The Basics
Name: Jack Gallagher Montoya
Nicknames: Sometimes people will call him Aussie, because of his background.

Powers: Adaption in Water- Jack's abilities manifest as the ability to adapt to water. He is completely normal in almost all aspects, but when he has fully submerged or partially submerged in water for more than two minutes, Jack adapts to his environment. His toes and fingers will become webbed, allowing him to swim faster. His skin will become covered in skin-colored scales that help his body retain heat in water. Three gills will form on both sides of the boys neck in slits, allowing him to breath under water. He will grow transparent eyelids under his regular eyelids to shield his eyes from the watery environment. A small fin-like crest will appear as a ridge along the middle of his back, running up and down the spine. And finally, two ridges, just like the one on his spine, will also form on his forearms, one on either arm. The hair on his body will not be affected by this change.
Once he is removed from water, he will quickly turn back into normal. It will take around one minute for him to return back to normal. During activities that require water to touch him, such as showers, and squirt gun fights, the teen will not be affected in such a dramatic way. He might find a scale here or there on his body, but he will not begin to transform like when he fully in the water.
Because of these adaptions, he usually finds himself insanely hungry right after one happens. After he is removed from water, and reverts back to his normal form, he gets pretty intense head aches. He has a higher metabolism then a lot of people, so he is usually found snacking on something.

General Appearance:
Jack could be considered a fine specimen of teenage guy. He has dirty blonde hair that he use to let grow out when he lived in Austrialia, and yes, it is natural. During his time at Hammel, he adopted a shorter haircut that he styles to keep above his eyes. It can get messy from time to time, but he looks good in it still the same. His bushy eyebrows are darker than his hair, but just like his sister's, they are natural too. Jack's dark brown eyes captivate a lot of people that pass by. His face has a few freckles spread across it in random places, and in summer, they are more evident. Needless to say, he is easy on the eyes.
Jack is tan from his years of living in Australia and being outdoors. He is in pretty good physical condition and shows for it two, he has pretty good muscle definition. Besides this, jack stands at exactly Six feet tall, being at least around three inches taller than his sister Blaire, and taller then a lot of people at the school. Because of his height, Jack always has a little bit of confident swagger in his step, holding himself up high. He doesn't do it to appear superior to people, he is just proud of what he has. Jack also speaks in an Australian accent, just like his sister.
Like most guys, Jack wears clothes that look good on him. He doesn't spend hours seeing what outfit he should be wearing, or what matches with what. In winter he is always found with a jacket, jeans, and sneakers. In the summer, he wears t-shirts, cargo shorts, and shoes or sandals. He is known to laze around in his boxers when he is inside the safety of his own dorm though.
Personality: Like all Montoya's, Jack's biggest trait would have to be his confidence. He is fun loving, believes in his abilities, and is always walking around campus with his head held high. He knows that a lot of girls find him attractive, but he hardly ever goes around purposely flirting with them. This doesn't stop him from being a bit rouge-ish and charming from time to time to impress girls. He is not the type to sleep around, but he knows he could he he wanted too. Because of his confidence, he does better in a social environment, constantly making new friends and showing off to them. Even though he is pretty confident in a lot of things, he can also be self concious about his transformations.
Jack loves to be artistic, he draws a lot, plays the guitar, and sometimes cooks. He doesn't think he would ever be in a band, but he does like to pull out his guitar and play a few songs, and even sing once in a while, to calm down if he gets worked up. He also likes to write, short stories mostly, and he does extremely well in creative writing courses at Hammel. Because of this artistic side of him, he also tends to find a lot of things boring. Because of this, he likes to decorate a lot of things to add his own personal touch. This decorating could hardly be considered a girly aspect though, he often uses knick knacks from Austrailia, such as boomerangs and shark teeth, to brighten up a room.
Jack is sports oriented, but not terribly so. Even though he is pretty strong and tall, he refuses to go into any contact sports for fear of brain injuries when he is older. He also doesn't swim much for excersize because of his transforations. His transformations are also the reason why he does not try out for the swim team, having a fish boy on the team is hardly fair.
His confidence is also sometimes one of his greatest weaknesses. because he is so sure of himself, he hardly backs down from anything, whether it be dares, challanges, or goals, he will always go for them. This is bad because he sets himself up for failiure much of the time, when something he is told can't be done actually can't be done. He also tends to hurt himself a lot, because of his tendency to not back down from dares and challanges. Because of this he might end up with a broken bone or two every year, and more then a fare amount of scratches and bruises. He can also be a very stubborn person when it comes to ideas already set in his head.
Even so, he will do just about anything for his friends, and is a very loyal person. Once you have made him your enemy, he will follow the role until the person relents. He adores his family, expecialy his smallest sister, but now that he is living in Vermont where his older sister lives, his relationship with her has grown back to what it use too be. He is happy for that.

History
Jack was born to Addison Montoya and Jackson Montoya in June. He was the second born child of the family. His bigger sister, Blaire Montoya was seven years older then him. Addison Montoya had Blaire when she was seventeen years old, and because she decided to keep the baby and not give it up to adoption or have an abortion, she was disowned. His father, Jackson Montoya, who he was named after, lived off his parents good fortune by working for their company while going to college to become more educated at the same time. Blaire was raised by her grandparents a lot when she was young, and because of this Jack's mom and dad had waited seven years before trying for another kid.
Because they had waited and worked hard for seven years before having jack, he was born into a stable and loving home. His parents where there even though they had full time jobs as video game engine developers. Jack's early life was easy and smooth because of this. He was little, so he spent most of his time in doors playing with toys and never worrying about anything. He grew up quickly, flying through preschool like there was no tomorrow. They do grow up fast, and in no time Jack reached the tender age of six. At this age, something happened that would alter his life to a pretty good degree, even though he wasn't yet aware of it.
His sister had hit puberty, and her powers over time had finally surfaced. He didn't hear much about, and then one day, she was gone from his life. His parents told him that she had to go off to a school for special kids. At first, he was jelouse, wondering why his sister was so special. But years passed and he moved on, the memory of his sister going to the back of his head as he grew. Elementary school wasn't really hard for him, he grew and developed friendships like most kids in his grade. he became one of the popular and cute little kids that always found himself in baby relationships. He developed his athletic tendancies here, always rough housing and playing football with the other boys in the play ground. When he was ten, his family had saved up enough money to move the family to America, so they left their town in Australia in the dust and moved to New York.
When he graduated from elementary school and went on too middle school, he found passion in athletics and his art class. He had a knack for art, and kept at it throughout the year. At one point or another, he made a friend who knew how to play the guitar, and he taught jack how to play too. His parents gave him a guitar for christmas and he fell in love with it, keeping it to this day. His relationship with his older sister almost vanished into non-existance, because she was still in a meta school. They hardly ever talked to each other, and they hardly ever visited her. For this reason, Jack's parents were a bit obsessive over him, always wanting to be around him.
He spent his sixth grade summer metophorically "attached" to his parents. They wanted to be there and spend time with him, because he was there son and they really couldn't with Blaire. The underlying reason was because Jack could be a meta too, but they never used that as a reason, they didn't want to believe it was true. During that summer, when he turned 13, his mom and dad took him to a public pool to swim off the heat of the city. At first as he swam, nothing appeared to be wrong, but in the clear waters of the pool his parents watched in horror as he slowly adapted. At first, they thought it would be a permanent change, but on the car ride home he turned back to normal. A recruiter from the Hammel Institute was there within a week and he was whisked off to Vermont, to start a new life in Hammel.
By the time he got there his sister was pretty much out the door, but their relationship grew. Around that time, his mom had her third child, his younger sister Aveline. They had not seen each other in a while, so things at first were awkward in trying, but they eventually found common ground on many things and their relationship rounded out. He spent much of his free time during his first years of Hammel finding every excuse to hang around town with his sister. The two became best friends quickly. Now jack is just living his life at the school, trying to make the best out of what he can.
