Any Scars? several scrapes and cuts that turned to scars, however the most prominent is a scar through his left eyebrow.
General Appearance:
Lani is average height not overly tall or short. He is very slender and has long lean muscles. He is occasionally assumed to be weak but he the complete opposite. He is very flexible; one must be when slipping into windows and disappearing through thin alleys. He keeps his hair cropped short and will get it cut the instant it drifts over his ears. Lani has a face that is often covered with a melancholy expression. Though when he plays tricks and jokes around his face is graced with light from his smile making him the brightest in the room. His face always has an impish light about it like he was planning something secret. He has a scar through his left eyebrow that is a shade lighter than the skin around it and sometimes is highlighted if he is out in the sun and burns.
Lani is a very casual dresser. He throws on whatever shirt happens to come into his hands and a pair of jeans and sneakers. However this is where his carelessness ends. When he is out stealing something he dresses very carefully. He wears tight pants and a tight shirt of charcoal and smoky colors. He covers his face with smudges of dirt and mud. He could care less if he matched but he also figures you can’t go wrong with dark colors. He likes to wear shoes that he personally modified to have thin soles when he is out on the rooftops so that his feet can be more flexible. Otherwise he just had sneakers.
Personality:
To call Lan a lone wolf would be unfair. He is not a loner by want but by a need in his mind. He connects with people very well and makes friends easily but that is where the connections usually end. He is too afraid to get close to people for fear of rejection and getting hurt. He likes to have people around him but it also terrifies him. He is a very good person, he just has confused morals. He isn’t sure what is necessarily right of wrong anymore. He is kind and very empathetic however it is hard to get Lan to be sympathetic after what he has been through.
He tries very hard to be approachable but often comes off as aloof and rude when he is just extremely shy. He keeps a tight hold on his secrets and doesn’t let anyone see what he is thinking. He has a barrier around his heart and sometimes feels the metaphorical ice pushing him inward and the ice has gotten into his eyes and there is a cold quality of his eyes. Lan has little faith in people and never trusts too soon. He keeps a close guard over his heart and has never had a feeling of love outside of his family. He is terrible at matters of the heart.

History
Lani was six when his sister was born. At first he felt put out because his parents were focusing completely on this little baby. They stayed with her and left him to tuck himself in and even that wasn’t enough. It would cry and cry and cry. Then one night he went in with his mother her loving hand on his head petting it gently. Then he saw Caroline. She was adorable. She held her stubby little hands out and his mother picked her up and put her right into Lani’s arm. Shocked and unsure what to do she steered him to a chair and sat with him while he helped give Caroline her bottle. He held her often after that even with his parents not around; he just couldn’t get enough of this little delight. He was so happy he was a big brother. He would protect her from everything.
But he couldn’t protect her from everything. For Caroline’s fifth birthday she got a cancer diagnosis. The family was devastated. His mother cried and his father poured over the medical bill for hours on end. Lan a child of eleven didn’t know any better and started to pick pocket. When he came home with a considerable amount of change his parents were appalled but then an idea crossed them and they pushed him to train and get better at this new skill of his. Lan wanted Caroline to get better and he knew money was what they needed and suddenly life seemed to look up. He started to get bold and rob nearby businesses and homes. Never of anything they couldn’t use. Although his skill was useful his parents feared that his delinquency would upset his sister and make her worse they prevented him from seeing her. They didn’t know the monster they had created and he would sneak into her window at night and tell her stories. Stories about witches and dragons and princesses. She would laugh and they would stay up for hours talking.
After a year of suffering Caroline’s disease finally let it’s her out of its debilitating hands. The family celebrated and Lani was finally able to see her and they could be together during the day. His mother and father stopped ignoring their sun and Lani was happy able to hug and be a family again. He would take Caroline for walks outside and his parents had never been happier. However, no matter what his parents did they couldn’t break him of his bad habit. He had been pushed into it and couldn’t stop. It was like an addiction only his was to the adrenaline rush. He could sneak out of the house no matter what locks his parents placed on the windows and he would be out just to be out sometimes. Rushing over rooftops just to feel free. It was one of the nights that his power first manifested itself.
He had been slipping into a local business when he was leaving he was suddenly surrounded by sirens and police. Holding his spoils close to his chest he froze terrified as he was blinded by light. He heard a voice from the darkness call out to him to surrender. In a panic he withdrew and found something in his mind he hadn’t realized had been there before. He touched it and suddenly the cars started moving and suddenly one flew over their heads and into a nearby building. Startling not only the police but himself he fled and things flying around him at every turn. He couldn’t stop it and the only thing it was doing was getting in the way and giving him an excruciating headache. Terrified Lani didn’t go home. Instead he just kept running. He threw off his loot and just kept going. He collapsed under a bridge with a homeless man who offered him water and food. He wouldn’t answer the man’s questions or even speak more than small sentences to him.
It was that morning when he awoke that he found himself face to face with someone. She told Lan that his parents were desperately looking for him. He didn’t answer and that was when she told him that she knew where he could learn control. Startled that she knew about this thing he could do he accidentally shook the bridge he was under threatening to bring it down on them both. Terrified he pulled back on himself flinging slicks and leaves around. When she confronted him about this lack of control he started running again. Home this time. He fell into his mother’s arms when the door opened for him. He babbled out a mixture of an apology and an explanation. He terrified his parents by making the table dance in the air. Caroline was terrified and when she looked at him she screamed and fled. The rejection struck him like lightning and the table came crashing down.
It seemed like moments late that the woman appeared at the door again. She spoke to Lan’s parents while he sat in the other room listening. Caroline slowly approached him and when he looked at her with agony in his eyes she came over and sat with him. About an hour later his parents had him packing. There were tears and yelling but untimely a very unhappy Lani was packed and in a car headed for some institute. Angered and betrayed that his parents would send him off so quickly Lani withdrew into himself and refused to be happy at this place. More than once during the ride when he fell asleep things would go floating around the cab. With these things reported when Lan sat down in the main office and was given an interview he didn’t answer the questions except once when taunted he sent a stapler into the wall. He was given a schedule and training hours. He missed all of his classes and training the first week still upset and confused by the whole thing. Later he crept into his training session and left nearly as quickly as he came. After a few months he started to trust a little and go to class. His training was always where problems came in. He wanted to control his power but he wasn’t sure what his limits were.
Roleplay Example
(FROM ANOTHER SITE)Elijah... Elijah, read me a story. The voice haunted him as his eyes snapped open. He swore softly as he remembered the day. If he could have gone in her place he would have. She had only been six. He sat up and looked at clock yawning widely. It didn't take him long to pull on sweat pants and a random t-shirt. Eli shook his head trying to rid himself of the ghost. Sweet Caroline had been the only one to ever call him Elijah. It used to annoy him now he would give anything to hear her call his name like she used to. "Once, there was a little princess," he said aloud, glad there was no one else around to institutionalize him for talking to shadows. "She was the sweetest and prettiest in the land and everyone loved her." He continued as he dropped onto his rump and pulled on his shoes. "But there was a jealous witch who wanted the girl's beauty. One day she took the girl away. She was terrified but you see this pretty little girl had a knight." He smiled with faint sadness, it would have been that moment in the story Caroline would have exclaimed, 'Elijah! Be my knight Elijah!' His heart throbbed but he continued. "He wouldn't let anyone hurt his princess. He went to the witch and demanded he let her go. The witch refused but that night he stole her away and the whole kingdom celebrated her return." He finished with a triumphant smile.
"As if." He said bitterly his pleasant mood falling to oblivion. He never liked it and never thought he would be able to but he had promised. "Happy Birthday Caroline." He uttered. Eli sighed and shook his head. He needed to get out of the room. He stole one last glance at the picture standing by his bedside. Only one thing could clear his mind completely and that was rather illegal and frowned upon, so he settled for the next best thing. The track. He could drill himself and keep himself sharp. Eli wasn't remarkable by any means. He was tall and lithe, flexible and strong. His brown hair was cropped short to keep if from being a hindrance and his green eyes were sharp giving nothing away but taking in everything. Altogether Eli looked like anyone else on the street. A necessity if he was to disappear into the crowd at will.
He could and did become invisible, eavesdropping was something of a hobby and the best way to eavesdrop was to be invisible. Eli was no track star but the track served its purpose. For instance the white lines were about the width of a privacy fence. His shoes were the only thing he really cared about. They were sturdy but flexible easy to maneuver and balance. It was like just having an extra layer of protection. He would have rather gone barefoot but after a few nights of robberies on bare feet they had bled and run the risk of someone finding him. His shoes were more like cloth coverings instead of the traditional thick stiff soled shoes. Eli moved without a sound out into the cool damp morning. The sun wasn't even peering over the horizon yet, instead it hid igniting the sky with reds and oranges. He didn't mind the early hours, in fact before he came here he would have already been up for hours having slept the afternoon before. Stealing had become part of what he was so much so that it was hard for him to separate his life from it. He moved carefully and purposefully in such silence he sometimes scared people if they didn't see him coming. He used the silence and invisibility as a shield as much as he did a weapon. No one at the school knew anything about his previous life and he wanted it to stay that way so number one solution: Stay under the radar and stay invisible.
Eli sighed and shook himself out before starting at a casual trot around the track. He carefully sidestepped the line imagining creaking floorboards. His feet throbbed thinking about the aches of his early days in training. It had been so hard to constantly balance on his toes. Soon the muscle built but at a price. His tendons shortened in his feet and for a while he couldn't even walk normally much less tip his foot up to tap it. Once he had been around a few times Eli started to follow the line. Balancing but moving rapidly striving for speed without touching anything but white. The sun was just starting to rise, no one in their right mind would be out at this unholy hour. He himself pushed out of his bed early by nightmares. Watching the white line carefully Eli didn't even notice someone else was around until he nearly bowled him over. The shadow of the person crossed his path causing his head to come up. "Jesus!" He exclaimed twisting to the side to dodge them.
