General Appearance:
Walter looks pretty good for his age, if he does say so himself. Sure, he's got slight lines carved into the sides of his mouth, and at the corner of his eyes, but all the same. His hair is still naturally brown and mostly all on his head. His hairline is receding slightly, but he's never been a vain man, so this doesn't really bother him. He dresses well: slacks and button down shirts and a jacket are usually his choice of clothes, although he is not opposed to jeans and a T-shirt when he feels like relaxing. He also really likes ties. Walter is about 5'10 and maaay be slightly overweight, although he used to be rather fit in his youth. He has kind eyes and a friendly smile.
Personality: Walter gives off a sort of shy and awkward first impression, especially when introduced next to his more effervescent and expressive wife. Walter is certainly quieter, and seeks to be friends with a much smaller amount of people, but he is by no means insecure. Walter tries to exude a quiet confidence and general self-assuredness. His tone of voice is usually quieter, and he rarely shouts. When he gets angry, which is rare, his words come out clipped, but always quiet. He has a terrible sense of humor, and when he tells jokes, they come out corny or he gets confused and you never get the end of the story. That being said, he smiles often and isn't bothered by people more extroverted than himself, which is good, because his wife certainly is. He is affectionate and comfortable with giving and receiving affection.
However, despite being a relatively confident individual, he is also passive to a fault. He doesn't see the need to push what he wants on other people, but that also means that sometimes it's hard to tell what Walter wants at all. He isn't weak-willed, but he is content to let people do what they will for the most part. He is wiser about picking his battles, but sometimes he doesn't say anything when he's bothered, which has caused frustration with his friends and family.

History
Walter was born in May, 1962 in New Hampshire to Ralph and Martha Jenkins. An only child, he could very well have been a spoiled brat, demanding all his parents’ attention. However, Walter began life as an unassuming child and was more than content to play by himself as his father worked and his mother cleaned and worked in her garden. His earliest memory was of tulips. However, once he grew a little older, his father would always keep the weekend free so that he could take Walter to the park and teach him how to play Basketball. He wasn’t very tall, but he could handle the ball well, and he loved the time he got with his father.
When he was thirteen, he was sitting in class and, like most thirteen year olds, not completely invested in his work. He was busy staring at his pencil before he realized he was making it move. With wide eyes and furtive glances, Walter spent the rest of his class moving the pencil back and forth, torn between glee and fear. When class was dismissed, he sprinted home and loudly called his parents into their living room to show them what had happened. Although his parents were shocked and initially worried about their son’s health, they did not reject him when recruiters from Hammel came to tell them about metahumans and take their son to Vermont for training. Although he would miss his parents, he went without a fuss, curious as to what he would learn and discover.
His time at Hammel was uneventful, all things considered. True, his roommate kept setting the curtains on fire and his lab partner frequently turned purple, but he was happy and learning. What also helped with the transition was that Hammel had a Basketball team. Walter played Basketball for Hammel the entire duration of his education there, and loved every minute of it. His power was never much to comment on, so nobody could accuse him of cheating, since he couldn’t even pick up or control something the weight and size of a Basketball. He saw his parents on break and did well in school. It was a good time.
He graduated when he was nineteen and was accepted into University of Vermont to major in biology. He had given a good deal of thought as to what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Walter wanted to be a nurse. Naturally, having an aspiration to be a male nurse garnered some ridicule, but Walter took it patiently in stride. His parents were proud, if not a little amused, of him, and supported him in his education.
When he was in his sophomore year, he was on his way to the grocery store when someone rear-ended him. Startled, he pulled over and stepped out of the car, his license and registration in hand, to see if any harm had been done to the other person. Stepping out of the car next to him was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen—a flurry of bright, cheerful colors and rushed, frantic apologies. Walter was tongue-tied and startled, but somehow managed to assure the woman that he was all right and introduce himself. Her name was Debra and she was a senior, and once she was sure that Walter wasn’t hurt or angry, she became dazzlingly friendly. They left friends, and Walter was never really sure how it happened that they eventually started dating.
Debra obviously graduated earlier than Walter, but she stuck around to get her teaching credentials. When he was in his senior year, he decided that he wanted to marry her. It took him the rest of the year to work up the courage, and they were married a few months after they graduated.
Of course, after he graduated with an undergraduate degree in biology, he had to stay in school a little longer. He spent three difficult years in nursing school while Debra taught high school. When he was a certified nurse, they toyed with the idea of different jobs until they both applied to work at Hammel. They moved to Pilot Ridge before the start of the new semester and settled in with their lives.
The only possible source of discontent in their lives was that they both wanted children. Walter knew that Debra was frustrated that she couldn’t have them on her own, and he did his level best to limit any disappointment he had upon finding this out. It wasn’t her fault, and being upset about it wouldn’t solve anything. They looked into adoption, but the process was exhausting and after a few false starts, they decided to give it a rest for a while. Nowadays, they go to rallies and watch movies and Walter frets about Debra’s driving and she makes fun of him for being a worrier.
