A Night out with the Family (Family Members Only)

[Alice Halifax]

The first Family meeting. A rather important moment and one which the group would look back on years from now with embarrassed smiles. Alice could have chosen a serious setting, something akin to a board meeting with all sorts of soft lighting and modern styled furniture, but then again, Alice was a woman of style and moments of oddity. The next town over from Pilot Ridge wasn't much different but original in it own right. One of the the things which set it apart from Pilot Ridge was the Skating Rink. One wouldn't expect to see someone such as Alice at such a place as a skating rink, but she was still young and loved to have fun. Coming from California, Alice was used to having a plethora of activities to indulge in and seeing how her mother and father weren't exactly the supervising sort, Alice was out and about on the social scene from a young age. Even when she went home on season breaks, Alice hardly ever stayed home.

The skating rink was crowded as usual which served the need of the Family tonight. A small group teens and young adults gathering together, laughing and talking, huddled up in a booth somewhere would blend in like a needle in a stack of needles. This first meeting wouldn't be anything which required CIA level security anyway. Alice was the only one so far which knew all the members of the Family and so as such, this meeting would be an introduction of sorts. Time for everyone to get to know one another and to establish some emotional and memorable ties. While this group was being established as a means to propel each member to god like status, it was also a means to give each member someone to find a kindred tie with.

Alice was dressed more casual than anyone who knew her would have seen her tonight. She wore a pair of black loose dress slacks with a loose fitting white top which dipped very low in the back to reveal part of the black wings tattooed on her back. The top right shoulder of her top slipped off her shoulder as designed, showing a bit more skin. Around Alice's neck was a thick flat silver necklace with a long skinny diamond hanging from it which rested tightly against her neck. Alice's hair was pulled up a bit with several ringlets hanging. Large silver hoop earrings dangled from her ears to match her necklace. Alice's nails were down in a black and white swirl to match her outfit. Her eyes were shadowed black and she wore a soft base to accent her facial features. Completing this look was a pair of old school quad skates, white of course with black wheels.

The music in the skating rink was loud with a thumping bass pushing the movement of bodies. There was little lighting save for the disco ball which hung in the middle of the room, reflecting the lights cast onto it. Red and green laser lights flashed here and there to give a retro feel to the place. Greasy food littered the air with its aroma, sort of turning Alice's stomach. Alice was gliding about the rink like some sort of angel, nothing fancy but fancy enough to show she was used to this sort of thing. Isabella was with Alice as always, somewhere in the crowded building, trying to find her place among the crowd. The others should have been arriving at any moment now and thanks to the mental bond which Alice and Aki now shared, Alice would be aware before anyone else.

[Aki Welland]

Aki had gotten a note from Alice, just a passing thing in the hall. But Alice had implied so much more with that light brush of fingers. Aki had read further into the light contact to see Alice was looking forward to the first formal meeting. And the fact that she was planning it at the skating rink a town over gave Aki an excuse to get out some of her punkier, more risque skater clothes. Ohh, for someone who didn't care about how she dressed she seemed to dress in quite high fashion these days. It was okay because no one blinked an eye at what the telepath did. Not anymore at least. It just didn't surprise people. So with a smile she set out planning a good outfit.

Her closet was carelessly strewn all over her room by the time she had it together. The right outfit conglomerated itself into one outfit. Jeans, boots, a Gothic lace shirt that was nice and snug, leaving nothing to the imagination. Over that her yellow vest, a little bit of steam punk jewelry and no makeup. She let her hair frizz out today. It didn't need to be perfectly straight for her to skate well. Fast. That was what was on her mind. It made her oot a little heavy as she drove over to the rink. When she got there she skimmed the atmosphere before going in. Alice was already here. She could feel a definite pull from the link they had formed. That made her smile as she walked in and bought her ticket. She took off her boots ans put on black speed skates. They'd gone unused for a while, but after a moment being on wheels felt as natural as breathing.

She left her belongings with those that clearly belonged to Alice, and most likely Isabella too. Aki hadn't spent much time around the more shy girl, but that was no problem. She was Alices prize, let them have thier fun. Aki did a few laps around the rink before she arrowed in on the mind ping she was getting from where Alice was. Her wheels matched speeds and a wolfish grin spread across her face. Alice just had to know she was there.

" Hello there Miss Halifax. It's everyone's favorite 'path checking in." she said in a delightfully mischievous, very loud purring tone of voice.

[Odion Martins]

Odion didn’t skate, he didn’t know how. It had also been a pain in the ass to get to the next town over, but he had managed to pickpocket enough money for a cab over. Walking into the skating rink, the ginger visibly cringed. This was not a place he would choose to be in. He shoved his hands in the pocket of his long black coat, a simple pair of jeans and a green t-shirt made him appear as normal as everyone else here. There weren’t as many metas in this town, that much he knew for sure. He wasn’t about to go anywhere without doing a little research first. Odion was just resourceful like that.

He immediately spotted Alice, floating around on the rink like she had been born knowing how to skate. His think lips curved up into a small smile. He was absolutely excited to not only see her again, but to finally meet the rest of the ‘family’. Manoeuvring carefully through people, he made his way to the rink, simply watching the girl, and then another approach her. Odion was good with remembering details, but it also helped that they had made a connection, and he knew Aki was in the rink before he could see her. Still, seeing her only clarified what the powers meant, and what kind of effect they had on him.

He watched the girls interact, knowing full well that they knew he was there. He was waiting to make eye contact with either one of them, and once that was done, he gave a small wave. He didn’t want to make them look completely idiotic by coming onto the rink without skates. Just what exactly did Alice have in mind for them all today anyways? Odion hoped it wouldn’t be a waste of his time. Alice and Aki seemed serious about this ordeal, and he had as well, so what about everyone else? He leaned against the rail, a sly grin on his face. He was ready for action. Action, and answers.

[Isabella Crane]

Isabella had taken her time removing her coat and settling her things as Alice made her way around the rink. Isabella didn't know how to skate, not yet... and prior to this meeting she had never owned a pair of roller skates. She had opted for the more traditional quad skates, a cute black pair with studs on them. Her outfit matched them and although it was much more casual than she was used to she hoped it at least gave her a flirty edge. After all she wanted to present herself in a way that would make Alice proud to have her.

A smile slipped across her pink lips as she thought about her love, glancing up and getting a glimpse of the wings on her back. She took her time tying her laces, sitting right next to the rink. She had alerted Alice she had never skated before, however that only made it better because that would give them a reason to be close. Alice was going to help her and Bella was confident that before the night was over she would be doing it all on her own and having fun.. Fun. A word that just a few months ago seemed almost alien to her. Her life had changed so much since she had 'met' Alice. Some might not agree that it was all good, but Bella would not change anything if she could.

She let the laces fall as she finished making neat loops, sitting back and waiting for Ms.Halifax to meet her gaze. She wasn't about to try to get up on her own, that would probably be the hardest part. She let her mind wander to the family. Sure she knew the members by now but mostly in name. She was a shy girl, well for the most part of her years at Hammel, and although a new side of her started rearing it's head she still wasn't on a mission to make friends. After all she would be out of here in a few years and it seemed unnecessary to work on something that seemed so.... temporary. Alice, however was not the case. And now that there was a family established, well it seemed her little world of people would be growing. Her life was getting busier and although the girl was not used to it, it didn't bother her.. perhaps because Alice seemed to keep her grounded.

Her eyes darted over Aki as she made her way around the rink and towards Alice. Isabella just watched the two for a moment before her angel's icy gaze met hers, she felt her chest heave for just a moment, it felt like she was flushing like a child caught watching something they ought not. But Alice still gave her that effect, even after the time they had spent together. She gave her lover a sly smile and nodded at Aki, who seemed to have glanced her way....

[Alice Halifax]

As Aki entered the building, Alice felt a brush against her thoughts and her conscious self. The bond which she and Aki had was interesting and certainly most useful. As Aki grew in her ability, so would the mental connection of the group. Through Aki, each of the four founding Family members could and would be able to communicate with one another, sharing simple thoughts and ideas. Alice wondered if the connection between she and Aki would be the strongest considering they were the first, and seeing how they just seemed to bond with one another. With this thought came several others. Alice wondered if she could plant some sort of sub-conscious thought or hypnotic phrase into Aki's receptive mind. Alice hypnotic voice combined with her mental connection, in theory, could give her a powerful sway over Aki. The other thought which had occurred, was the mixing of personalities. With a mental link came the possibility of Alice's personality, spilling over into Aki's or vice versa, whichever of the two happened to have the more dominating persona.

The mental bond became stronger with the realization that Aki was near. Alice couldn't exactly pin point Aki's location, but she could feel which part of the crowded building she was moving about in. It was still odd, Alice felt more comfortable now that Aki was closer to her, as if Alice herself was more complete. Alice continued to skate about, purposely keeping her eyes from looking for Aki. It wasn't long though before Aki's voice sounded from beside of Alice, causing her to smile and slow down. "I'm eager to pursue this bond of ours further Aki. It is rather enjoyable," she said, turning her gaze to Aki.

Drifting more to the side of the rink, skating slower now, Alice cleared her throat and looked off to the far side of the room. Odion had made his appearance, simply standing there near the railing. Alice pouted some, disappointed to see Odion not participating in the event. "I think our founding members are all here," she said to Aki, nodding toward Odion and then looking off to the area where Izzy had been earlier. "If you would Aki, accompany me to round up mister Martins and then we'll swing over to snatch away my darling Izzy for our introductions," she asked of her mental partner.

[Stella Pinyin]

Stella hadn't wanted to go at first. Firstly, when Alice had patiently explained what a roller skating rink was, the pale girl had timidly pointed out that given her eyesight, it was highly likely that she would not only fall over herself, but take several other hapless skaters with her. Still, Alice had asked again, with Stella's dorm mate Isabella behind her, and the chinese girl had found herself agreeing, even looking forward to it.

She had even let Alice pick out a dress for her, and while she had baulked at the bulky petticoat, when Alice had told her how it would look so pretty she find herself agreeing with softly voiced enthusiasm, and even letting the blonde girl fix her hair with some sort of bow thing.

She couldn't tell herself what it looked like, but Alice told her it was lovely and she believed her. And if people stared, well, people always stared. "I'll wait here," she said softly as Alice and Izzy pulled their skates on, and the bone white girl spread out her skirts to sit on a bench near their things, unable to make out any faces.

Well, she was happy to wait by the rink. Alice would call her when she was needed. What they were doing here and who they were meeting, the blonde woman hadn't really said, but Stella didn't feel it was necessary to ask. She trusted Alice, after all.

[Aki Welland]

Aki nodded, and let Alice move away. She wanted to skate another lap before she got off the floor because she loved the song. Her curly hair was all over nd she looked...well, she looked positively dangerous. It just seemed to emanate from her every pore. Mischief, danger, and the sort of feel of a wolf watching it's prey. She thought about taking off her yellow vest but decided not too. Aki realiuzed that for some reason now that she was ack with everyone she felt more..whole It was strange. Whenever she was away she felt less than herself, which was hard. It made it hard to concentrate sometimes. It was possible that it was a side effect of the connection, but she wasn't sure.

Once she had gone her lap Aki made her way over to the others. Alice, Isabella, Odion and Stella were all around, and it didn't take her very long to find them. All together they glowed in her conciousness like a lantern, bright and warm. She slowly skated over as if she were on air, the movement so easy. How she had missed skating. She hadn't been in so long.

" Are we ready to meet and have fun?" She asked. She was projecting her excitement slightly through the link, just as a test. She wanted to see how strong it was with all of them there together, and if it was stronger together. Aki had a theory that the link would be stronger since they were so close.

[Odion Martins]

Odion surveyed the various women he would be working with. Alice with her charm, class, beauty, and obviously stupendous power. Aki, who was intriguing and a person all her own, and Odi's blue eyes were currently following her around the rink, before he looked to Isabella, Alice's weakness, unknown to the boy, but hopefully not for long. He shifted and stood up a little straighter as Aki approached, a small sheepish smile on his face.

It was then he noted all of their presences in his mind, and he wasn't sure how he felt about that. A little queasy, but maybe that was just from watching the girls dance around on the ice. He turned to see another girl, with multiple skirts and a shy expression, and he smiled softly at her. He had a feeling she was another member of their little tribe, and that feeling was confirmed as Aki approached both him and the albino girl, who was just as unique as the rest of them. Alice sure had rounded up a bunch of rarities.

"How could I not have fun, surrounded by beautiful women I'll soon be calling family?" He replied to Aki, looking from her to Aki, feeling the telepath's excitement rubbing off on him. He wondered if the others would be able to hear his own sentiments towards how he felt about this meeting. "I can't skate though," he added, his innocent words only adding to the cute face he used for convincing people. He was, however, not lying about not being able to skate.

He didn't want to be rude, and finally addressed Stella. "I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you yet, love," he smiled, his dark blue eyes holding her stunning redish pink ones, "name's Odion, at your service." He sat next to her then, glad he wasn't the only one parading around without skates.

Just what was Alice up to?

[Isabella Crane]

Isabella found she was at least steady enough on her feet to move in as the group converged. She felt confident while she had something to hold on to, using the railing around the rink to keep her feet from straying. Perhaps if this was only a date, a bit of private time for her and Alice she would take full advantage of needing that extra support, but sadly today wasn't the case.

She remained quiet for a moment, her blue eyes wandering over each and every one of them. She had a polite smile on her face, looking at Alice, Aki, Odion, and then Stella. Stella was unusual, her skin pale and her whole body seeming to be drained of any sign of life. She felt almost sorry for the girl because she knew that albinos had poor eyesight and would never be able to drive themselves... not that she was used to doing for herself, but not being able to would be dreadful.

She moved closer to Alice, tucking her arm tightly around her lovers. Aki's emotions seemed to radiate into her now and she suddenly felt a slight rush of enthusiasm. Her smile brightened and she pushed her lips together. Aki had asked if the group was ready to have fun and a small hum escaped Isabella's lips. Fun these days border lined what was right and moral. She glanced over at Alice wondering just what they were going to get into tonight.

Odion seemed to be making moves on Stella and Isabella's first thought was a mindless sausage jockey drooling over the china doll. But she took a step back and tried to think of how she acted around Alice sometimes. Still Alice was beautiful, Isabella found herself attractive also... together it seemed like an ideal pair. When you threw a male in there and their dangly anatomy, well it just kind of became a gross factor. She gave him a smile despite the fact she was a bit gender biased and hoped he would be charming enough once his hormones settled.

[Alice Halifax]

Alice and Aki split apart just long enough to round up the other members of the Family. Stella had accompanied Alice and Izzy here, much to the dismay of Izzy. Alice's lover was very jealous, as was Alice herself, but Alice had assured Izzy many times before they all left Hammel that Stella was not a threat to their relationship. Stella was collected piece of Alice's collection, as well as an addition to the ever growing number of the Family. This of course did not quell Izzy's jealousy or worry, and in some small manner, Alice found it all amusing. She wasn't finding amusement in Izzy's emotional suffering, but rather in the emotions themselves. Alice was clearly Izzy's first female companion and while Alice herself had been with a young woman or two, Izzy held a much more dear place in her heart. Izzy was indeed Alice's weakness and a very large and clear one. Alice would do anything to secure the safety and love of her sweet angel Isabella.

Alice skated in close to Izzy, hooking arms with her, giving her a small kiss on the lips to help quell Izzy's bad mood. Alice knew Izzy was hoping for a more private evening with her, but the matter at hand demanded full attention from all of them. Introductions were largely in order and the rules of the Family needed to be established. This group was going to be unbreakable and very tightly knit. Unlike other groups before them, the Family would indeed be just that, a true family. "Easy lover, we'll have our time later," Alice whispered to Izzy with a soft smile. "There are others to meet," she said, pulling Izzy toward Stella who sat there looking like some China doll. "Stella?," Alice said, letting the young woman know who was approaching. Stella's eyesight was poor and Alice pitied her for that, but Stella made up for that negative trait with many other positive ones. "The others are here precious, time to meet the rest of your new family," Alice said with a large smile as she held out her hand to the doll like Stella.

All the family was now together, Alice with Izzy and Stella and Aki with Odion. They all were together for the first time, a momentous occasion for sure. Odion retained his charm in the presence of so many lovely ladies, something which Alice wasn't too surprised to see. The link which Aki and Alice shared tingled and on the outskirts of her mind, Alice began to feel the other members of the Family. Aki was very gifted and no doubt with time and much effort, the family would be inseparable. "Oh, I'm getting chills from this moment," Alice said with a slight girly giggle, which in some way fit her and seemed out of place at the same time. "Now, we have much to discuss and Odion, you'll get your chance to meet all these lovely ladies in just a moment," Alice said, giving Odion a wink. Shall we find somewhere to sit, a table sort of out of the way from the rest of the masses in here?," she asked, looking from one member of the Family to the next.

(I'm gonna just sort of go out on a limb here and move the thread along a bit to save time and set the scene. Please forgive me if I step on anyone's toes.)

After all five of them were settled at a table off the side of the roller rink, Alice took a deep breath and smiled. Next to her at her right hand was Izzy, both of them entwined together at usual, holding hands like all good lovers do. Stella sat at Alice's left, close but not close enough to rile Izzy's jealous nature. Odion and Aki sat across from Alice, all of them so very nice and cozy, just like a family. "Tonight is just an introduction of sorts, a time for us all to get to know one another and to establish the goals of this Family. I picked each and everyone of you for various talents and skills you bring to the table, not to mention your social status. So, I think a small round of introductions are at hand. Who wants to introduce themselves first?," Alice asked, looking around at each member as she gently rubbed the back of Izzy's hand with her thumb.

[Stella Pinyin]

The music was loud, blazingly so, and the flashing lights were making Stella's eyes ache as she sat, looking in the direction of her feet to lesson the onslaught. Aki's voice had her head rising like a meer cat and she smiled somewhat hesitantly, at the telepath she'd met before, before looking around quickly as someone sat next to her. It was very easy to sneak up on the girl, and slightly startled, she nodded and tried again to smile.

"Ah, I'm Stella," she said quietly, confused at his colloquialism. Another friend of Alice's, and she tried to focus as she saw his face look into hers, but her pupils would not still and she looked down quickly. It was then Alice came in and Stella gratefully took her hand, her smile returning. She was happy, in such a crowd, to have someone to show her the way; Alice had asked her to leave her cane at home and the poor sighted girl honestly felt, well, blind without it.

As she sat down where Alice had directed her and started speaking, Stella ran her fingertips over the smooth table top. There were grooves and ridges there, from drinks being set down and bored people carving their names. To be honest, a lot of what Alice was saying seemed, well, strange to Stella. The idea of a family was, well, very nice, but the girl from Hong Kong didn't see what talents she had to bring, and as for social status... Naomi had told her a blogger found her friendship with Zac intersting but that was it, and surely not enough.

Still, when Alice asked, that strange compelling feeling washed through Stella's mind and she found herself, against all her usual character traits, speaking up. "I'm Stella," she said, looking up with unfocused eyes. "Stella Pinyin, but my chinese name is Liu Xiaodan." That was something she did not exactly share a lot... in fact, she had never really brought it up and for a moment the girl looked confused before her face smoothed over as she relaxed. "I, ah, came to Hammel last year."

Was that enough? She glanced at Alice quickly, hoping so. Even with prompting, hypnotic or otherwise, there was only so much she could say before the quiet girl began to feel uncomfortable.

[Aki Welland]

The whole group was so..grande when they were together. Aki basked in the warmth that the connected minds brought to her, a rainbow of thoughts and emotions. Really, the link was strong enough for her to have a basic idea of what the others were thinking, but not hear the exact thoughts. She rather enjoyed being that close to other people. Aki stretched over the booth, her body long and sinuous looking. She was totlally relaxed, more so than she was around most other people. But for some reason she knew she could trust this group.

When Stella introduced herself Aki was a little surprised. Again, through the connection she felt a strange bit of...interference in Stella's mind. She didn't say anything though because she really didn't know anything about it or how it worked. She could only guess, which could be a dangerous thing. Stella had said her Chinese name, which was something Aki didn't know. It was a really pretty name, at least in the telepaths opinion.

Aki smiled and nodded her head slightly to Stella.
" Well then, If we're doing introductions I might as well join in. I'm Aki, but I think you all know that already. I've been here at Hammel for about five years."

[Odion Martins]

Odion was more than pleased to be seated next to the thought reader. Alice still had that pull about her, and the redhead like to think it was due to her beauty as much as her power. It was good to know the purpose of this journey, but he had no social status, so he couldn’t help the slightly confused expression that crossed his face.

Nodding politely at Stella’s introduction, Odion was glad to hear he wasn’t the only new comer to Pilot Ridge. Next was Aki and he presumed he was next, as Isabella’s position in the group was obviously known. “Hi I’m Odion, and I’m an alcoholic,” he managed a coy smile, but he was actually being partially truthful, “been ‘ere since September.” He passed the mental baton to however wanted to go next. He wasn’t sure where Alice wanted this to go and he didn’t want to steal the spotlight from her, although he had the feeling that Alice wanted to se Aki’s power to connect them all today.

The ginger shot a smile at the three women across from him, before casting a glance at Aki, getting a glimpse of her thoughts every now and then. She already knew she was in his good books, and that was a very rare place to be. Odion wondered how Alice would be able to have a good handle on such a vast group of people if it weren’t for her powers.

“Anything else you’d like to know, love?” He asked the blonde then, their self-appointed leader.

[Alice Halifax]

The interaction, the group connection, it was all thrilling to Alice in varying levels. Granted this little scheduled meeting was more like a slumber party than any real organized meeting, but this was how Alice operated. Hiding in plain sight, making the most serious of events seems accidental or all in all harmless. There wasn't any hiding of the connection all of them were having and would have with one another. There were too many prying eyes at Hammel, especially the one known as Rumor. In no time word of the Family would circulate through Hammel, small at first but then larger with each Family gathering. So, in proper reaction, Alice would have to spread some interesting rumors of her own. In theory, allowing the populace of Hammel to whisper dark silly paranoid rumors about the Family would then result in any actual information being tainted and unbelievable. It was a risky gambit, but one which Alice was sure would pay off.

Introduction went silent for a moment, with Alice patiently waiting with baited breath. Who would go first, who would be the brave one? To Alice's surprise, it wasn't Aki, but Stella who spoke up first. Stella was the most unlikely of all candidates to be drug into the family, but Alice saw something there which others did not, as she did with the other members as well. Alice's attention focused on Stella as she spoke more plainly than Alice had ever heard her speak. The revelation of her ''true'' name gave Alice a cause to smile. Such a revelation might not have meant much to others, but Alice knew the power in a name. For Stella to reveal this much of herself, meant she must have felt accepted, yet another cause for that sense of victory for Alice. "Beautiful Xiaodan," Alice said using Stella's "true" name.

As expected, Aki appeared the most comfortable of the members, aside from Alice. She was relaxed and had an almost overwhelming sense of confidence about her. Alice could feel their mental connection pushing at her mind and wondered if the connection with the others was as strong. It was quite curious and thrilling to be in a link with someone like this, but it also could prove dangerous. Squeezing Isabella's hand tighter, Alice tried to focus her thoughts on her lover to help ground her mind in its proper place. Aki showed promise of great power in her ability, but would the young woman realize this herself?

Odion was the last member to introduce himself, and in a fashion befitting him, her made such a grand impression. Odion was a perfect choice for a founding member of the family. He had a fantastic grasp of her ability and was willing to bend or break the rules of society if necessary to get what he wanted. The Family weren't some two bit thugs or organized mob, they were entrepreneurs who were going to go far in the world. They walked the thin line of right and wrong, crossing briefly to one side or the other for as long as it took to succeed in their plans. As always, Odion made Alice giggle a bit. He had that rough charm about him which sort of put a girl under his thumb. Alice would have to be careful around him lest she find herself being the one manipulated. Odion might not have had the social status that Alice, Izzy, and Aki, had, but that was what made him so perfect. Odion was from the streets so to speak and that meant he knew things which those like Alice would not know. He would have a better understanding of the everyday life of those who operated under the city shadows.

"Charming as usual Odion," Alice said with a wink before squeezing Izzy's hand. "I believe Aki already knows a little of who Bella is and I'll fill the rest of you in on her later. Just remember, she's off limits," Alice said, casting a watchful eye toward Odion. "As for me, well, we've met or you wouldn't be here. I'm sure the more pressing question is why we are all here. The answer to that is quite simple really," Alice said, looking to each member of the family in turn. "Each of us has the potential to be successful in this world, but success is only fleeting. Together, we have the potential to run this world.....or at least a very important part of it. Aki didn't even move from her confortable position as Alice spoke. It wasn't a show of disrespect, more a show of trust. Aki trusted all of them so much she was willing to be the sneaky, slither, sensual person she usually covered with her prankster side.
