[Hay-lin Mae]

Hay-lin walked into the auditorium, this place had became her favorite on the school grounds, it always was and always will be. Even though no one ever watched her, she still loved the feeling of being on the stage. She dreamed of one day being able to perform again in front of a crowd like she used to when she attended Hammel. Just knowing that the spotlight had been on her the whole time made her heart quiver with excitement.

With Olive, her German Sheppard guide dog, she walked up to the stage, she told Olive to stay near the steps, and placed her bag next to him. She went to the sound booth, placed a certain cd in, and then went back to the stage. She walked to stand in the middle of the stage, she activated her powers right before the song started. She started doing to dance cover of ‘I got a boy’ by SNSD. This was one of her favorite songs to do the cover of, because it just had a fun feel to it, it was fast pace, and everything fast paced was more fun to her.

Iggy walked down the hall with a bounce in his step. He was in a cheerful mood, like usual. On his way down to the pool, he stopped. The door to the auditorium was open, nothing unusual with that, but on the stage was a woman dancing. He stood in the doorway and watched her all the way across from the auditorium. He was intrigued as she moved with easy up there to the music Iggy didn't hear. She looked like she knew what she was doing.

Curious, Iggy rolled up the sleeves of his hoodie, and snapped loudly to activate his power. He could feel the beat of the music, and he dance seemed to make more sense with it there. He smiled happily. It wasn't everyday he watched someone dance. He stepped quietly around the outside of the chairs and approached the stage. His eyes kept their gaze on the woman as she moved. He was captivated by it.

The song came to a close, or at least Iggy was pretty sure it did, and he clapped. Letting a single awkward vibration through his arms repeatedly. His smile still wide across his face. It wasn't often a Deaf person could see a dance and get an idea of the music, he felt lucky for this.

The boy who had walked into the auditorium didn’t come into Hay-lin’s line of ‘vision’ till he came closer to the stage. That was one thing about her ability, she would only ‘see’ so far. She kept dancing to the song as she saw him, but kept a mental eye on him, and Olive; even though she knew the dog would stay put, she still didn’t want anything to happen.

The song came to a close and she stopped with a pose. She heard the boy clap, she smiled a bowed in front of her. “Thank you, you are kind.” She bowed again, giving respect to the boy who was praising her. She carefully walked to her dog, and sat down on the edge of the stage; then turned off her power. She had used to quite a lot today, and it needed a break; she needed a break, she could feel her mind growing tired. “Do you dance?” Small talk?

Iggy smiled and signed 'you're welcome.' He knew ASL wasn't known to everybody, but thank you and you're welcome were a common sign. He watched her sit near a German Sheppard. It sat there obediently. He wondered why a teacher would have a dog in the school with her.

His eyes went to the woman's mouth when he felt vibrations. "You" and "dance" were all he picked up from it, but the way her voice went higher slightly at the end meant it was a question. He shook his head. Then the reason for the dog clicked, she didn't seem to react to the sign nor his head shaking. Iggy assumed she was blind. It made sense, right?

"No." He answered aloud. The feeling of vibration in his throat bothered him, but he wasn't going to be picky about that at the moment. "That was very good. What song was that?" Granted, he didn't hear it, but it had a nice feel to it. It was a lively song that wasn't too aggressive like some rock songs. He liked it. "Do you teach dance here?"

Hay-lin had became a bit worried when she hadn’t heard the boy speak. Olive placed his head on her lap, and she started softly petting his head. Had the boy left? She wondered. She hadn’t heard footsteps leaving, that would have been a clear sign that someone had left. Unless this person was the quietest walker in the world, than that meant someone was still here.

It made the teacher wonder if this person was just really quiet, but that really wouldn’t work with Hay-lin. Was this person mute? She also wondered. She just sat there and blinked, waiting for a response that she wasn’t sure would come. She wondered how stupid she looked doing so.

Then she finally heard a voice, and an answer to her question. She smiled even though she had hoped the answer would have been a yes, still she was glad to hear the student talking. “Ah, Well I hope dancing is entertaining for you.” Some people thought dance was boring, or it just didn’t catch their attention. But his comment made her blush, “Thank you. And it’s ‘I got a boy’ by S N S D.” The band wasn’t really rock, it was more pop, maybe a pop rock song? “Oh, yes I do. I also teach acting. I’m Hay-lin Mae.” Hay-lin noticed that the boy’s voice seemed off, but she couldn’t place why.

Iggy had a friendly smile across his face. It may or may not make a difference, but that was an expression he wore often. His eyes followed her lips as she spoke. The combination of smile and watching a person's mouth had led to the person feeling uncomfortable at several occasions. He didn't mean to bother anyone on purpose; he was just trying to have a friendly conversation.

"It is. I really like to watch dancers, they're fascinating." His hands moved with the words he spoke out of habit. His speech was a bit off from most. He often put emphasis on the wrong syllable and exaggerated or barely spoke ending consonants. But he was pretty much understandable.

Iggy always found music and dancing interesting. He could watch them gracefully move for hours. It didn't matter if it was in silence or vibrations, it was still beautiful to watch. As far as he was aware the song was called 'I got a boy.' He wasn't completely sure of who it was, he just picked up an S and a D. Iggy figured there were more letters in there, but it was hard to read.

So she also taught acting. Miss Mae was a woman of many talents then. Miss Mae. Iggy liked how that rolled. It was flowy but not in the sense that it would get hard to say after a while. "I am Iggy Liu" He introduced himself to her in return. Now everyone's name was said, except one. "What's your dog's name?"

His combination of actions didn’t bother Hay-lin mostly because she actually couldn’t see him do either. Though if she knew he was smiling, it would be a nice change from some of the other students she was around most of the day. She loved all her students, but some of them, she just didn’t a change of pace from their attitudes.

Hay-lin smiled “I’m glad you think so. Have you ever thought about learning how to dance?” Hay-lin had a thought about him being deaf, or maybe it was just a speech problem. Either way, Hay-lin didn’t think any disability should get in the way of one’s dreams, or at least she wished it could be like that. She would never point out someone’s disability, it would be completely rude of her…

The song was easy to find on google, and/or youtube, all you had to do was type in ‘I got a boy’ in the search and the group will pop up. That is if he was interested in learning more about the group, and wanting to hear the song again.

“It’s nice to meet you Iggy.” She bowed slightly, as much as she could while sitting down, anyways. “Oh, This is Olive” She rubbed the dogs head again. He was one of her best pets, granted she never had very many pets..
