The Basics
Name: Tsukiko Aoki
Nicknames: most Americans have difficulty with the 'tsu' sound, so her name is routinely shortened to "Kiko"
Age: 33
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Pediatrician at Maddock Hospital
Powers: Non-powered
Play By: Saki Aibu
The Details
Hair Color: Dark brown. She highlights it to a reddish brown
Eye Color: Brown
Any Piercings? Double pierced ears
Any Tattoos? Nope
Any Scars? A dog bit her on the calf when she was 12 and the mark can still be seen
General Appearance:
Tsukiko has a very sweet-faced, girl-next-door appearance. Her wardrobe is casual and unassuming, feminine but not flamboyantly so. Capris and boot cut jeans are paired with tank tops or turtlenecks, depending on the season. Hoodies are usually monochromatic, shoes have low heels if any. Dresses are long and loose. She tends toward a lot of navy, white and washed out looking reds. Nothing too bright or ostentatious as she is uninterested in bringing too much attention to herself.
Her hair is shoulder length, though she plays with style a bit by flipping the bottom out or in depending on her mood. It's easy to wash and maintain and if she wants to be lazy and run out the door without styling it, she can do so and it will look perfectly acceptable.
At 5'5" she's average height. She's slim to the point that some people consider her underweight (please, no more jokes about force feeding her burgers) and she has a lack of curves she finds depressing when she thinks about it -- sometimes she thinks she looks more like a teenage girl than a grown woman -- but generally she's satisfied with the way she looks.
Personality:
Tsukiko isn't the stereotypical passive Japanese girl, nor does she have the cutesy, exuberant cheerfulness that is sometimes expected by the Japanophiles. She's blunt without fitting the tsundere trope and she's kind-hearted without being a doormat.
These blunt tendencies sometimes cause problems. After all, she's not going to sugar coat her opinion just for you. She doesn't intend to hurt feelings, but she's not about to lie, either. In fact, she's incapable of lying, which means that manipulation of any kind is beyond her. It isn't that she doesn't understand how to be manipulative, it's that she'll tell her victim exactly what she was doing immediately after. For better or worse you can always expect to know where you stand with her.
Blunt honesty is not code for tearing people down and being a bitch, though. Most of the time her opinions are relatively positive; she's just as willing to share her positive opinions as her negative ones. As well, she's rarely sarcastic, and tends not to appreciate people who rely on sarcasm to communicate. Also, don't try any passive-aggressive shit on her. Just because she doesn't use it doesn't mean she doesn't recognize it, and she'll call it out when she sees it.
While she doesn't have difficulty speaking her mind, she's not exactly a social butterfly. She'll be friendly when spoken to, but she doesn't go out of her way to make new friends. She's perfectly content with the ones she has, and if she has an option between staying home and reading or going to a party then she'll choose the book every time.
She's not an obsessive geek like her boyfriend, but she can appreciate a cheesy sci-fi movie as much as the next girl, and she'll occasionally deign to play video games with her man. She prefers games where they work together over anything that pits them against one another, but only because he always wins if they're competing, and lord knows she can be competitive. If she really wanted to beat him, she'd have to practice without him, and she's just not willing to do that. That doesn't mean she's going to enjoy playing against him knowing he's better than her, though, and she sure wouldn't appreciate it if he let her win, so cooperative mode it is.

History
Mokomichi Aoki moved to the Burlington, Vermont as a college student where he met Rika Takaesu. Rika was second generation Japanese-American. The two hadn't been dating a year before they were married, and another year after that, on May 21st 1978, little Tsukiko was born, followed several years later by sisters Hinata and Hoshimi.
Despite having a traditional Japanese name Tsukiko was always a typical American girl. She liked clothes (but nothing too ostentatious or revealing) and she liked boys and she liked going to the mall. She made good grades because she was a good girl, and good girls made good grades. Any girl who made below a B was an outcast, undesirable: girls who made below a B were either the socially inept or self-consciously rebellious, or, later in her school years, the sexually promiscuous. None of these categories could describe Tsukiko, and in a sub-conscious effort to not be classified as any of those things she strove to make the best grades she could. This was more difficult for her than for some of her classmates by virtue of the fact that Tsukiko was dyslexic, but with her work ethic and some excellent and sympathetic teachers this didn't impact her grades too badly.
As a toddler her parents enrolled her in gymnastics largely for the babysitting, but she stuck with it, finding joy in tumbling and bouncing and, more importantly, in the connections she forged with the other girls.
In high school her gymnastic credentials helped her land a spot on the Cheerleading squad, and while this didn't exactly catapult her into instant popularity it ensured that she was at least respected. The other cheerleaders were her primary social circle because they were all too busy doing cheer activities to interact much with anyone else.
While she got along with her sisters well enough the age gap was too great for them to be particularly close. They weren't even in school together for most of their education, let alone did they run in the same social circles.
After high school Tsukiko went off to Maryland for school, where she spent her undergraduate years trying to decide exactly what it was she wanted to do. She knew she liked children but her parents weren't particularly keen on her original idea of teacher; that simply didn't pay enough.
It was a friend's unplanned pregnancy that made the decision for her. The pediatrician the other girl took her new baby to was funny, kind and beyond helpful. Tsukiko decided that was what she wanted to do with her life and promptly turned her energies toward applying for medical school.
After the social-life-destroying horrors of medical school she returned home to Vermont, wishing to complete her residency close to home. Both her sisters had stayed nearby and she saw no pressing reason to stay away, so she applied for residency at Maddock Hospital.
While completing her residency she met Roman Tilford, an adorably clueless geek of a man. At first he didn't seem to realize she was flirting with him, but her tenacity and directness won out in the end (or rather, she had to flat out ask him out after he infuriatingly refused to do so) and now the two are a happy couple.
She was pleased to be allowed to stay on at Maddock, as family and paramour are all in Vermont. Now her only question is whether Roman will ever propose to her or if she'll have to do it for him.
