors. This was usually followed by an incident a few weeks later, but because her dreams were vague, they were open to interpretation, so despite Gwen's protests her parents thought nothing of it but pure coincidence, and an overactive imagination.
At the age of 14, Gwen had her first "awake" vision. She and her best friend Riley were biking home from school, when she foresaw that Riley would be hit by a bus out of nowhere. Panicking, she pushed Riley and her bike out of the way, with Gwen losing control of her own and hitting a spiked fence on the side of the road. Eleven stitches and a tetanus shot after, she was finally brought to a psychiatrist. A week later, the Hammel Institute came for her.
At eighteen, she finished Hammel's high school curriculum and opted to go to the local college, as her training in Hammel was not yet over. Gwen still has trouble seeing the future fully at will, and still cannot see her own future through her visions.
Roleplay Example
(From an old fantasy RP)
The sun shone a little too brightly, blinding Silver just slightly as her feet dragged her to what seemed like a majestic sight out of nowhere. Literally, out of nowhere. Silver had wandered far and wide, travelling to different continents to find what she did not know for so long; only for those attempts to be done in vain. One minute she was talking to a foreign merchant, next thing she knew, she fell into a whole that came out of nowhere. Still, there was no turning back (and even if she wanted to, she didn't know how). Silver would have very much preferred to be in who-knows-what-part-this-is of the world, than to go back to them. The only people who she thought had cared for her, but then, what do you expect from a group of assassins? At the very least, she wasn't killed, though she suspected, the thought wasn't very far from their minds.
As the water fountain came into view, which was about 10 feet from her, Silver let out a sigh of relief. At such a young age, Silver had a remarkable endurance and physical fitness because of intense training, but the weariness she felt was a new kind of feeling-- perhaps because she did not remember what it felt to endure pain. It had been, what, 5 months now, since the "incident"? 5 months since she'd somehow woken up not knowing where she was, or who she was, and why she was lying down in a pool of blood. Judging from her surroundings--and the many night terrors that followed after, Silver led a cold, destructive life.
With all her might, she rushed towards the fountain, gripping its edges, and finally knelt down in front of it, a sloppy position if anybody would have seen her. The cool water that shot up in the air and back into the water formed little ripples around Silver's tired, sweaty fingers, and she felt invigorated. She quickly cupped as much water she could get in her hands, and poured it all over her face, allowing it to drip down her tired body, and then proceeded to get some more and lap it down. Just a little more water, she thought, and I'll be on my way. Silver hoped no one would see her.
