The Basics
Name: Riley Dean Adams
Nicknames: None that he’s aware of
Age: 50 (Aug 3rd 1961)
Orientation: Homosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Landscape artist
Powers: Cell regeneration and biological manipulation. The former started way back when he was a toddler which manifested to the latter in after years when he hit puberty
Play By: Jeffrey Dean Morgan
The Details
Hair Color: Medium brown
Eye Color: Light green
Any Piercings? No
Any Tattoos? A tribal tattoo around his left arm, always well hidden under his long sleeve t-shirts
Any Scars? Over his heart where he had a heart transplant when he was twenty.
General Appearance: His look is naturally disheveled. He always looks like he just rolled out of bed and most of the time, that’s actually the case. He has shaggy medium brown hair that falls down his ears. With a strong set jaw, and dimples the size of craters when he smiles, Riley actually has a sweet almost boyish face still.
He has light green eyes that darken whenever his past is mentioned. He’s pretty laidback when it comes to style, choosing earthy tones, plain t-shirts, scuffed jeans, jean jackets or leather, he doesn’t really care much. He hasn’t shopped for himself for quite some time.
Riley’s quite tall, his lean 6’6” frame still demands attention despite him being rather shy. Even if he hunches it doesn’t do much good. His work keeps him fit and it shows even under the layers of clothes he is usually seen in. Even without the jackets and extra tees, he’s usually seen with loose tees.
Personality: Riley is a healer. He’s gentle, caring and always roots for the underdog. He’s generally a happy person despite not having a happy past. He attributes his calmness to how his mother used to be when she was still alive. He modeled himself after her mostly and has built his character around her silent confidence, humble pride and genuine concern for everyone else besides herself.
He is always around to lend a helping hand even when the person refuses to ask or doesn’t want it at all. He loves freely and unconditionally. This might be misconstrued as him being a masochist and a pushover but he knows how to stand his ground. He is loyal to a fault and will stand by his friends and loved ones no matter what.
His quietness is sometimes taken for aloofness, but he's anything but emotionally uninvolved. He's highly observant and empathetic, sometimes understanding better than others their motivations and emotions.
If he doesn't receive positive reinforcement he succumbs to quiet insecurity. He would never actively seek out validation, however, as he doesn't want people to think he's the sort to just fish for compliments.
Riley's critical of himself and acutely aware of his own failings but shows more patience with the imperfections of others. His expectations of his own ability to understand the problems of others occasionally causes him problems as he will refuse to bring whatever is troubling him to the attention of the offender out of a belief he would be able to bear the annoyance were he only needed them to be patient and gracious enough.

- Being in the rain. Not in a ‘All By Myself’ way. More of a ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ way.
Dislikes:

- Clacking noises from high heels
- Buying a brand
- He dislikes it when stores use plastic bags instead of paper
- Chocolates. He has an allergic reaction to cocoa beans.

- Not finding a person who can settle for him
- Horses. He got bucked off one once and kicked right in the chest. He does admire them though.
- Being physically hurt by another. Emotional hurt isn't always intentional but if someone physically hurt him it would probably be intentional and even though he can heal himself that would actually be more emotionally damaging than someone disliking or rejecting him or try to use harsh words to hurt him.
Secret:
- His past has been a big black cloud over his head, that’s his biggest secret for now.
- Nobody knows he has a basement that he often hides into when he’s particularly down about something
- He secretly wants to be flirted with but he’s always too embarrassed that he doesn’t know how to properly flirt back.
- Every time he sees a happy family, he cringes because he wishes that should have been him.

History
Riley was five when the abuse started. At first, it was just a shove every now and then and a harsh word but Riley couldn’t understand why at the time. But it got worst when his body seemed to recover way too fast for his father’s liking and it just made him even more frustrated that he doesn’t leave a mark on the boy so the beatings get worse and worse. His mother suffers the same abuse when she tries to protect him and if she hadn’t managed to get pregnant when she did, they would have probably suffered even worst.
For the most part, Riley blocked his childhood because it was way too painful. The pain didn’t come much from the physical abuse but by the fact that his father would actually do it to him just because he could. Even though his body doesn’t show any of the abuse he had been inflicted upon, he flinches every time he sees a sharp object or anything that could potentially hurt someone.
At the age of twelve, a strange man came to his house while he was playing in the garden. The visit had shaken his father to the core but with little hesitation, the man let him go, thinking he would be better off without the son he thinks is a freak. All the while, twelve year old Riley was in the garden fixing a broken leg on a possum and before he knew it, he was whisked away by two adults that came out of a nondescript car to an unknown location. He thought he would never see his family again.
During his time away from both his parents and little sister he thought had completely abandoned him, Riley learned to control a lot of things, learning about his abilities and honing it to perfection. He graduated from Hammel Institute at the age of 17 only to go back home to his home that was already occupied by another family. It took him 2 years to finally locate his mother whom by that time had already left his father and was living a cush life with Janice who was by then all grown up. They both welcomed him with open arms.
He was just starting his courses at Brown when they had a little scare after Riley tried to help a girl who was suffering from having a heart too big for her body. The malformation was transferred to him and it took an actual heart transplant for him to get better because of it. Despite the scare, he went back to school and finally graduated as a draughtsman at the age of 25.
Riley went on to start his own business with help from his mother and by the time he was 29, his landscaping business ‘Patch Adams’ bragged a huge clientele base and he continued on having success. His business brought in a few exceptional workers and one turned out to be the guy who would change Riley’s life in a very big way. The relationship between the mild-mannered Riley and the passionate Michael Knowles was one for the books and he didn’t run away when Riley confessed his true nature. It apparently just made Michael think Riley was that much more special.
By their eighth year anniversary, things started to crumble when Michael was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. And at about the same time, his mother passed on of natural causes. Riley couldn’t believe he lost his mother so suddenly and so tries to heal Michael as sort of a compensation for not having seen it coming with his mother but Michael refused to, knowing there was a chance that Riley could very well transfer his disease into himself and he didn’t want to leave something that big to chance.
Michael passed away in his apartment with Riley by his side. It took a long time for Riley to get past the pain but when he got back to his business, he was better than ever. He even got a gig to redo a whole community which is what he is currently still working on. He’s surrounding himself with people who have fascinating and amazing stories to tell, and he’s slowly rebuilding the pieces of his heart by making beautiful landscapes.
Roleplay Example
"I think I'm in love with her." The flushed look on his face told me everything without him even saying it. I was doomed. The boy I have been pining for was in love with my sworn enemy.
"Who?" intelligent me feigned ignorance, hoping he would catch the hint that I was not in the mood to talk. Thick-headed him continued. "Leia. I'm in love with Leia. Help me, girl!"
She has a name and I'm...girl?
"What do you want?" I'm quite surprised and very proud of the fact that despite everything that was happening, I was still under control; cool and calm.
"Talk to her for me. I mean you're girls...you talk don't you?" he asked. Thickheaded idiot.
If by talk you mean gouging each other's eyes out and ripping each other's hair and clothes apart then yeah sure we talk...a LOT.
"Yeah we talk." I answer simply. And then the puppy dog eyes come out; those light blue irises surrounded by intense black, hands up in a clasped manner, full lips pouting.
Uh oh. No...don't succumb to his every whim like you always do whenever that look surfaces. Oh girl, give yourself some respect. Where is your dignity and pride? Don't say yes...girl don't...say...
"Sure, I'll talk to her."
No...
His whole body visibly lights up; his eyes shine, his smile widens, the hands come up to my head and ruffle my hair, just like petting a puppy. My God. I am his bitch.
I single-handedly brought the term puppy love to a whole new level.
Great.
