Time Warp: Year of Living Dangerously (Sean)

Unsurprisingly it took very little time to find the office he would be working out of; the attorney was relieved to know that it really would be the short distance Ms. Adams had assured him of when he had inquired. He was perfectly used to cycling for longer distances, of course, but Pilot Ridge wasn't quite the City and the terrain felt less friendly (to him) than even crowded and bustling pavement.
Even the neighborhoods seemed near at hand, though perhaps some of that was the fact that Sean was driving them. Cycling in the snow and ice would prove to be somewhat difficult, but he could build time into his commute for inclement weather.
And then in the summers he would, with less time spent battling the weather, have more time to spend with Sean.
Or his parents.
As they drove past the houses he'd circled in the newspaper he jotted down notes, occasionally requesting that Sean park the car so that he could dart out and grab brochures placed next to the for sale signs. Sometimes he asked questions of his friend, about house buying or what would be most convenient for the area. Where he might best get along with neighbors, or not vex them by his singleness.
At the end of the ride he'd marked off a few homes, and starred others as higher priority when he found a Realtor.
As Sean drove them through quiet little streets, on the way toward the familiar cul de sac his villa occupied, Josh reached out to pat one hand.
"Thank you."
