Josh laughed at Cobalt's assessment of Leila. "I suppose so. I can't believe she doesn't welcome your help, though, you do have more experience than she does. But wow, politics." He mused, staring up into the brilliant blue sky, forgetting for the moment to feed the ducks.

"You know. Sean used to tell me I should run for judge. I don't know that I would enjoy that, though. Not that I could, here, anyway, but..." He trailed off for a moment. There was no running for judge in Vermont, and he hadn't been living here long enough to be appointed. He was still sure he wouldn't like it. "Kudos to her for trying."

“Yeah, it is.” Cobalt agreed with Riley’s assessment. Cobalt didn’t travel very much and never out of the country, so such a trip seemed like a vague curiosity. The sort of thing that happened to other people. “Should be fun for you, though.”

Cobalt laughed. “Yeah, as long as she’s doing fine. I have experience in law, I guess. Not politics really. That was never my game.” He grinned, tossing a piece of stale bread to the ducks.

“Judge, huh?” Cobalt tilted his head for a moment, trying to picture it. “You’d probably be good at it. It would be a lot of work though.”

Riley nodded his agreement on Josh's statement about Cobalt's experience and his wonderment in Leila's path. When Cobalt downplayed his strength, Riley gave him a small encouraging smile. "I'm sure she'll be fine either way. That girl is a trooper."

"That sounds great though. But if you don't think you'd enjoy it, best not approach it I guess?" Riley threw his two cents worth. He didn't have much to say about it but he did know he'd rather see his friends happy than miserable with what they were doing at any point in time.

They fell into a comfortable silence and Riley smiled. It couldn't get any better than this, he thought to himself. "Thanks for coming out today. This is perfect." Riley leaned back against his elbows and closed his eyes against the sunshine.
