A Little Piece of Heaven (Oriel)

Clumsily pulling her phone out of her pocket with a sheepish grin on her lips, she looked through her list of contacts, and smiled as she found exactly who she wanted to cheer up this late! What if he was asleep? Oh welllll, then she'd wake him up and tell him to stop being such a grumpy pants! She clicked the call button and pressed the phone against her ear.

And then it started ringing...

And ringing....

...and ringing...

And then someone -- hopefully Oriel picked up. '''Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii~'', she said, her voice slurry and foggy. But that didn't matter, oh no, she was thrilled he had actually picked up. Yay! ''Ooooriiiieeeeel?'' God, she hoped she had called the right person. Not that it mattered. She wouldn't have stopped talking anyways. Nope. And then she started giggling.

This late at night, somewheres about 1:15 am, Oriel was certainly not sleeping like most sane people ought to be. No, with his hot-water bottle gone permanently, Oriel's sleep schedule had gone from bad to worse over the past few of days. Instead, he was running. Or rather, he had been running. Now he was in the parking lot, practicing.

Guess that was the good thing about all the drama lately. Oriel got in a lot of practice. It helped keep his mind off of things.

Oriel heard the unspectacular ring of his equally unspectacular cell-phone that he'd set with his stuff on the curbside, and took a breather to answer. "Lux" the caller ID said.

The Princess? Why was she calling him this late at night? Did something happen? Oriel's first thought was that maybe the twins had started bothering her again or she'd gotten into some sort of trouble. "Hello?" he answered the phone only to be greeted by.....what the fuck was this? Who the fuck was this? This did not sound like Lux, it was far too bubbly, even for her. "Lux? What the f-- What are you doing?" he demanded. "What's wrong?" No need to panic yet, she was probably just in a good mood......

Yes, it was unlikely of Lux to call this late. In fact, it was unlikely for her to call at all. If it had been the twins, all she could have done was lock her door and ignore them. Though she doubted they'd even bother after everything. It was probably better that way anyways, and she didn't like causing Oriel to worry when there was nothing to worry about. Even she knew better than to chase after those kinds of guys.

She completely ignored his usual grumpyness. Sheesh, what a sourpuss! Did he always have to assume something was wrong? Nope. Nothing wrong here. Just a lot of beer and... Vodka? Yes, that was what Jack had called it, right? And her tongue was feeling weird again. It tickled, which made her giggle again. ''Uhmmm, what am I doing? Sillyyyy~ What are you doing?'', she asked and squealed, clearly finding this hilarious. Why, she had no idea. Everything seemed fun right now. Even Oriel worrying. ''Oh, calm down you sourpuss, nothing's wrong!'' Except from the fact that her words were foggy and extremely slurry.

She wondered if this was how it felt talking after having your tongue pierced. Oooooh, she should totally ask Jack to pierce her tongue. Yes! ''Should I-'', she began and someone talking in the background made her stop. ''Shhhh, I'm talking!'', and then she was back. ''Where as I... Right! Should I have my tongue pierced? Wouldn't that be cool?''

''Oh right... What I'm doing... WELL, there was this stalker in the woods... Like Albert...F...F-fisssh? Whatever. But then it wasn't a stalker after all! Isn't that juuuuust greeeeat?'' Another squeak came from her lips, and then a giggle.

"Uhmmm, what am I doing? Sillyyyy~ What are you doing?"

Oriel stopped breathing. She was drunk. Not just drunk, but wasted. Oriel had been there enough times himself to know how to tell when someone was making a drunken phone call in the middle of the night. Oriel didn't bother answering her question as he felt the panic set in.

"Should I-Shhhh, I'm talking! Where as I... Right! Should I have my tongue pierced? Wouldn't that be cool?''

Her tongue pierced? No! Of course it wasn't all right! Why would she even want to do that? Oriel heard a voice in the background. A man's voice.

Scenarios of the horrible things what could be happening on the other side of that phone started circulating through his mind. Lux would never have gotten drunk on her own, so that guy must've done it. Was he some idiot trying to get in her pants too? What if he had lured her out there to take advantage of the Princess? What if, in her drunken state, she was talked into doing something she would definitely regret in the morning. More so, what if she got hurt wherever she was, and that other idiot was too hammered to help her?

Oriel swallowed as he responded, trying to hide the anxiety in his voice. "Lux," he used her first name again instead of his pet name for her, "If you want to get your tongue pierced, you can." That was a lie. "But, get it done from a professional." He so wanted to yell at her right now, and he was trying his absolute hardest not to. But he needed to find out where she was first, and he didn't want to risk Lux hanging up on him before he found out. "Yeah," he said less than enthusiastically, "That's great. Where are you? Are you in your room?"

Wasted? Hell yeah. It was her second time drinking alcohol, ever, and the amount she had swallowed, well. Let's just say it was surprise she hadn't thrown it all up yet. And if she had been sober and had been able to think things through, she would have known that calling Oriel in this state was one of the worst things she could ever do. Seriously what had she been thinking? Wasn't it bad enough that she made him worry just by living with two people he couldn't stand, and now she got herself drunk in the middle of the woods with someone she barely knew?

Well. It was probably a good thing she was too drunk to even think about things like that. Though, she'd probably hear it all tomorrow, and then some. Yup, he'd never let her forget this one.

In Jack's defense, she had agreed to doing this on her own, so he really couldn't be blamed for any of it. She was aware that in Oriel's eyes, she was this innocent, fragile thing that couldn't do anything bad, but even she was human. And humans makes mistakes. Though, she'd have to agree, she'd probably wake up regretting every single second of it in the morning.

''Ooooo, someone's being all serious!'', she teased and chuckled. Aww, poor thing. He was missing out on all the fun! Maybe if he started being nicer to people, they'd invite him out more often. Though, she liked his rough sides. It was all part of what made her care for him so much, even as annoying as it could be. ''Buuuut.'', she complained and pouted. ''That's no fun! Besides, it's just a needle... And poof!'' God, she must have sounded so silly right now. But she didn't care! She was having fun. Lots and lots of it! ''In my room? Noooo~.'' Nope. She was in the middle of the woods. Wait. Lake. And woods. Trees. Right. ''Silly, Oriel! I wouldn't be drinking in my room! If I did that, then that scary doctor man from the talk woulda found me and ruined aaaalll the fun!'' Fun, fun, fun.

And then she trailed of from the conversation, again. ''Gosh, this thing taste like shit.'', she muttered.

The two people Oriel couldn't stand was one thing, but getting herself drunk in the middle of nowhere with someone she barely knows(not that Oriel knew that) without having told anyone where she was in case something happened was a completely different issue! It was downright dangerous! Even if she had been alone it would have been incredibly reckless!

It was only an assumption, but Oriel was pretty sure the Princess didn't even know how to drink, how it affected her system, how easily a tiny girl like her(especially one who probably had never been seriously drunk in her life) could drink herself into unconsciousness. What if she passed out in the middle of nowhere and she her head on a rock or something?

Oriel needed to know where she was or these worries were going to drive him mad.

"Buuuut. That's no fun! Besides, it's just a needle... And poof!''

And this was exactly the reason why Oriel called her a Princess. Why he thought she needed protection. If she thought that using just any needle for a piercing was Ok, then she really was naive, though he was pretty sure it was just the booze talking. Then again, she might really do something that stupid if whoever was with her was irresponsible enough to talk her into it. Or talk her into other things…

"Consent under the influence isn't consent. Besides, if your head is thinking you're happy and your body isn't, your body isn't about to forgive you the next day, and you're not about to forgive your partner."

Oriel remembered Noa's words from just a few days before. In Oriel's opinion, that extended to any decisions one might make under the influence, and he knew he'd made enough mistakes in the past while intoxicated(even if just a little) to prove his point effectively to Lux.

But he couldn't lecture her about it if he didn't know where the hell she was!!

'Gosh, this thing taste like shit.''

Oriel laughed nervously into the phone as he started to pick up his things. "Yeah, I'll bet," he said, humoring her. "What was it?" He spoke to her as if she were a child.

If it hadn't been for the alcohol circulating through her system, she probably would have known better than to call anyone. Especially Oriel. The fact that she had also called Carter was something she more or less could live with, but if she knew how much she worried Oriel by doing this, she'd feel bad, and she'd do anything trying to make it up to him. And she wouldn't have blamed him if he decided to go raging mad when she woke up and never, ever leave her side again.

She heard him laugh. Not the nervous part, that much she was too drunk to notice. But he was laughing, which was a good thing, right? And what was she drinking again? ''Uhm...'', she said trying to read the bottle, but her eyes couldn't focus. ''I have no idea.'', she said with a giggle and put the bottle down. ''Jaaaack, what's this?'', she said, pointing towards the bottle. ''Wait, I'll ask Jack.'' Though, she kind of already had.

Hell yeah, she worried him. Out of all the stupid things she could have done, this was probably the stupidest! And while he wanted to yell at her right then and there, even Oriel knew that there was no point in scolding a drunk person. Chances are she wouldn't even remember it come morning time.

Well, at least now he knew the name of the person he had to go murder. The real problem after that was hiding the body.

And getting Lux home safe.

''What'chuuu doooooing?''

Under normal circumstances, Oriel would have just snapped and told her it was none of her business what he was doing. Not the best thing to do in this situation. He cleared his throat. "Um...I was practicing my downrock." Not that she'd know what that was. He chuckled, not really all too friendly-like, but he was still battling nervousness. "Now that's not fair, Princess. You still haven't answered my questions, and yet you managed to get one out of me." Apparently Drunk!Lux was capable of getting a serious answer out of the boy.

Remember anything? God, she hoped not. Not that she could actually think about that right know, but she would probably end up waking up with a major headache and wonder just what the hell she did the night before. It would be easier not to remember anything, but it would also annoy her to death not knowing.

Getting her home safe wasn't the hardest thing to do, seeing as how she could barely walk enough as it was. The problem was what would be waiting back home, if blondie was still awake after the phone call. But her own bed sounded rather nice right now. Sitting on the moist grass all night wasn't exactly the most comfortable thing in the world.

''Your what?'' He was right. She had absolutely no idea what he was talking about, and that wasn't because of the alcohol either. And no, snapping at her wouldn't have gotten him far. She'd probably end up laughing and calling him a sourpuss, again. ''Ohh, okay. Fine~'', she began and took another sip out of the bottle. ''We're in the woods!'' Very helpful, right? Vermont was filled with trees and forests. ''Trees and water everywhere!'', she chirped cheerfully and giggled. Good thing Jack was here, since she couldn't swim. Yup.

The nerve of some people!

Here he was simply asking an innocent question and the guy hung up on him, Jack hopped that the next person on Lux’s call list was must nicer.

Much like his consciousness that night, Jack’s attention to the conversation waned in and out as drank his beer and lied on his back quietly humming to himself while drinking, just enjoying the rare moment of peace in his life…

He was brought back out of his day dreaming by asking what beer he was drinking, eagerly he crept beside Lux and began to speak in a mock sophisticated voice. Well my dear, we happen to be drinking the finest Budweiser ale. A fine vintage…Oh hey can I talk to him? Put it on speaker.”

Jack laughing slightly in anticipation as Lux made so Oriel could hear him, he was barely able to contain his laughter before finally speaking.

“…Yeah Ortiz right? Hi there Jack McCarthy here. How are you doing on this fine summer’s eve? Ok, listen Ortiz. Lux has a very important question she wanted me to ask you. In diameter, can you give us a rough estimate how big your penis is? Now, before you answer just know that she’s already asked some guy-named Carl or Carly or something the same question, but he declined so you could win the mini “Penis-size” competition we have going on here!"

Suddenly Jack Gasped as another idea hit him.

“Oh my God Lux! You know what we should do? Go swimming!”

"Your what?"

That brought out an honest snicker from Oriel, despite his head raging and spinning with worry. "Dancing," he clarified. "I'll show you sometime, Princess." If she was still speaking to him after he locked her up and lectured her on the dangers of date rape for 6 straight hours.

The woods. Lots of water and trees. Ok, that was either the pond or the lake. Hopefully the former, because the latter was a fucking huge place.

Oriel flung his shoulder bag over his head and started running towards the first location. He was going to search the entirety of Vermont for her if he had to.

Then there was another voice on the phone. Ah, the infamous Jack. And from the sounds of it, a regular perverted idiot, which did nothing to put Oriel at ease. His question didn't even deserve a response. It was Jack's next suggestion that had Oriel quickly panicking again.

"Swimming?" he said, with a slight, nervous squeak in his voice. He slowed down to a stop, about a hundred or so yards from the pond area, a place where the two drunkos obviously weren't. Oriel swallowed hard and took a few deeps breaths before continuing on the phone. "Lux? Can you take me off speaker? I want to talk to Jack alone for a second." He closed his eyes, trying to catch his breath. "Please?"

Oh, dancing. No wonder she didn't know. Not that she had tried it before, but she was pretty sure that someone with as poor balance as she had, there was no way she could ever manage that. ''You should.'', she said with a grin. Even if she couldn't, she could take pleasure in watching others who did.

Jack's second outburst had her laughing again. God, he was so lame, just as he had been during the last call. But just as the previous had, Oriel completely ignored the question, which was probably a good thing, because even drunk Lux didn't want to know the answer to either. It was two very personal questions, and even now she didn't feel comfortable about the subject, but that didn't make her smile drop. With a shake of her head and another laugh she pushed Jack's shoulder. ''You're such a fool.''

''Oh my God Lux! You know what we should do? Go swimming!''

That was probably the worst thing Jack could ever have suggested. She had already 'almost' drowned once, and now he wanted her to swim? But, even with the risks, it did sound tempting right now. But Oriel's voice crashed her line of thoughts and she nodded, as if he could see that. ''Uhm... Sure.'', she turned off the speaker and handed Jack the phone. ''He wanna talk to you. And I take no responsibility for the yelling.'', she said with a sheepish grin on her face. After giving the phone away, Lux stood up and took yet another sip from the bottle in her hand.

Aww, now Ortiz was ignoring the question, well that was disappointing...Well he supposed that he was the winner by default, well in all honestly he would have probably won anyway, but hey, Jack was a giving soul, and liked to think he was giving something back to those poor unfortunate people who wasn’t Jack McCarthy. Was he a hero? Hero was such an overused term, but yes. He was the world’s greatest hero.

Jack did a poor job of concealing his laughter as Lux punched him playfully on the shoulder. He did his best to stop laughing as he answered “A pretty fool, we’ve been over this babe.” Jack threw a wink at her,

but that playfulness seemed to transform into nervous energy as Lux handed him the phone, Jack played off that warning by playfully waving Lux off.

“Oh don’t worry about it, I have sixth sense about these things. Me and him have a connection going on here, I can tell. We have a rapour. We’re good, trust me.”

After reassuring Lux, he took other drink before putting the phone to his ear.

“Ortiz! What’s shaking, baby cakes!?”

"Ortiz" didn't bother correcting Jack on the use of his name. Hell, this bastard didn't deserve to know Oriel's real name.

But then again, there wasn't even a chance to correct him as Oritz wasted no time in laying it out straight for Jack.

"First off, don't even think of taking Lux into the water. She can-not swim. You take her out there, drunk as she is, she will drown and it will be your fault. Now if that didn't deter you, then maybe this will. I'm on my way over right now. When I get there, if I find you ignored my warning or that you've harmed her in any way, shape, or form otherwise, I will kill you. No joke. I will rip your fucking head off and shit down your throat. Then I'm going to take your decapitated corpse and fuck it up the ass before tying it to a rock and chucking it in the lake. Trust me, Jack, you're going to make like that dude on the Titanic and sink aaallll by yourself." Oriel didn't yell. He didn't even raise his voice. Though he might have thrown in a sliver of his Dom voice if only to ensure he got his point across. "Do we have a "rapport"?"

Oriel clutched the phone tighter in his hands. "I'm trusting you on this, Jack." He didn't really, but really had no choice but to. "Now, give the phone back to Lux."

Well so much for a connection…

Jack brow furrier as Ortiz began to speak in a very un-friendly manner, talk about a complete buzz kill, Jack felt like rolling his eyes. Don’t be that guy Ortiz, here Lux and Jack were having a perfectly pleasant evening together, don’t ruin it Ortiz with your bull-crap. So she can’t swim, that’s fine. He didn’t think that water was especially deep, absolutely not deep enough to drown.

Jack was going to interject with this reasonable point when, Ortiz just rolled on.

Ohhhh…

Jack’s blood instantly grew cold as Ortiz began describing exactly what he would do to Jack if they went for a swim in graphic detail, Even in Jack’s inebriated state, Jack practically shit himself.

“…Well this is intense.”

Who the hell was this guy?! And what bizarre series of event’s caused him to turn into the terrifying keeper of Lux? Jack would ask him that…but after weighing up his options, overall he decided not to provoke the angry lunatic who wanted to disembowel him, probably a good decision…

Without another word, Jack turning pale as could be passed the phone to Lux.

“….Y’know after thinking about it maybe swimming wouldn’t be the best idea. Also apparently, he wants to pull off my head and poop down my throat…Interesting guy. He wants to talk to you.”
